“Marriott Ocean Club”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 27, 2014

My husband & I stayed at the Surf Club for a week then moved over to the Ocean Club for a week. I love the fact that the Surf Club has a washer & dryer in the room the Ocean Club doesn't but they do have them in a shared area. If it's just my husband & I we prefer the Ocean Club, less people and a larger beach. Everything is right there pool, hot tub, beach, restaurants, shops but most of all our favorite thing to do is just RELAX!

I thought Aruba would be so beautiful to visit. I was unpleasantly disappointed. Marriott Ocean Club was not at all accommodating to their guests as if they don't need anyone's business. I thought the ocean would be so clear…but it was so murky around the resort, that I almost didn't want to go into the water. The resort gives you discounts to their outrageous dining experience but would only honor it if you presented it right there and then. The hotel for the price is NOT worth it. It's a 2-3 star at best. Don't bother getting their $10 margaritas! It's so watered down, you might as well order a virgin! Oh and their so called activities? Tennis? You'd have to rent and pay for the racquet! The staff there doesn't know ANYTHING. You ask them about advises, they can't even help you! Why bother working at the hotel? The hotel employs incompetent representatives. They have one rental car representative who took one hour per guest to do a transaction. Aruba is over-priced and not worth the trip for me. If you want to see Aruba, just go on a cruise and stop by for several hours. Go to the Philippines instead! Boracay beats Aruba! Cheap food, great beaches, cheap entertainment!

Room Tip: Don't go to this resort!

This was our first time to Aruba, and we enjoyed it!

Our family of 4 stayed at the Ocean Club the 4th of July week. This was our time share exchange. We stayed in a 1BR with full kitchen. Our room was on a 2nd floor in the 500's block. The balcony is spacious and over looking the Iguana Sanctuary (a desert garden). The rooms on this side do not have the ocean view. Even so, I really like our room's location, as the balcony is in the shade all day long, and this area is quiet. There is daily iguana feeding, starting at 10am. This is hit for young children (and my husband). It is fun to watch from the balcony or run down to participate.

The room is nice modern, clean, and comfortable. The Marriott Ocean Club is situated in between the Marriott Stellaris and the Surf Club. Guests of the Ocean Club share the fitness center in the Stellaris and may use the pools. However, the pools and the Lazy River in the Surf Clubs are exclusives to Surf's guests.

The Marriott resorts are some what centrally located in this high rise area. It is walking distance to a small mall and shops. Palm Beach is nice and calm. Water sports rentals are all along the beach. Beach chairs are set up for resort's guests. Canopy is to be reserved and rented. The daily fee is $10-15 depending how close the canopy is to the ocean. The pools are nice and much less crowded compared to next door's Ocean Club pools and Lazy River. The staff is friendly and helpful. The concierge was happy to make your restaurant and tour reservations. Internet is free, and that was a HUGE plus. We had an outage for one day, and IT did try hard to restore. They did care and called back to check.

We didn't rent a car for the week and I wish we had. Even though the island is less than 20 miles long and 6 miles wide, which mean you can easily tour the whole island in 1 day. With a car, you can get to the other beaches for snorkeling, jump the waves, as well as getting to the harder to reach restaurants in the southern part of the island. There are plenty of taxi and public buses. The 1 way taxi cost from the airport to the high rise hotel area is $25-30 (surcharge on Sunday). Weekly car rental in Aruba is very reasonable (if you waived the insurance). We ended up renting a car from Hertz, who has a desk in the resort's lobby, the day before we left. We toured the island on our own. Then took ourselves to the Airport the next morning. There is a small fee for different location dropped off.

I highly recommend the Marriott Ocean, and definitely would stay there again when we return to Aruba. We love the 10min fireworks on the 4th, courtesy of the Hyatt, a few resorts down the beach. Fantastic views, and no traffic 'going home' when it was over :-). It make you proud to be an American when July 4th is celebrated in a foreign county :-)

We got the opp to use families timeshare. Was pretty nice place. The restaurants were not that great though. Good views and over priced watery drinks. Mostly everything was really expensive. Felt like we had to tip everyone too.

We have been here 3 of the last 5 years and love it. This is perfect for a relaxing vacation over the surf club. If you have kids go to Surf Club they are more gear for large families with children. My wife & I prefer the Ocean Club because it's less crowded & more couples are there. It has a large beach with plenty of room.

The condo itself was lovely. It was a one bed bedroom with a king bed, one bathroom, full kitchen, dining room and living room with a sofa bed. The deck was off of the living room and master bedroom. It was an ocean view. The hotel is right on the beach. Beautifully decorated condo. The property was clean and felt safe. Excellent restaurants close by. Swim up pool bar. Kids activities such as art class. Bingo, water aerobics etc...

Relaxing, relaxing, relaxing is the best way to describe it. Get food, great hospitality, great weather. When am I going back??? Make sure to take some type of boat ride. The casino is great and the snack area next to it is delicious 24/7.

Room Tip: They are all good
