Stayed for a week and had a great time. Had a 1Bdrm on the 6th floor. Great view, and great accomodations. The hotel is in the middle of the Marriott Hi-Rises, between the Stellaris and Surf Club. We went over to the Stellaris and our friends saw our place and wished they could have stayed at the OC instead. Less crowded, more pool area, bigger pool bar, and much more relaxed. Beach area was clear and water smooth. See pics to get an idea.

The Marriott Ocean club was very nice. The location was great and everyone was happy there. We took a jeep tour with ABC jeep tours which was great and I would highly recommend doing it while you are there. Ask for Ivo as a tour guide and you will not go wrong. The buses were clean and a great way to get around the island. Each of the drivers were nice and very willing to get you to the place you needed to go. It was a easy inexpensive way to get around the island.

We are owners at the Ocean Club, who bring family and friends with us every year (for 7 yrs), and the reaction is always the same: Fantastic! The Ocean Club excels in providing a beautiful and happily laid back atmosphere, so anyone from 2 to 90 can find enjoyment there. The staff is unfailingly friendly and cooperative, without being intrusive, and often go the extra mile to accommodate your needs. We are usually there in high-season, but even at full capacity, there is plenty of room to absorb the extra guests. You never feel crowded, or stressed that you won't get a nice place by the pool or on the beach. It honestly never seems over crowded. The management does it's best to maintain the high quality of the premises, and acts promptly if a problem arises. They are also proactive, making sure that renovations and updates are done in a timely manner, with little disruption to the guests. It ranks far and above the environment at its sister, the Surf Club, which seems to have been cloned as a Disney-style "Theme Resort," right down to the loud background music and crowded atmosphere. As long as Marriott holds the Ocean Club at the standard it enjoys today, we will enthusiastically keep returning.

My husband and I traded our Orlando timeshare for a one bedroom unit at Marriott's Aruba Ocean Club during the week of May 18, 2009. After reading some of the reviews about this resort, I was concerned about the quality of the beach and the rooms. Don't be concerned--this property is amazing, and it exceeded our expectations!

The Ocean Club is an older property, but as many of the reviewers have said, age has advantages. It is located right in the middle of the Surf Club and the Stellaris Resort and Casino, which means that you can take advantage of these properties (with the exception of the pools) without walking far. Because they are all connected, you can charge drinks, food, etc. to your room with ease, regardless of which property you are in. Perhaps most important, there are NO CROWDS at the Ocean Club. The Surf Club had a "slow" week while we were there, and the pool looked full to us. I can't imagine how crowded it is when the property hits full capacity.

We used the pool and beach at the Ocean Club everyday, and had no trouble securing a palapa with a good view. The staff went out of their way to help, from the doormen to the front desk to the concierge. The room was spacious and well-appointed, and we were surprised to learn that our room was "old" and in need of renovation. We were also shocked to turn the TV on and see all of our NY stations...it felt like being home!

Food is expensive, but there are many options within walking distance, including several that are on the water just behind the resort (Hadicuirari, Moomba). You can't beat the sunset views! We also took the ABC Jeep Safari tour (affectionately called the "Shake and Bake" tour by the Marriott workers) and were happy that we opted for the three hour--and not an eight hour--package. It was fun, but we will likely not do it again. We also took a sunset cruise with the Jolly Pirates (walking distance from the hotel). I'm not sure I'd recommend that unless you are a teenager.

Within walking distance there is also an outdoor mall with shops, restaurants, and a great movie theater. On one of the days, we decided to take the bus downtown to do some shopping, and saved a bundle. The bus stops near the mall and only costs $2.40 roundtrip, which seemed very reasonable.

All in all, a terrific trip! Highly recommended...and we can't wait to go back!

We arrived at the Ocean Club on 1 day late on Monday May 10th after our connecting flight left us in Miami due to our originating flight being late. I don't recommend taking American Airlines, every flight we took with them was late except for the final flight from Miami to Baltimore (they did give us 20,000 miles to make it right). The cab ride should run you about 20 bucks from the airport, so make sure you have cash. It's $3 extra on Sundays and I think 2 bucks for extra bags. They say the government sets the prices, but I don't think I got the same price twice anywhere I took the cab. Visit these links for more info:

Be sure to get the price before you go and don't be afraid to shop around. I wish I would've looked at the above link prior to our travel as we paid $28 from the airport to the Marriott and $25 from the hotel to the airport, obviously overpaying.
The Marriott staff was more than welcoming when we arrived. There was no problem getting our room despite being 1 day behind schedule. The room was nice. Like many other reviewers, we found the room in need of upgrades and more detailed cleaning. Nothing major, but a smudge here, a stain here, stuff you notice after using a room for the day. We just purchased our timeshare last year in Vegas, so this was our first actual trip under the Marriott program. We exchanged a week for Aruba through Interval International. We chose the Ocean Club after reading reviews of how crowded the Surf Club was. We prefer to have a relaxed vacation with plenty of accessibility to facilities.
The bathroom definitely needed an upgrade. The living room was comfortable. You would expect wireless, but the internet is wired. You don't need to bring an ethernet cable. One is provided. The balcony has two access points, from the living room and from the bedroom...nice touch. The bathroom also has access points from the bedroom and living room. The bedroom contains a jacuzzi tub which is nice. The kitchen has a four range stove, toaster, microwave, fridge with auto ice maker. All the amenities you expect from a vacation club property. There is a washing machine/ dryer room at the end of the hallway. Your room is only cleaned one during the week, so don't be too much of a slob, because you'll have to deal with it. You don't need to do anything but supply the food. I HIGHLY suggest you go to the supermarket your first day. It can get very expensive to eat out in Aruba. You would probably spend about $100+ a day eating out, and that's just two people eating a nice dinner and a sparse lunch. I suggest taking the bus to Ling and Sons which is close to downtown by the Valero and such. ask the bus driver and he'll announce it. Once you get off the bus, you have to walk to Ling and Sons. Takes about 5-10 mins. Definitely take a cab back. Prices at Ling and Sons are in Florins so don't panic, in general, 1 dollar= approx. 1.75 Florins. Prices for standard items in Aruba are high, on average, everything is about 25-50% higher because they import EVERYTHING. I suggest over buying on breakfast, lunch, and dinner foods. You'll save in the long run. A nice dinner for two will run you about 80-100 bucks with tip. The hotel has a few nice restaurants on the grounds. We only tried La Vista for the breakfast buffet (they offer a discount), which was good. Champions in the lobby was a nice hangout. It was spacy, and served good drinks. The cheesecake dessert they sell was delicious.
The pool was nice, it wasn't crowded at all. I swam mostly in the afternoon, after the sun got to the beach side of the hotel, so I would imagine it would've been more crowded during the day. The beach is made of a coarse sand and the waters are crystal clear. My only complaint is that there are two many palapas on the beachfront. Sometimes less is more with regards to beaches. Water sports are available. I chose to ride the jet skis with Pangea for about 55 bucks for a half hour. They transported me by boat to another beach where I was able to ride. Make sure you try the Jolly Pirate tour. Fun stuff.
Be careful of the sun, especially around 2. It doesn't feel hot, but you'll be tanned or burned in no time. Check out my other reviews for restaurant recommendations. We would definitely revisit.

We own Marriott vac club properties in Hi at Ko'Olina. Wanted something a bit different and got booked into the Ocean club. read a few reviews before we went and were somewhat disappointed by the reviews that we were not at the surf club.

When we arrived we found the resort to be beautiful. We did request and get a room change as our first room was far away from the beach and view and instead overlooked the receiving area, I did firmly state that I expected to be relocated and I was into a beautiful 6th floor room with a fantastic view, it never hurts to ask, and ask again. we were in a generous sized 1 bedroom with a large 2 person jacuzzi, and full kitchen and large balcony.

The ocen club was great. beautiful pools and lots of palapas to reserve on the beach. the surf club is newer and absolutely huge!! itis also walk to wall people. unpleaseantly crowded the pool is no where near the water, quite a hike out to the beach and few palapas available there, we were very happy to be at the ocean club.

Aruba has a constant wind (breeze) plan on casual hair styles. no need to dress up anywhere we went,. we did but didn't NEED to. steel drum bmusic out by the pool daily, swim up bar, lunch at the beach. All good!

We sailed on and highly recommend the jolly pirate trip. book online for the discount,. 2 adults for the entire day with generous lunch of chicken kabobs, ribs and all the trimmings , rope swing and 3 snorkel stops for $50.00 each. a true bargain. Crew is great and don't try to sell souvenirs , t shifts, photos or any of that stuff. very refreshing!! it was a blast!!

great snorkeling at baby beach. ask the people who run the snack bar where to go and they will point you in the right direction lots of great fish and very clear water,

we enjoyed diner on the sand at 2-3 different restaurants. service was courteous, prompt and food excellent. of course the prices are high at least as high as hawaii.
drinking h2o on the island is excellent. they desalinate all their water and it is much better than bottled water. don't waste the $$ on bottled water.

groceries stores are mainly in dutch. good luck!!

we loved the ocean club, the surf seemed like a zoo. i would avoid it if I could, although with a batch of little kids the pools are cooler for sure.

We plan to return one of these days but want to check out st Martin and st kits as well.
Ah, so many islands, so little time ......

The resort was very beautiful! We had a 2 bedroom unit that was very clean and quite. It was a little dated but a reno is upcoming. We loved the pool and found chairs and quite spots all around, and yes the surf club is more crowded and louder. The beach was also nice and quite on the ocean club side.Palpas were no problem to get for free.I would recommend renting a float for the water $5 a day,it was nice just floating out on the water.
We took the bus into the down town area $5 roundtrip for 2 people. It was very convient and easy, the bus stops right outside the hotel.
We also found a nice place to eat called LaVista at the Marriott hotel. They had a dinner buffet every night with a different theme for $35pp.They also had a breakfast buffet for $22pp which was also excellent. We also had lunch at the Pavilion, which is by the ocean club pool. The food was good and reasonable.Drinks can be very pricey.
All the people we met along the way were very friendly and welcomed you to their island and made you feel right at home. The weather was sunny and 90s everyday with a great and cooling breeze, but be warned use sunscreen or you will burn!
Overall we had a great vacation and would highly recommend Aruba and the Marriott Ocean Club!!!!!!
