“Great holiday, but the builders were in :(”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 23, 2014

We enjoyed the hotel, especially the friendly service and the ample breakfast..! A good tip for those who want to save a bit of money though (lunch at the hotel was expensive). Hire a jeep and get down to Superfood just down the road. The self-catering experience makes this all worthwhile.

The location to the beach was just superb and the beach-table dinner experience was magnificent.

One quibble! The builders were in doing renovations, and so the pool had a lengthy closure for the majority of our trip. Anyway, with the Sea so close, that wasn't a big deal, although the noise was sometimes a bit disturbing. Luck of the draw, really - we were slightly early in the season (June 2010 - TripAdvisor won't let us go back that far).

We also recommended our newly-wed friends to go, who had an equally good time.

Thank you very much for posting your experience on Tripadvisor. At the Amsterdam Manor we do our utmost best for you to have a memorable vacation and we are happy you liked our location and dinner on the beach. We keep on investing in our resort to give our guests the quality they deserve, unfortunately the renovation of the pool was scheduled during your stay. We hope we will see you back at our resort.

My lovely daughter conspired to spirit me away to celebrate my 60th birthday and this was the place! My Goodness! It was a slice of heaven. Across the tiny street to the stunning beach with fabulous beach-side service, lovely suite, great food, a pool, friendly staff. You could not ask for a better place to wind down and enjoy paradise on earth!!!

Room Tip: The balcony suite overlooking the pool was to die for as it also has beach and ocean views.

We just returned from our first Aruba trip and are so glad we decided to stay at Amsterdam Manor! We had done some research and talked to others who had been to Aruba before picking Amsterdam Manor. Everything about the resort was perfect for us. When we arrived, we were greeted with a rum punch and a free suite upgrade. The suite was beautiful and housekeeping did a great job daily. Super Foods is a 10 minute walk so we shopped there and stocked up the kitchenette. The beach is just across the street with thatched umbrellas, chairs, umbrellas and foam pads that can be used as floats too. There is a pool and hot tub at the resort but we didn't use them. The front desk and concierge were friendly and helpful when we had questions, needed taxis, or booked tours and dinner reservations. There is also a bus stop in front which will take you up or down the coast to various stops for $2.30 each. We dined at the resort's restaurants, Passions on the Beach, Mango's and Horizons. All were very good. There is also a happy hour from 5-6 and 9-10 daily. Movie night on the beach was fun too and even included popcorn. After seeing the high rise part of Aruba with all the mega hotels, we are so glad we picked Amsterdam Manor as its one-of-a-kind and just 2 stories high. We would definitely return there!

It is good, maybe it is even very good compared to the other hotels on Aruba. I don't know because it was our first trip to Aruba. We choose Manor for the beach. Compared to the other hotels on Aruba the price was nice and the ratings were excellent on tripadvisor.
And yes the beach was perfect, but for the price you still have to have to paid, around 200 euro:
- the breakfast was poor, very simple, although the service was joyful;
- the barman was terrible, every night he was drunk, and one time he was even so drunk he smashed the glasses and was't capable anymore to serve his guests;
- the pool is very small, just suitable for kids suitable

And one issue you have to know, The hotel NOT on the beach, they advertise that some rooms have a view of the ocean, but that is a joke. There are trees and a road between the hotel and the beach. Sorry for mine late review, as a regular user of tripadvisor myself i felt obliged to nuance the excellent reviews.

Room Tip: there all different, you have to be lucky, first stock has more privacy

A Dutch saying is “beter laat, dan nooit”  “better late then never” 
As you are referring to last year’s stay I have some good news to share with you.

The beach is still perfect, the pool ( 14M * 7M, approx.. 14 yard * 7 yard, besides the kiddy pool) has remained the same, not very big indeed but our guests normally do not have a problem with it since it is as the beach they are coming for and, bear in mind, we only have 72 studios and suites. Eagle Beach is voted one of the top 5 beaches in the world for a reason.
Yes, indeed, the resort is across the street from the beach which is stated very clearly in all of our promotional material and website. It just takes a couple of minutes to cross the secondary road. Yes, we have some natural vegetation and palm trees in our garden and on the public beach, this adds to the tropical vacation experience.
We have also new mattresses, TV-sets and fridges in all our rooms. Peter, our new bartender, is doing an excellent job and you will read the positive comments online.

After staying at various resorts on the island, based upon the positive internet reviews and due to difficulty walking, I needed a smaller resort. Our family chose the Amsterdam Manor for our Christmas and New Year's holidays and we were not disappointed. The family owned resort is exactly as advertised. It was perfect for everything that my family was expecting from a beach vacation.

We were greeted at reception with a complimentary rum punch and check-in was very easy. We had booked the all inclusive package add-on and all of the options were fully explained to us. The bellman stored our luggage for us until our suite was ready. We booked a penthouse suite as well as a standard studio and requested that they be as close together to one another as possible and they were. The penthouse was large with 2 bedrooms, 2 full baths (2nd bath, no tub, shower only), dining area, living room with sleep sofa, and kitchen. The standard studio was more than sufficient for my son who literally only slept and showered there. Beds were comfortable, air conditioning worked perfectly and when you realized which direction to turn the tap there was plenty enough hot water.

The huge bonus of booking one of the penthouse suites as opposed to the two bedroom suites is that they are directly ocean front and have oversize balconies. Our balcony included not only two cushioned chaise lounges, but an oversize umbrella, table and 5 cushioned chairs. Using the hotel's complimentary wifi, I enjoyed sitting out on the balcony reading my local morning newspaper on my iPad each morning. My daughter and son-in-law enjoyed late afternoon reading while lounging on the chaises, as well happy hour watching the sunset each day. The balcony was also a spectacular place to view the fireworks (including the resort's own) along Eagle Beach on New Year's Eve.

The resort in on Eagle Beach, close enough to the activity of Palm Beach and a short bus ride away, but far enough away to not be in the middle of things. The concierge Mayra was extremely helpful in assisting us with dinner reservations and was available to help reserve a wide variety of island wide activities. If you are looking for a resort with lots of activities and a kids club this is not the right choice for you. The resort does have entertainment once a week at Mango's Restaurant rotating a Carnival show and live Mariachi band. There is a movie night on the beach and complimentary floats for the beach goers.

A buffet breakfast was served each morning at Mango's Restaurant. Though not a huge buffet, it did include a cooked to order omelets and was more than sufficient to fill us each morning throughout our stay. A huge thank you to Juan and Marleny for the outstanding service they provided serving us at breakfast and lunch each day. We ate our lunches at Passion's Beach Bar each day. Through the all inclusive package we had the option to also eat at their sister resort, MVC Eagle Beach's Tulip Restaurant, but having difficulty walking and becoming lazy from lounging on the beach, we settled into a routine and stuck to the Amsterdam Manor for our lunches.

Our family's dinners we split up among the all inclusive package choices of Mango's Restaurant, Passions on the Beach, Tulip Restaurant as well as one included dinner "off property". We also attended the resort's New Year's Eve party with 5 course sit down dinner, live entertainment, live music and dancing as well as midnight champagne toast accompanied by a fireworks display. Truly unforgettable!

I will submit restaurant reviews separately but can sum up here that the reputation of the resort's restaurants on TripAdvisor is well deserved. Passions on the Beach has been a family favorite in the past and only gets better with time. Whether you are going for the romance or the food and outstanding service, it is an experience for which you won't be sorry. Too numerous to mention in a review, the staff at all of the food and beverage outlets are not to be overlooked. They work hard and are really to be commended for the work that they do.

Don't be put off by the fact that the resort is across the road from the beach. The walk from room to beach palapa was shorter at the Amsterdam Manor than any room in one of the high rise hotels on Palm Beach to their own beach. Do enjoy the beautiful fastidiously clean white sand beach and immaculate well-kept hotel grounds.

Two weeks after we arrived home, since our entire family enjoyed the Amsterdam Manor so much, I made sure we booked our Christmas and New Year holiday for this upcoming holiday season. We have traveled over Christmas for over 8 years and this is by far the best location, resort and experience for a perfect vacation.

Just got back from my stay at Amsterdam Manor. We chose this place after doing a lot of research and we are very happy we made this choice. We read some of the criticisms and found that they are mostly unfounded. There will always be someone who has a bad experience even at the best hotels.

Firstly, the staff is very friendly and welcoming. They were always willing to help with anything we needed and they did it with a smile. We chose a standard studio which is the smallest of the rooms, and it suited us fine. It had a small fridge, microwave, and 2 stove top burners for those that want to eat in. A huge supermarket is a 3 minute walk from the hotel, as well as a Dunkin Donuts 2 minutes away. The room was clean and bright. Bed was very comfortable, A/C worked great. I had read some complaints about not having hot water, we didn't have any issues, our water was always hot, however, water pressure was not great. It had a small patio to sit on which had a partial ocean view (room C6). I would recommend being on an upper floor if you like to eat on the patio with some privacy, the lower level patios have everyone walking by and looking at you, but that's just my opinion.

We didn't use the pool on the facility, but it was clean and well maintained. The beach is right across the street, many hotels had similar set ups. It was not too overcrowded like the beaches at the high rise hotels, however, getting a palapa was difficult because it sees like the beach attendants were already paid off by other guests to save them a spot. (In case anyone from the hotel is seeing this, this is one thing that MUST be addressed! it should be first come first served)

The location was perfect, it's about 15-20 minutes from the airport depending on traffic. We walked to the high rise area and it took about 20-25 minutes. Over there, u can find a mall with shops and plenty of restaurants. Of course there are 2 restaurants on the premises if you want to stay on grounds.

Wifi on grounds is free and it was spotty, but mostly worked well.

Overall, we had a great stay and would recommend this to a friend. We hope to be back soon!

My wife and I have had Aruba on our bucket list for a long time. We booked this hotel and the airfare (Delta from JFK) separately. From the moment we arrived we were treated very well. Our room was not quite ready when we arrived so the front desk watched our bags as we slipped into beach clothes using the lobby washroom. Welcome drink in hand we were pointed in the direction of the beach and the immediate amenities of the hotel.

A short time later we were shown to our room which was booked as a Superior Studio but we ended up getting a Two bedroom Suite upgrade without even asking (Room 201). Very impressed! Our suite was modern, spacious, and had all the comforts of home. Our house keeper was in our room daily and did a great job for us during our stay. We were always on the go while we were there and actually never seen her in our room. I actually made a point to ask who our housekeeper was so I could meet her and give her a nice tip.

Our room had a nice kitchen with all the basics. With the huge food store located so close we opted out of the AI package and looked after our own meals. We found it made perfect sense to cook breakfast in the room and then head to the pool. After, we would come back for a sandwich for lunch, shower up and head out to explore the island. Our dinners were always away from the hotel except our last night. The last night we had reservations at Passions on the beach. This is an experience you owe to yourself. We had an excellent meal here and some great pictures front row centre with the daily sunset.

After being on the island for a few days we came to realize just how nice it was to visit Palm Beach and then be able to leave all that behind and retreat to our quiet and peaceful hotel.

Kind of hard writing this review and letting you all know about this place, I would rather it be here for just my wife and I to enjoy. One thing for sure, If you book this property you will not be disappointed. We met a friend while in Aruba who said to us, First time visitor, "Welcome to Aruba" second time visitor, " Welcome back to Aruba" third time visitor, " Welcome home". We are working on getting back here real soon.

Room Tip: Lower level studios in front of the pool are nice. We had a second storey two bedroom suite room 201...
