Beautiful hotel and grounds, staff attentive but at times slow to serve especially at the bar areas. Entertainment not brilliant but watchable but quite low key really for 5 star, needs to be sorted out.
Food was amazing with 4 alternative restaurants to go to instead if the usual buffet which was more than enough, bar in the room was a nice benefit before going or dinner, the only downside is the rooms Thomson use are not the suites and are on the right side of the hotel and don't have window blinds or balconies, this wasn't a major problem but to sit out at times late evening we missed, the beach s heaven if you can find a lounger, same story around the pool, hunting or beds even at 8am!! It's very windy but you need it as the heat is mid 30's everyday, trips are good we did the sea walk trip......fantastic, bit scary at first but an amazing experience. Great island and the tour we took was great, a must, would definitely return as this island I felt was more beautiful than Barbados.

The Riu was like a palace from entry to exit. It was our first all-inclusive stay anywhere and what a treat!!! Over indulgence doesn't describe it well!!!! We celebrated our 30th wedding anniversary and will never forget it!! The restaurants and staff were awesome. The nightly shows were very entertaining!! The beach is gorgeous!!! We had no problems to report, only wonderful staff and beautiful resort!!! The housekeepers were phenomenal as well as the entire staff throughout the resort!!! Activities at the pool were awesome like afternoon zumba!!! I can't say enough great things!!! Don't hesitate just book it!!!

Room Tip: We were in the main building on the 10th floor and had a junior suite!!! Our balcony overlooked the...

We went to this hotel in June this year , lovely hotel , rooms were slightly dated when we asked for a upgrade as we were on our honeymoon( which the travel agent advised we get) they knew nothing about it and said we are fully booked we will move you next week. We asked a few times but never got moved. Food we couldn't fault and drink was all branded alcohol.
Beaches were like paradise and the locals were very friendly. Safe to walk out of a night time.
The only problem was not enough sun beds and you had to get up at 6am to get one.
This location is very windy so take some clips to pin your towels down.
Overall a beautiful location and top hotel would definitely recommend the safari trip !

My husband & I stayed at the Riu from Nov 19th to the 26th. Upon arrival we found our standard room upgraded, room #0237( no view) was big and comfy even though it was apparently in the older building. Bed was hard but topper was provided promptly when asked. Hotel site, ground were clean and well kept. Staff was courteous and helpful. Food was fantastic - this coming from picky eaters, great variety for all meals. Location was great as proximity to local shopping and bars was either walking distance or short bus ride, perfect for us. Simply all you could ask for. Best beach, nice island & safe. Note: Be wary of excursion deals (Jeep tour) if choosing other than De Palma, Mr. Aruba made it all good but ownership and equipment sub-par.

Oceanview room # 513, very nice room, only issue with the whole experience is the bed being like sleeping on a boxspring & the pillows made of tissue paper...but 1st morning went to the front desk & they had a foam pad & more pillows on the bed for the 2nd night. Enjoyed all the food & drinks, staff friendly, especially Freddy in the bar at night, very happy funny man & interesting to talk to.....Loved Aruba, very clean, friendly, safe, drivers very courteous, but that might be the rules of the road, but found it very nice instead of the rude drivers from Toronto. Yes take the bus, very easy & cheap....Aruba celebrates Christmas, was very happy to see Merry Christmas everywhere & the beautiful decorations. Found the prices pretty much par with Ontario Canada prices, some better deals.....Lots of Jewellery if you are interested. Weather was wonderful 86 degrees plus every day, rained a couple of times at night. The ocean is amazing...there are tons of beach chairs at the Riu, just not alot of shade, have to get up & be down at the beach to reserve you spot about 6am if you want or need shade........I recommend the hotel & the beautiful country of Aruba.

My husband and I stayed here at the beginning of November. We were told Aruba was a beautiful island so it had been on our bucket list. The RIU Palace was our choice as we have stayed in RIU's before. We had some trouble with the check-in between Signature Vacations and the Front Desk. Once that was sorted out we were happy to have the room of which we paid for. We finally got our Jr. Suite with Oceanview on the 7th floor of the main building. Very spacious and clean with turndown service. The RIU has all the ambience that you would expect. Service in all the restaurants were excellent. We tried them all but to our disappointment the Italian one was closed and we were not a big fan of the Japanese one. The nightly entertainment was very disappointing but they have a casino on site for something to keep you occupied. Everything on site was clean, an abundance of food & drinks and their staff really do try hard to get you to participate in activies. The beach area is crowded with little shade so you may spend a lot more time in the water. Overall, the island is very safe, there is shopping and other restaurants and hotels to explore in the area and I would definitely recommend the hotel and the island to other travellers.
