The Playa Linda is a home away from home. One of the best time shares in Aruba. We meet family.
and friends each year and have a wonderful time. The staff is the best and is so friendly and the grounds are beautiful.

My family and I have been going to Playa Linda since it was built in the 1980s and love it more each year. Location, location, location: Playa Linda was built smack-dab in the center of Palm Beach, Aruba's so-called "high-rise" resort area. High-rise is relative, as Playa Linda tops out at seven floors. We have watched Palm Beach grow up around Playa Linda, and the area is now a bustling hub with two shopping centers and many restaurants and casinos within easy walking distance. Playa Linda, by virtue of its location and decision not to include a casino on the premises, remains a wonderful, low-key place for families to enjoy the beautiful beach that is steps away from your unit. This is a timeshare, where all units have kitchens and balconies and even the studies are larger than hotel rooms. There is a mini-market on premises so you can stock your unit with basics for breakfast and/or lunch, and grills available if you want to have dinner in. There are also a couple of fine restaurants on premises -- Amuse Bistro serves a wonderful variety of food that is available in appetizer or entree-sized portions and is great for people-watching, and Azzuro serves solid Italian food and has a gorgeous view overlooking the beach and ocean. When owners plan not to use the week they purchased, they often rent it out through management so occasionally units are available to non-owners. It's definitely worth inquiring if you are planning to visit Aruba!

We were guests at the Playa Linda, because we have a friend who has a time share there. The accommodations are very nice! The restaurants, especially Azzuras is excellent! The staff goes "out of their way" to help you. My husband had an earache, and they picked up ear drops for him. The recreation staff is wonderful. The water aerobics / bingo caller is very personable . She is friendly and our-going. This is a great place to vacation in every aspect!

Room Tip: The higher the floor....the better the view!

My family and I have been a going to the Playa Linda since the mid-1980's. My parents owned time shares here and eventually our family bought time shares here. It is a beautiful place. The weather is virtually the same each day. Truly a paradise. The building is the most unique on the island. The sand is a soft white powder, no shells, just perfect. The Playa Linda is home to several, restaurants, bars, and shops. It even houses it's own spa. This hotel is also in the middle of it all. Across the street there are restaurants (Smokey Joe's) bars, shops, and a shopping mall. You do not need a car if you stay here; everything you need is here. The staff could not be nicer; from the front desk, to the house cleaning crew, to the staff on the beach, great people.
Facility:
Over the years the Playa Linda has grown in leaps and bounds, ( so has the entire island). The facility has an array of rooms to accommodate any budget and family size; among the 214 rooms there are studios, 1 bedroom, and 2 bedroom suites. Recently, the Playa Linda has squeezed in a 3 full size homes and shoe-horned in a dozen or so "Lanai Suites." My only concern is that I do not see that the facility upgrades, such as the pool and the addition of more cheekee huts, are not commensurate with the numbers of rooms that have been added.
Pool:
In terms of the pool, it's has been the same since the mid-80's, literally. It is looking tired. As of this writing, we did see some men surveying the pool area for its eventual refurbishment which is scheduled for this fall. I am sure that will be something great.
Cut Throat Cheekee:
The cheekee huts are another issue; for some, it is the only issue. It is known that cheekee huts on this beautiful beech, closest to the water get selected early. Some people are on the beach staking their claim to a cheekee hut as early as 4:00 AM! There are discussions that some people come down even earlier. In addition, if you choose to wake up at 3:30 AM to make the effort to grab a waterfront cheekee, you risk the chance of disturbing the delicate balance of the peace accord among the timeshare owners. Cheekee politics run deep in this community. There aren't enough for all the rooms in the building. You can come down around 6:00-7:00 and still get a cheekee hut a few feet back. There isn't much of a difference between the front and the back, but if you have children, you may want the front so you can see them play near the water's edge. If you have small kids, consider going to the pool. There are cheekee huts there and you don't have to wake up so,early to grab one. In this climate, you need the protection from the sun; it's powerful and overwhelming for children and adults alike.
Rooms:
The rooms have recently been refurbished and are clean. If you put the tag on the door, you can get maid service each day. Our girl was very attentive and was concerned with every minute detail. We stayed in a one bedroom. It has a full kitchen with a gas stove and oven. Our plan to save money was to eat breakfast and lunch in the room and eat out for dinner each night. You can go to a couple of supermarkets, Lings and Super Food. Super Food is much closer and newer. Lings has everything you need. The views from the rooms vary, but if you are lucky enough to get a room facing the pool and ocean it's just awesome. Photographers will be happy as the hotel faces west.

Just back from four weeks at Playa Linda (June 8 - July 6) and it was wonderful. We love everything about Playa Linda especially the friendly and helpful staff. Especially helpful was the housekeeper on the 5th floor, Adela Ovman, where we stayed for 3 of our 4 weeks. Adela is amazing! She did so many extra things without being asked such as rearranging the furniture so my husband could easily recharge his scooter, making sure there were refills for tissues, paper towels, etc. so that you never run out, and greeting everyone with a warm, happy smile. Playa Linda's location is ideal. Many good restaurants and shopping options are within easy walking distance. One of our favorite restaurants was Azzurro's which is on the Playa Linda property. Security is also good at the resort and I felt very safe and secure. The security staff is very visible and also quite friendly with guests especially Adelis Goder who was very friendly and helpful in the very early morning hours to the "front row hut" seekers.

Playa Linda was a great choice for the family vacation. This area of beach is just perfect. You can walk to so many restaurants and malls. There is lots to do or you can just rest under a beach hut.
The pool is very nice. The rooms are well kept and have been updated. I can't wait to return!,,,

Just returned from Playa Linda in Aruba.....stayed in 3 BR townhouse which gave our family plenty of room and was only steps to the beach! Walking distance to so many great restaurants and beach could not be nicer! Can't beat the convenience of the townhouse!
