“Aruba just keeps getting better!!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 9, 2014

This is my 7th time in Aruba but first time at Marriott Ocean Club. I will start out stating the obivious and tell you that Aruba is a great place to vacation. From the weather to the people to the beautiful beaches it is top notch in the caribbean. Visiting Baby Beach is always on the top of our list and never fails to supply us with plenty of fish while snorkeling and is very kid friendly.
There are plenty of options for dinner on the island so an all-inclusive is not needed.
-El Gaucho is my favorite with its great steaks.
-Cuba's Cookin' was right downtown by the marina and had good food with a quaint environment.
-The Buccaneer Restaurant has decent seafood but the atmosphere is what stands out. You have
a feeling of dining underwater because the whole place is surrounded by an aquarium.
There are many other places to eat to fit anybody's taste buds. Food is a little expensive but remember you are on vacation and just enjoy it.
Now as far as the Marriott Ocean Club, which is a timeshare resort, we just loved it there. Check-in was fairly easy, but had to wait 10 minutes for room to be ready. We had a 2 bedroom unit on the 5th floor overlooking the pool and the beach. One can cut costs by utilizing the full kitchen in your room. Grounds and pool are well kept and it is fairly quiet compared to the other 2 Marriott resorts next door. I guess if there was one thing I disliked, it would be that we had to walk through the lobby everytime we ventured in and out from the pool/beach area.
This resort is on Palm beach (high rise hotel area) and differs from Eagle beach (low rise hotel area). Palm beach is where it is all happening. Eagle beach is definitely more laid back. Both are great in their own right. Rent a car and experience the whole island - it is worth it.
One more thing if you like piano bars. Go to Sopranos and have a couple of drinks you will not be disappointed. It is fun when the crowd really gets into it. I will be looking forward to visiting Aruba again.

We have been visiting the Ocean Club and Surf Club in Aruba for 5 years. We have found the staff wonderful, the rooms spacious and well-equipped, the pool/beach food and service fine, the palapa process smooth, and the beach and water lovely. (We do recognize the need for somewhat overdue updates of the carpet and furnishings, at least some of which is in progress right now.) But, sadly, we are looking elsewhere on Aruba for lodgings, because this place is too noisy too much of the time, with loudly amplified games of Bingo and Name that Song and Not So Newlywed, and music that skews to a youthful, partying crowd, and that is so loud I'm sure someone's toe is tapping over in Venezuela. Between our winter trip and this one, my husband acquired the finest noise-cancelling headset he could buy, and, even wearing it at the ocean's edge, he could still hear the amplified chatter and annoying beat from poolside. I can tell from comments I overhear that we are not alone in wishing more days could be like the Wednesday "serenity day," but I guess we must be in the minority in longing for the peace to read our books and doze. So we will vote with our feet and wallets.

We have been owners at the ocean Club since 2001 and this is our seventh visit to Aruba. The accommodation is always good and Marriott keep it very clean and up to date. Love the location on the Beach and also impressed with the upgrades they have made to Sands Eatery at the pool

Room Tip: We like to be on a higher floor. This time we stayed in a room which over looked the next door Marri...

Great weather, beautiful beach, awesome room and very friendly staff made our week just perfect. We ended up with a room on the 1st floor which at first concerned us but ended up being very convenient access to pool and beach. No waiting for elevators. Excursions, restaurants and drinks are very pricey so it really helped to have full kitchen. We highly recommend the Jolly Pirate snorkeling trip for people of all ages. The kids also did the Jolly Pirates ATV tour and had a great time. We will definitely be coming back to the Ocean Club!

This place used to be quieter, now it has just gotten noisy. They start playing music for Water Aerobics at 10am, start calling amplified Bingo numbers at 1pm, then loud music at Happy Hour from 3pm to 5pm, then nightly soft music at The Sands (formerly Pavillion). It is too much on top of the kids screaming. I hope they turn it down during the school year. This was always the quiet resort compared to the adjacent Surf Club. I miss the quietness.

The food selections have improved over the years. The alcoholic drinks are still overpriced and weak (hardly any alcohol in a small glass for $11.00). The Sands Eatery by the beach is a nice addition. The menu choices are delicious, especially the skirt steak.

The rooms and building structure are showing age, despite a major renovation just five years ago. There are some minor cosmetic changes taking place this year. I would be cautious about booking between now and the next major renovation in 2019. The kitchen drawers are not holding up. The health club equipment is original (15 years old?).

The new laundry dryers are communal and take forever to dry. Inadequate for the number of guests using them. Bring enough clothes or send it out.

I would give the indoor staff a high rating. There are not enough pool staff, or they are not attentive. We had trouble getting service at the pool, or beach; they used to have food and beverage service at the beach. We did not see it this time.

Be prepared for the "Towel Auditors." Do people really steal towels? This is both in the rooms (not enough left in the room, they expect you to reuse towels I suppose). The pool towels are plentiful, but they track them heavily, so you cannot take them to the room to make up for the housekeeping shortfall in your unit. It is nuts. I feel like a "towel criminal" for using them.

Finally, this facility has a Marriott Destination Club sales facility. You will be solicited as you arrive. They will call your room. And there will be tours given around the pool. When I bought here, I assumed the Sales Office would disappear after the Surf Club was built.

Room Tip: Ask for a room overlooking a pool. Avoid corner rooms which are smaller.

I stayed here with my family for one week. It is beautiful! The pools are beautiful. The sand on the beach is white and the water is pretty. The staff at this hotel is terrific! We stayed here around 2007. We went back and stayed at the Surf beside of it 2011. It was also terrific! I can not wait to go back. Loved both very much! There is a restaurant at the end of the island where the light house is located on a hill and you have the best view of the water. I loved it! We went parasailing and had a terrific time. The locals are very nice.

The Beach Boys knew what they were doing when they put Aruba first in the song. That's where it belongs. We've been here a few times and never get tired of it. The food is great! See those reviews! The view is breathtaking. See the photos, and the weather can't be beat. The Marriott has perfected the art of accommodations. You have to put this one on your bucket list! I did and keep on putting it back on after I've been here. Our friends have a time share here and we love to share time here with them.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the north tower as high up as possible.
