“a gem that needed some TLC to blossom and just got it with new owners”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 30, 2011

My wife an I spent 2 weeks in Aruba with our 2 year old daughter. We wanted to stay away from the big resorts and the hotel rooms. Boardwalk was perfect for us as it offers the bungalow (they call them casitas) concept where you have your own place with a closed bedroom, a living room and fully equipped kitchen. We had casita #1 which has a wonderful private area with hamac, terrasse and BBQ.

The casita like the whole place was very clean and in good condition although you can tell it was time for new owners to take the baton.

This is what just happened 3 months ago with the new owners Stephanie and Kimberly ...

Now this is where a nice place turns really special...

I have traveled all around the world for both business and leisure but I have never seen such a natural and simple customer focus service... Stephanie, Kimberly and their staff are simply incredible when it comes to make your time on the island as easy and enjoyable as possible... it started before we arrived with very personalized answers to all our questions and help to book activities and never stopped until we left.

They also have a lot of ideas to grow this place into something really special and I am really curious to see how far they can take it... they have a lot of ideas and the passion it takes to get there...

After 2 weeks, it felt like we were staying at some friends' place... Carmen who was the person who took care of our casita was a sweetheart and our little Zoe was completely crazy about her

Few things to share:

- if you are stressed, tensed, tired or whatever... ask them to book you with Flo... A super nice guy who studied massages in China with Doctors... The massage itself is not a walk in the park and can be quite painful... but incredibly efficient... If your neck, your back or whatever is stuck... trust me... get them to book you with him... he will come to your casita and take care of you
- if you are like us parents of young ones and you are torn between spending time with your kids and enjoying your vacation... there is a simple answer: Vivianne... She is the baby sitter recommended by the staff and she is wonderful... Our 2 year old loved her and had a lot of fun with her while we were able to spend 3 very nice evenings ... Very professional... we felt in good hands right away although we have never used baby sitter before on trips.

The only reason I gave a 4 stars is because the place shows it was due for a new administration and for some refresh... The 5 star is no doubt ahead and we will go back to check that by ourselves

thks to everyone there for the great time! We won't even check other places for our next trip to Aruba... and there will be a next time for sure ...

PS: Zoe says hi to Lola ;-)

Me and my husband visited Aruba from 16th to 26th aug. I had watched so many times at pictures of Boardwalk that when we arrived at the roundabout at the crossroad, I saw it on the left...and I was so excited! We found Kimberly and Fanny there, and they were a revelation! Nice, gentle, always smart with right suggestions, they have just entered the BOardwak management, and they are planning renovations of which I saw the pictures! In a world, fantastic.
But let's come to the Boardwalk as it is today: we stayed in casita #21, great choice, on the first floor, a big terrance were I had my breakfast at 6:30 in the morning, lunch and dinner, as there is always a nice breeze and it is a pleasure to eat there, I never did it inside. The living room is huge, there is everything you need, tv, another table with 4 chairs, 2 sofas, a big kitchen (maybe here I would suggest some more tools and new nonstick pan).
The bedroom has a very very comfortable king size bed, I am missing it!! The bathroom maybe shows its years (infact they are going to renew it), but I hope they won't change the stle of the shower, I love it, you can walk in it and it is very big (my husband said we cannot have it at home, it's almost big as my bathroom..).
We had rented a car for the 10 days, and we traveled up and down the island! Everything was lovely, I will bear Aruba and the Boardwalk in my heart forever!

Thank you for all the kind words and the great tips. We love it when guests share their experiences with new guests. It is difficult to capture in words what Boardwalk Hotel Aruba exactly entails. But making you feel at home, with all the convenience for you to enjoy your holiday to the fullest, is our end goal... And we are so happy you did! Many sunny greetings from Aruba to Italy!

We stayed at the Boardwalk for a week. We rented a two bedroom casita and it had everything we needed and more: the beds were very comfortable, we had a lovely patio with cushioned chairs, coolers to take to the beach, beach chairs, full-sized fridge, etc., and the staff and owners were all great. They could not have done more to help us. This was our first trip to Aruba and I am so glad we stayed here rather than a high rise. We could walk to everything we needed: mostly we just walked across the street to the beach and windsurfing! There were nice places to have happy hour and eat very close-by on the beach. We swam in the private pool each night, under moonlight and palm trees: everything was perfect! We hope to go back!

One word: Paradise...
If you pull up towards The Boardwalk you immediately notice the difference in vegetation compared the rest of Aruba.... Wonderful wild flourishing garden. The shadow of the Palm trees.. the grass. It looks so appealing and peaceful just walking there. The apartment we stayed in was really nice. Its rather spacious, has a very convenient kitchen, really nice bed an bathroom. I especially liked the walk-in shower. The living room has comfortable seating. But mostly you will be in front of your apartment on your own nice patio with tasteful wooden furniture.

Its a minute walk from the beach and 10 minute walk to the highrise area where all the restaurants, shopping and nightlife is happening. So you have everything close, but with the peace of desertion.

Last but not least is the kind and helpful staff and owners of this little oase.
This was the firsttime we stayed in the Boardwalk while on Aruba and we are definitely coming back.

regards, Joris

Thank you for the lovely review. We also love the garden! When we (new owners) first discovered Boardwalk ourselves we fell in love with the garden, the pool and the authentic vibe of the hotel. It is an amazing place and we are happy you shared your experience with future guests! Looking forward to make your next stay even more wonderful!

We stayed for 11 days for our honeymoon and had a great time. I'd been too busy with wedding planning to mention that we were coming for a honeymoon, and we were initially given a casita with 2 double beds, but were switched to one with a king bed right away. We also came back the first night to find a bottle of wine and a card (thanks again!)

Our casita was very comfortable, and we really enjoyed being able to go grocery shopping and have some meals & drinks "at home" rather than go out for everything. The kitchen was well stocked and housekeeping did a great job each day.

It's a short walk or drive to the Marriott across the street, where we had full use of the beach and lounge chairs. Martin arranged a rental car for us, which we'd highly recommend if you're staying for a while - it's fun to zip around the island, and very convenient for groceries.

The only negative was the mosquitoes - they seemed to swarm outside our door and a few inevitably got in each day, where they could then chomp us all night. It looked like something was being sprayed around the casitas on the day we left, so perhaps it's not an issue any more.

We feel honored that you stayed with us for your honeymoon! We love you to feel at home here and happy you did so! Thank you for your kind words. Regarding the mosquitos: we indeed got a new state of the art fogger! We truly hope to welcome you back soon. Many greetings from our entire team.

We greatly enjoy all of our stays at the Boardwalk. The staff is so friendly and we love the quiet and very local environment as opposed to the giant hotel scene. It's not fancy but it's close to the beach and a very comfortable. The new owners are wonderful and have some good plans for upgrades and improvements. We have already reserved our time for next year!

We have been here for 10 days an we'll definitely come back. The nice sisters Kimberly and Stephanie just took over the hotel and offered a great service to us. The apartments are big, nice and clean. The hotel is located 5 min walking distance to the beach and the best surfing schools (kite&windsurf). The pool was the meeting point for the guests and all guests we met (families, surfers, couples, older people) felt that this is the right place to stay on Aruba! Much nicer than all the big hotel chains on the beach!
