“Great boutique type hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2014

Manchebo Beach is a quaint, small hotel - I think 72 rooms and two stories. It isn't perfect nor does it try to be. It has charming features like the hut type beach umbrellas, lovely lobby with bookshelves, great bar, and a beautiful venue for weddings, large luncheons or dinners, etc. It is quiet, feels secluded and is away from the cramped beaches, high rises and noise. The evenings are peaceful and for the most part calm unless there is a wedding. Even then, the rooms are sound enough to block out most noise.
The property has a nice French Steakhouse with very good food & service. The cafe for lunch is Pega-Pega and the food is more "fast food" type and very good. The tropical drinks are great!
Ike's Bistro offers a good, hearty breakfast buffet for around $19.
The ocean view rooms are spacious and have nice bathrooms with spacious showers. The bed was comfortable and had a ceiling fan overhead.
The real star of this hotel is the beach. It's the best on the island. The sand is soft & powdery and is very large. The best part is that it is not crowded. There is plenty of room for hotel guests - no need to reserve lounge chairs. The beach attendant will take your order for lunch or drinks and bring them to you.
The spa was also very nice. The spa itself seems to be a little on the worn side, but even that was ok given that it was on the beach. My spa hut had a nice breeze blowing through and the hot stone message was outstanding.
Yoga classes are available and a fitness center is being constructed.
Just across the street you will find Bob's Pizza. It offers very good pizzas at reasonable prices. Also, down the street is a nice market with fresh fruit and sandwiches as well as beer, soda, etc.
There is also a Dunkin Donuts (and Baskin Robbins Ice Cream), Juan Valdez Coffee Shop, piano bar, Subway, and several other clothing, souvenir shops. This is also the location for the Alhambra Casino.
The hotel staff is friendly, professional and will go out of their way to help you with reservations, taxis, etc. Tamara and Swinda were especially helpful.

Room Tip: Get a patio, ocean view room. You can see the ocean and get a visit from the geckos who love the gra...

We recently spent a 2 weeks holiday at the Manchebo in Aruba and had a fantastic time.
The hotel is perfectly located next to Oranjestad (and the airport) and next to the big (high) hotels.
Manchebo is just great because the beach is really fabulous next to your room, the service is really professional and nice. People are smiling at you and always try to accommodate your wishes whether you talk to front desk or to the people in the restaurants.
The food is was we needed, it was simply excellent

Room Tip: ALWAYS book a deluxe room with Ocean view.

It was my fiance's and my first trip to Aruba and Manchebo Resort. I agree with many things already stated - service and food are good, friendly staff, beautiful beach etc. I read several postings on Trip Advisor before going To Manchebo about not spending money on an ocean view and didn't understand what they meant since I always spend that extra $ to wake up to a view of the ocean and hear the waves at night. Now I know why:

"DELUXE OCEAN VIEW ROOM" - The picture of the view on the website is only for a very small selection of rooms (reserved for the "frequent regulars" we were told). The other deluxe ocean view rooms are really partial ocean view rooms. If you want to hear the ocean, none of the rooms will provide this as they are set back quite a way from the water and due to the winds in Aruba, all you hear from the rooms, or restaurant is wind. So I agree don't spend the significantly higher fee for an Ocean View when you might get the pool, work out area, other buildings and a somewhat ocean view room.

HOW TO SAVE $ IF NOT DOING THE ALL INCLUSIVE ROUTE - We don't like to eat a big breakfast every day. We found that right across the street (2 min walk) is a small market with snacks, wine, water, liquor (since there is a fridge in the room -stock up). In the same area is a Dunkin Donuts, Subway, Coffee Shop, and a Wine Bar in addition to boutique shops. We had a big breakfast at the hotel one day, breakfast in bed another day, and then had breakfast sandwiches or donuts the other mornings. There is also a little bagel stand not far as well. The resort does have an awesome happy hour from 5-7 pm where there are 2 for 1 drinks and they give a healthy pour. There are many restaurants in Aruba so enjoy some of the different places if you can and want to expand beyond the resort.

AGE of GUESTS: It may have just been since we were travelling off season, but most of the guests at Manchebo are the 55 and over crowd, sprinkled in with a few couples in there 20-40's. We wanted the quiet part of the island with minimal kid exposure so I guess this is what one should expect. There are many "regulars" at this resort that come every year or multiple times a year.

Room Tip: Don't spend the money on an ocean view. All rooms face the ocean in one way or the other.

I just wanted to take the time to say how unbelievably awesome Manchebo Resort was for our wedding and family vacation. We planned our wedding for a year with their wedding coordinator, Nyoka, she did such an amazing job on our wedding that it could not have been more perfect. Anytime I had a question for her or needed clarification, she was there in a heartbeat. We went down a few days before to the wedding and she was so attentive to every detail leading up to the day and even afterwards, I felt like nothing could go wrong . She was the best wedding coordinator anybody could ask for. If anybody is looking to get married in Aruba, on a beautiful beach ,at a beautiful resort, I would choose Manchebo Resort. The staff bent over backwards for us and made us feel like we were the only people at the resort. Everybody that came to our wedding raved about how great the food and service was while they stayed there. We will definitely be going back to Manchebo for our family vacations. Thank you so much for everything your guys did while we were there, you guys made it truly amazing!
Sarah

Room Tip: Pick any room that faces the ocean, they're all amazing.

Although we didn't stay at the resort my husband and I received services at the spa. We shared a cabana; he had an 80 min. massage and I the clay wrap incl. a scrub. The spa area is gorgeous. The staff are very friendly and the services were outstanding. I don't know why anyone would choose another spa over this one but it's likely because they just don't know about it. We came from the high rise area specifically for this spa and it was worth it. This will be our must do when ever we come to Aruba. It's paradise and the cost for services are much more reasonable than others. I did have some challenges booking the services but eventually was able to confirm everything via email prior to our arrival on the island. I was not asked to provide a credit card to reserve.

I also took a Thursday morning Pilates class with Barbara. Excellent class. Beautiful setting. Again another activity that I will participate in every visit to the island.

We stayed here for a destination wedding - you are footsteps from the beach! The staff is very friendly and helpful. Debbie was great - she welcomed us with a Mojoito and even made our dinner reservations for us. It is easy access to downtown and the highrise area is just a 15 minute taxi ride. We never waited for taxi's they were always there. The wedding was here as well and it was beautiful - the food was great. They have a breakfast buffet every day for $15 and you will love it!! I can't wait to go back!!

Room Tip: Ask for Ocean View - lower level

This was a beautiful place in paradise! The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is because we booked a deluxe ocean view room and when we got there they said they were over booked and could not give us our room we reserved until two days later. They did comp us with a spa visit but still I wanted what I paid for.

There were a lot of return visitors which made me feel at ease. I could definitely understand why! We will be back that is for sure. The staff is extremely pleasant and efficient. The rooms are very comfortable and the food is to die for!

Room Tip: We chose the deluxe ocean front room. It was beautiful. But really, how much time do you spend in...
