LOVED IT. This was our first time at the Divi or even Aruba, WOW what a great island, people and resort. We purchased someone's week thru our time shares and would do it again in a heart beat. The resort was beautiful not to big or to small. It is on the end of Palm beach but a 10 min walk to all the nightly shopping and resturants. The prices considering you are on a small island that has to import 90% of its food was not that bad especially if you consider it to Toronto prices. We stayed in the older tower and glad we did. We were on the 13th floor and had amazing views of sunrise and the entire resort, beach, ocean view and up the northern shoreline. This is a view you do not get from the majority of the new buildings. Our suite was huge and could definately fit 2-3 more people with use of cot. Clean and towels were checked everyday.Staff were fantastic, Michelle you were great! We went to the meeting to find out more knowing that we were not interested, Rosy was not pushy and did a quick 15 min presentation and answered all our questions. Loved Divi Pheonix!
Now what you need to know about Aruba! Taxis are very expensive. Flat rates for everything, so if you cn split the cost do so. Hotel to resort $25 and may charge 2-3 more depending on how many bags you have. Just to go to the Super food that was close enough to see from our room was $10 each way! Beverages are a little on the expensive side as well. Tour the Jolly Pirate half day snorkling was fabulous the crew was a hoot, $57 per adult to 3 sites lunch, open rum bar, lunch and swing diving was lots of fun would have done it again if had the time. The jeep trip is expensive $87per adult, do it this way if you are not a good driver. We with a nother couple rented a 4 door jeep from RIU palace for $152-taxes and full insurance we went everywhere plus more than the jeep tour stopped where and how long we wanted took pictures had fun got grocceries did shopping lunch etc. Hit all the tourist stops in 9 hours and had the veichle for 24hrs. With gas and all cost $55 per adult. Pure beach resturant at night very slow and would give it 3.5 out of 5 but if you see the Joy ride group playing go and listen for 2 hours great band playing all the good stuff new and old.
Pier bar on beach 10 min away great place food was good but toilets are .50 a flush not kidding!!
Smokey Joes rib shack was cheaper then resturants here in Ontario and even better tasting . You will have no regrets going to Aruba or staying at Divi Pheonix, we will be back!
