“Beach is Beautiful at the RIU PALACE ARUBA”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 12, 2014

What a beautiful hotel. Great, long beach. The lobby is very nice and the rooms are very clean. DO NOT stay in the Hotel Rooms..........pay for the "Junior Suites", they are in the "NEW" part of the hotel and they don't smell old and musty like the "Hotel Rooms". The "Hotel Rooms" are NOT a five (5) star maybe not even a 4 star. The hotel is right across the street to ALL the action. From restaurants to bars to shopping, everything is a few minutes by foot away. The have a path along the beach to get you from hotel to hotel and it is safe even at 3am with security guards walking up and down the path ways. This is a great place to stay and I would come back again. The only bad thing is that this hotel is a fortune. It is VERY expensive ALL year round so if you plan on going......save up your pennies because it's going to be more money than any European trip that you ever go on. If they made it more affordable, it would be nice for the rest of the world. If you have money........it's a great place to stay!!!

Room Tip: DO NOT book the "Hotel Room"...........this part of the hotel is a 3 star NOT a five (5) s...

Went last year and loved it. If you are familiar with the Riu chain you know that you are getting great service. We stayed in the Suite with gorgeous ocean views. The property is beautiful and well maintained but do not expect lush gardens as you see in Mexico or other warm climate countries. It is very dry there and pretty much everything has difficulty growing. Aruba is a great place if you want gauranteed weather. Because that is what you are paying for. in 10 days we had one night of light showers. Nothing but blue sky. The food was wonderful, but remember it is all inclusive. the staff were friendly and did a great job. The island itself is very small and not much to see however, it is jam packed with amazing restaurants. Dont miss out. there are a few that are right on the beach so pretty much dont wear high heels because you will be going barefoot. The water was warm and clean and amazing. We took the catamaran ride they offer and snorkeled and had lunch. Now that was well worth it and i would recommend to anyone. As we went with another couple, i cant say anything about what activities they had for children. sorry. Rooms were large spacious and clean. Only beef there is the other inconsiderate people slamming doors late at night and early morning, but that does not reflect poorly on the hotel at all. All in all, we would recommend this hotel for seniors and couples and groups. Its a great lay out and not huge. you get around easy. The pools are great, though we are beach people and never stepped into the pools. lol. There is shopping in town which is close by but really nothing special. Like every other island and the stores closed very early. There is gambling as well everywhere you turn but again, we did very little of that but did go and check them out. We did rent a jeep and did a short off road trip and collect plenty of shells. we went to other very small gorgeous beaches which were amazing as well. All in all amazing relaxing great trip. If you are considering an all inclusive trip, we say go for it to the Riu Palace Aruba.

Room Tip: Stay away from the older renovated side.(cant remember which section that was but it is different th...

Four of us stayed at the Riu Palace from February 3-10th. It was a girls vacation.

We upgraded to Junior Suites and were on the 7th floor of Building A. Great location and our rooms were side by side.

Hotel is very nice, food is fantastic, but the best thing about the Riu Palace is the fantastic bartender at the main bar.... Freddy, you made our vacation memorable! Anyone going there, please go into the bar and meet him, you won't be sorry.

The lobby is a bit smelly from smoke in the casino. Riu, you need to improve this as my girlfriend is allergic to smoke and it was tough walking through the lobby to the elevators and being overwhelmed with the smell of smoke.

Room Tip: Upgrade to Building A, you won't be sorry.

Stayed here over the summer with my girlfriend and we both loved it. The staff was friendly and seemed to go the extra mile to make our stay extra special. The beach and resort were beautiful and the weather there is top notch. The food was also much better than we expected, on and off the resort. If you want a romantic dinner I'd suggest the Flying Fishbone, bit of a drive from the Riu but definitely worth it in my opinion.

We stayed there for 7 days, and had a problem with the toilet leaking we had to put towels on the floor to absorb the water, the shower was leaking constantly, the TV didn't work, and the sliding door did not lock. We had to go to the front desk every day to complain and 5 days later they decided to send someone to look at our leaking toilet, said they would come back to fix it and never did. Went to the front desk to ask to be switched to a new room and said they cannot move us so we had to deal with the leaking toilet issue, and my husband ending up fixing the TV to make it work somewhat there was a moldy smell in the room and the room was old and not updated at all, stayed at other Riu resorts and this one is by far the worst.

Staff was not helpful at all, they didn't care about our issues.
Food was not that great, the food off the resort was 10 times better.
Pool was ok, floor were always sticky from drinks that get spilled on the floor, beach was beautiful and the night life of the resort was great.

Aruba is a beautiful place would go back but not to this hotel, for the money I spent not a 4+ hotel.

Room Tip: Do not stay in Building C

We stayed there 4 nights as a couple, our ocean front room was so damp and humid and had musty and chemical(from detergent) smell to it, we enjoyed the buffets, drinks ,beach and the pool a lot, we ended up renting the Hut from outside vendor on the beach, we didn't care much about the specialty restaurants , we dined out 2 nights and the outside restaurants were fantastic.... If i ever go back to Aruba i"ll pick a different hotel just because of the room.Aruba is just to relax and eat, if you look for more things to do pick another Island.

Room Tip: building B higher rooms, smell the room before finalizing it, ask to change if humid.

We stayed in two different hotels during our trip and was glad to leave this hotel due to the smell of the rooms. It was like a sewage/musky/mildew/dirty mop smell. As I read some of the other reviews, a simple dehumidifier would have probably done the trick. We had to move rooms after the first night we were there because of the smell. We were on a lower floor and it seemed to be worse the closer to the lower level you got. Changed rooms and it was better. Other than the smell, the hotel was fantastic!! Service was on top of thing and the amount of food was unbelievable!! If you left a meal hungry, there was something wrong. Very clean. Lobby was very empty..
