“Go For the View”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 30, 2012

The view doesn't get much better than this. A restaurant on the end of a pier extending out from one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. Amazing sunsets. Clear Caribbean waters. Throw a piece bread in the water and watch the fish. Incredible views of the Aruba shoreline brightly lit by the setting sun. Go here for the atmosphere, not the food.

Two visits to the Pelican Nest and on each occasion the food and service was average at best and expensive; but, the setting is over the top beautiful. Mother nature does it best and the Pelican Nest is right in the middle of the best mother nature has done.

I'm sure I will visit again, but I think I will stick to a nice bottle of wine and some appetizers.

“Pales in comparison for lunch after Bugaboo”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 20, 2012

We've had lunch several times at Bugaloo located one pier down, and tried Pelican's Nest for something different. It was fine, but paled in comparison to the fun, casual vibe at Bugaloo, so I was very disappointed.

“On a Pier in the Water. Awesome view, good food!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 15, 2012

This restaurant is located in front of the Hyatt on a pier in the ocean.

The location is amazing. There are boats that dock on the pier, so there's constant boat activity. The food was very good and very reasonably priced. We both had tilapia and both meals were fantastic. Good mojitos too!

Perfect spot for lunch!

“Fairly dissapointing”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 23, 2012 via mobile

This quaint little restraunt sits out on a pier over the ocean, our table was right on the edge of the pier, seemed like an idyllic spot for a vacation dinner. Our server was very nice, kept our glasses filled and our food came in a timely manner. But sadly that was pretty much the best part of the experience. We ordered crab cakes that looked like they had been previously frozen and made in a crab cake factory in Kansas. I had the shrimp caesar salad. The shrimp was delicious but it was over warm lettuce, yuk. My husband had the breaded shrimp and it was just okay also. The biggest surpise came with our bill. The menu said the gratuity would be automatically added to our bill. When the bill came it was labeled as a service charge. We asked our waitress about it and she said "it was not a tip but a charge the owner added as a fee and it did not go to the staff". We did leave an additional tip in case she was telling the truth, but overall we felt rather ripped off for mediocre food!

To sum it up we wouldn't go back. My suggestion would be for the Pelican's Nest to step it up a little. They have an awesome location and not much else to back it up. It might be nice if the got a person who speaks and writes English to translate their menu too.

“Decent but nothing stellar”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2012

This was a decent place to grab some lunch before on of our snorkeling trips, but nothing amazing, and overpriced. The burger was good, but their "famous ceviche" was overly limey for my taste, but a very generous portion. The server was not friendly and probably was the only not happy person on the island. I wouldnt recommend going out of your way to eat here, but if you're in the area, its decent enough.
