“Bucuti & Tara is the way to go in Aruba!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 30, 2012

Working in travel, I have the highest standards regarding hospitality and Bucuti & Tara Beach hotel not only met but exceeded them. Prior to trip, I was worried about having a ground floor room. I read on Tripadvisor guests with similar concerns who ended up being grateful they were given those rooms. The minute we walked out the terrace on the beach we were in heaven. The ground floor room was a blessing in disguise allowing us instant access to the most picturesque oceanfront setting. The Tara Beach suite is new, perfectly appointed, and you simply cannot beat the view. It's paradise.

We felt pampered by all the staff at Bucuti and Tara. In particular, when our rental car needed to be exchanged due to engine failure the front desk staff wouldn't let that ruin our planned night out. We were able to dine at the on property restaurant and the front desk worked in conjunction with the restaurant wait staff to seamlessly coordinate the exchange without disrupting our dinner or letting our food get cold. Our waiter perfectly timed our meal and an event that could have ruined out night seemed rather minor. The Tara front desk even weighed in our snorkel tour options providing excellent personal insight and recommendations.

The daily included buffet breakfast is more than just a free breakfast. It's something to rave about. We also took advantage of happy hour enjoying the music and scene at the bar. We loved lounging on the beach with waiters on call to provide drink and food service. Movie night on the beach is awesome. It gave us yet another reason to not want to ever leave this sanctuary.

As a beach lover, I was shocked how truly different the beach in front of the resort is vs. in the high-rise section. The high-rise beach was much shorter in distance and extremely overly crowded. Bucuti and Tara really is a true oasis in Aruba. The resort location is far enough away from the high-rise section but still close to the shops and bars of downtown Oranjestad.

My mom's birthday was made truly special by management. The resort wished her happy birthday with a lovely wine which we enjoyed on our beachfront terrace during the mesmerizing Aruba sunset. The location, the accommodations, and the personal touches and attention from the dedicated staff made this a dream vacation.

We just got back from our 8th visit to Bucuti and it was as wonderful as it always is.
The resort is always clean and fresh as the ocean breeze. The staff is pleasant and helpful and so eager to please. There are improvements made every year to make the resort better and we love the desert feel of the property, it matches the island landscape.
It has a great location between the high rises and the town. We have toured the high rises and you could not pay us to stay at any of them, one reason being that the beaches are too crowded.
The peace and quiet of Bucuti is just what we need for R&R from our busy lives. We will return.

Room Tip: The Tara suites for the best beach views.

I feel guilty for just submitting this review. We went to the Bucuti in August of 2012 for our 10th anniversary and becuase I am still so impressed with the property, I have finally gotten around to writing this. It was a perfect hotel. We had my sister and brother-in-law join us for the trip and they stayed next door. The rooms are large enough to accomodate the evenings when we wanted to have a cocktail together but sound proof enough that sometimes we forgot they were next to us. The complimentary breakfast was wonderful and the staff was exceptionally helpful and pleasant. It was the perfect mixture of quite time under your own umbrella staring at one of the most beautiful beaches in the world but at happy hour you could walk 10 feet, sit down and meet new people and listen to a great steal drum player. I would highly recommend anyone to stay here that would like to get away and not be bothered by children. We have 2 of our own so when we travel we without them we would prefer adult only venues. We loved it so much we have friends going there in December. At first they could not get a room but we told them to do whatever it took to book there because it is worth it. They have a little one as well and need the peace and quite. :-)

Room Tip: The Bucuiti building has all of the rooms facing the ocean where the Tara Suites only have the end u...

This was my first visit to Aruba and the Bucuti made it that much better! It's a beautiful, clean and quiet hotel. The beaches are great, the softest sand I've ever seen and the staff were all so friendly, always saying hello whenever they passed. we never had to worry about finding lounge chairs with an umbrella the beach is not crowded, everything was perfect!! Can't wait to go back!!

Ok there is nothing to do on Aruba apart from lounging on the beach, snorkeling, diving or para sailing. So you need to select a hotel ON the beach and stay away from anything else.

This one is nice. I did not have to pay for it my hundreds of thousands of miles with Air France did that for me :) Apart from the fact that Jet Blue lost my luggage and took 3 days to bring them my way it is a nice place to spend a week far from everything else.

Rooms are nice okay but have a pretty strong moldy smell. If you suffer from asthma stay away. If you don't then make sure you get a room overlooking the beach because the view is simply breathtaking.

The food is also okay. The staff is very nice and always smiling.

The beach is their strong point so really enjoy it and take the time to go snorkeling around the sunken boats. It feels like diving in an aquarium!

Overall a nice place. Not revolutionary. Not crazy. But nice and well maintained.

In reply to a “nice hotel on the beach” by Vorsoni SF CA.

We have read your comments on our resort with apprehension and want to thank you for the feedback and make sure we reply, as we are very concerned about your comments regarding a moldy smell.

It is our policy to investigate any adverse comments and get to the bottom of it immediately. We have checked our logbooks and were unable to find any complaints about a moldy smelling room. Mold and mildew can indeed be a problem in the Caribbean especially during the rainy season and to prevent this from happening we have equipped all our rooms with sophisticated humidity sensors, dehumidifiers and air-conditioning controls to prevent such. In addition every room has a HEPA air-purifier to remove noxious smells and VOC’s. We are proud of our Eco rooms – even our cleaning products are all natural and organic products – and are ISO 14001 and Green Globe certified.

While searching our logs we were unable to locate your room or any mention of the issue, nor do we find a report of your lost luggage (for 3 days) which could have helped us identify your room.

We pride ourselves for having our manager or assistant manager meet and greet our guests to the resort on arrival, we mingle with our guest for breakfast, lunch and dinner and our manager Deborah or myself says farewell to all departing guests in an effort to uncover inconsistencies and to correct them ASAP – we are here from 7 in the morning to 9 at night and are on call 24/7. We unfortunately have no reports of the unpleasantness you mention.

We would be very grateful in having you get in touch with us to identify the particular room in order to take corrective action.

Respectfully we thank you,

We just returned home after our fourth visit to Aruba and the Bucuti Beach Resort. On our second day, we booked our return for 2013. Simply the best small hotel on the best big beach in the Caribbean. The staff, many of them have been there for years, are friendly, welcoming and very good at their jobs. Every morning at the complementary and expansive breakfast, the owner and the general manager chat with the guests and look for suggestions. The beach is quiet with plenty of space between umbrellas and it is adults only. The hotel will not even let kids into the restaurant. Got to love it. Back next year.

Room Tip: All of the Bucuti rooms are similar. We like the king room. You are not in your room much but the up...

Every year my wife and I take a trip, leaving the two kids at home, to celebrate our anniversary and reconnect. We have been to all-inclusive resorts in Punta Cana, Jamaica and Antigua to celebrate and this time we wanted an adults only location without the all-inclusive. If we are not going to have our kids, we do not want anyone else's. We expected a little boutique hotel on the beach without loud people so we could read, relax, swim in the ocean and go out to good meals. That is exactly what we got.
Our room was on the ground floor of the Tara portion of the resort. We were 10 yards from the beach. Every morning I walked to the outdoor restaurant, got a couple of caupuccinos, walked back to my wife, who was still in bed, read on the little porch, walked onto the beach, where there was plenty of room between my area and the next area, sat, waited until 10 for the bar to open and the beach service to start, ate the complimentary breakfast, including an omelette station and fresh fruit, waded in the water, applied copious amounts of 30 spf, had lunch brought to us, fell asleep, watched the sunset, went inside, showered and took a cab to a fantastic restaurant.
The hotel restaurant was a B+, and we ate outside each night. The staff was friendly throughout the resort. The room was more than ample sized - a TV embedded in the bathroom mirror, another in the sitting area, and another in the bedroom. The room was an A-. There is no reason why its not an A+ other than we have been to places that have nicer rooms, but this room was perfect. Nothing else was needed or wanted - it just was not over the top.
The beach gets an A+. Plenty of chairs, plenty of servers, plenty of space between people, plenty of quiet, plenty of distance to walk and an amazing sunset night after night. Plus, it was so close to our room.
The people were pleasant, no one was loud. People were polite, non-intrusive, willing to talk if spoken to. A lot of honeymooners, people on their anniversary and people who have been coming to Aruba and the Bucuti for years.
We always like to try new places, but there is no doubt we will return here. It was absolutely perfect.

Room Tip: Personally, I like being able to walk out onto the beach, so the first floor of the Tara building is...
