“Honeymoon get away!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2014

This place is a really fun and friendly place to go. There are things about the resort that aren't that great but, for the most part it was a lot of fun and relaxing.

Our room was nice. It was a studio and we thought it would have a kitchen but all it had was a small fridge and a microwave. So not to much cooking went on there. But, the resort has grills all over the place you can use. They are always clean and work great. We made the best of the grills and pretty much used them everyday. Our view was of the pool and the ocean which made for a great view in the morning for breakfast and dinner on the balcony at night.

In other posts you would read a lot about people complaining about the beach chairs or the pool chairs and how you had to get down there by 7am to get a good spot or even get a chair. This is not true. There were so many times I got up to tag our chairs and I had my free pick at 7am. You could go at 10 in the morning and still get a chairs or a palapa hut on the beach. No need to worry about that on your vacation. Actually think it's a good idea they do that.

The entire staff was nice and always smiled and were very willing to help you if you had any questions or needed a suggestion on where to go for dinner or activity.

Overall they place is nice and if you don't mind being around families vacationing or a lot of east coasters on vacation then this place really is a nice place to go to. Only reason I took a point away is because we were told we would have a kitchen and we didn't. But, we made due and I would say this is a good place to go and check out.

Room Tip: Always ask for a room above the 4th floor facing the pool or else you will be looking at the parking...

Last year we were given one of the rooms that you can see from the front lobby. It was OK with us until we realized two important things.....Well, one REALLY important thing, one, not so much. If you are staying in this villa be prepared for EVERYONE from the lobby to look up and watch as you enter and exit your room. The REALLY important thing to me in this villa was the noise level. On this trip it was just hubby and I so they probably thought we wouldn't mind it so much. The noise starts early in the morning and goes deep into the night due to returning revelers coming in the front lobby door. Closing the bedroom and bathroom doors didn't help us much. If you are there to party this may be a good villa, but if you are early birds like us maybe not. It was probably built as a "Show Villa" during the original time share sale period but should have been noise proofed a little better. That being said the enclosed and larger and shaded balcony could be a plus!

My husband and I celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary with our 3 daughters at the Marriott Surf Club (1st time in Aruba). The property is gorgeous, the layout of the villa was perfect, and the staff was wonderful (especially Gloria - our maid, who is the sweetest person ever). We never had an issue getting a palapa on the beach - even when we didnt get to the beach until noon (getting pool chairs was a little challenging). Definitely bring your own inner tubes ($4 at Target) - not just for the lazy river, but for the ocean as well (no real waves on this side of the island). We saved money by eating breakfast in our villa, then enjoyed dinner at Aruba's numerous restaurants. Don't miss the seafood buffet at the Marriott hotel - unlimited crab legs, scallops, shrimp, etc. for $40/person. There was plenty to do fir all ages. The only complaint is that the pools and hot tub close at 8:00 pm. It would be nice to have access to at least the hot tub after hours. Overall, an incredible trip! We cannot wait to return to Aruba!

We had a great time in Aruba. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. We went as a large family group with my parents my sisters and all of our kids ages 25-10. We had a great time. The kitchens are fully staff and it was easy to cook large meals for the entire group. The bbq grills were a bonus for griling fish and burgers. I also want to write a special thanks to Carmen Gonzales and Mari for keeping our suites so nice and clean. Carmen you were especially helpful your big smile and polite personality always greated us as we passed you by in the hallways. You were very kind and very helpful with any questions that we had. Thank you so much for making our first stay in Aruba so welcoming.

Room Tip: We stayed in Suites 7907 it had a partial ocean view from the master balcony and a full view of the...

Overall, our 3 BR suite was great for a party of 5 adults and three children under 12. We had enough space and all of the accommodations needed to cook and eat in. The facilities were kept clean and we always found pool chairs that we were able to reserve with our "tags" the beach is steps away. We ate out 4 of the 8 evenings we were there, the best was the "Vista" buffet at the adjacent Marriott. There are shops and a few restaurants within walking distance.

On the negative side, the prices for food are very expensive in the hotel lobby. The cost for a 12 ounce bag of potato chips is $7.50! Although we had a vehicle and bought groceries at a local grocery store, that too, was also very expensive, we spent $500.00 for a weeks worth of basic groceries and a few bottles of liquor!! Bring your own groceries and sun screen lotions!

Oh yea, almost forgot, our rental car company "Avis" gave our 12 passenger reserved vehicle away. They were very rude and basically said "too bad" when we complained, they made it up by giving us 2 small cars and making "us" return the next morning to pick up a similar 12 passenger vehicle that we had already reserved!! Our flight was NOT late we arrived on time at 3:00 p.m. so there was no reason for Avis to give it away. Other people were also complaining about similar issues.

Room Tip: Try to get a room facing the ocean, it makes no difference what floor you are on, since the elevato...

Just okay resort. This was my fourth stay in Aruba. Our room was clean and spacious. We had a one bedroom with a kitchen area and family room area that had a sofa bed. We were located right next to the lobby which made it very easy to go back and fourth to our room. The elevators were fast which made trips up and down to our room a breeze! The resort was crowed during spring break. It was hard to find chairs around the main pool but not so bad around the other areas. The food at the resort was expensive as expected in Aruba. The resort is located very close (within walking distance) to shops and restaurants. Not very many kid activities available. There was a water slide and lazy river that our eight year old really enjoyed. Our kids really enjoyed the ocean trampoline that we rented while hanging out on the beach. There were several families who brought water bottles and insulated cups with them to the pool which was very smart. We would order a drink and within two mins they were warm and the ice had melted. When your drinks are $8 and up you want to keep them cold as long as possible.

First let me say we come to Aruba every year and stay at the Hyatt Regency, this time unfortunately we decided to try the Marriott Surf Club. It's a big factory like resort, with unfriendly staff. Our "studio" room was exactly 12x15...pathetic. When I booked they told me it would be fine for a family of 4... After the 3rd day when we returned to our room and still had no fresh towels, I called the front desk and was told we have to wash them in the laundry room... Hahaha!!!! Our cleaning was scheduled for tomorrow !!! I have to say we have experienced HORRIBLE SERVICE from most of the employees we've dealt with!
