Usually I have no problems with Brickell Bay, but this time they put me in an AWFUL FILTHY room. Peeling paint, dirty bathroom, etc. (see pics).

Brickell Bay is really a crapshoot as far as the quality of the room.

I was recommended this hotel from someone who has stayed quite a few times in the past. We almost changed our minds after reading some of the horrible reviews of this hotel. We are so happy that we listened to our friend and not the reviews. Our experience was quite wonderful at the Brickell Bay Beach Club. The room was nice, the bed and linens were excellent. The refridgerator was a nice bonus and there was plenty of hot water and maid service. The hotel is doing some upgrading, but they appologized for that noise. It is not a five star resort, however you are within walking distance of some of the best hotels, attractions, casino's that Aruba has to offer. The pool bar is quiet and nice. There are not a lot of kids, which we consider a plus. My husband and I will totally stay here again. The rates are so reasonable, you get so much more then you pay for. We were able to splurge on many other excursions and wonderful meals with the money we saved. Aruba is beautiful.

Brickell Bay Beach Club Aruba

We just returned from apretty good vacation in Aruba. First of all Aruba has some of the most beauitiful beaches in the world. The location of this hotel is its best feature, its right across the street from the beach and all the great places to eat. Now for the the not so great part of this hotel. The Brickell Bay is very dark and musty. The furinture was very worn and really need to be updated. The worst thing about our stay was the fact we found tiny little bugs on the walls of the room. We went downstairs to complain and were given another room. After checking out the walls we went to dinner, while preparing for bed I notice there was somying crawling along the headboard of the bed. The bugs were in the groves of the headboard. I don't know what kind of bugs they were, they looked like flees even though the lady at the front desk said Aruba doesn't have flees... I don't know that... but with the bugs, the smells, and the over all appearance of the place, we checked out the next day. Just one peice of advice you really do get what you pay for.

I booked Brickell Bay for my wife and I for two nights prior to our move over to Bucuti (separate review). We arrived on the 30th of Dec. and stayed for 2 nights. A very pleasant surprise. Here are the good points.

1) Wonderful location, walk across the street to the beach...no big deal. Also, near all the cool stuff to do on Palm Beach.

2) The pool was pretty darn nice. Very quiet and with a swim-up bar and lots of iguanas.

3) Updated/remodeled king bed room. Don't look at the corners of the cieling or at the chips here and there. This is not the four seasons, but likely one of the best overall deals on the island based on the above points. I requested the remodeled room...try to insist on it, althugh I peeked into the older rooms, and it was just the sheets that made the rooms look bad, you know, that god-awful floral print...

4) Overall, a nice experience for 2 nights, and got to enjoy Palm Beach for a few days prior to moving to the more relaxing Eagle Beach and Bucuti Resort. They really only need a few things here and there to allow this hotel to obtain a little more respect. I think they are well on their way.

Pleasant surprise!

We weren't expecting anything amazing from Brickell Bay as we had booked it via a last-minute cheap deal from First Choice Holidays. However, we were quite pleasanly surprised. The hotel had a nice facade, the reception area was quite nice - not flash but quite nice and Caribbean-y. and check-in went relatively smoothly. The room was massive and really quite comfortable with a lovely big bed and it wasn't the cleanest room ever but it was generally ok. The colours were lovely and bright and it really had some character. The bathroom was probably the worst bit - quite scruffy in places - but it did the job. There was a coffee maker (but you have to buy your own coffee when the first small bag runs out) and an ice dispenser down the corridor. The water was generally nice and hot, The view was quite nice to the right but there was a big car park to the left.

We ended up spending quite a lot of time around the pool as the pool area was really quite nice. Plenty of sun loungers (although the umbrellas could dangerously fall over when it was very windy - which was a lot of the time) and the pool was lovely. Somebody dropped a glass in it one day but this was cleaned up and the pool cleaned thoroughly straight away. The pool bar was good. Limited drinks choice but you could sit at the bar whilst in the water and the lady there was friendly. LOADS of iguanas about who would come and sit on your sun lounger - very funny but not great if you happen to hate them!

The staff were hit and miss, some of them very friendly but others abrupt.

The location was great really, not as close to the beach to most of the hotels in Palm Beach but you can just walk out and you're right by all the restaurants unlike some massive hotel complexes where it would have taken a while to get anywhere. The hotel has its own beach space with free sun loungers but you have to pay for umbrellas.

The attached restaurant did great pizzas but not too much choice for breakfast and quite dear too.

All in all, a comfortable and great value stay!
