This was our first trip to Aruba and we were so glad to be able to be at the Hyatt for it! What's really amazing is that the pictures you see on the website are EXACTLY EXACTLY what you will get. The rooms, the grounds, the lobby, EVERYTHING looks the same as on the website, if not better. Can't beat that!
Yes, the bathroom light is weird. It's a strange design and I really wonder who thought of it. We did notice there was a bulb so you could maybe ask them to take it out for you? Not sure if they'll do it, but worth a shot. It didn't really bother us too much so we didn't bother. And yes the balconies are small. Not just sort of small with some room but TINY. If this is an issue for you, don't stay here. Or pay the extra bucks for a suite. I usually like a full balcony (who doesn't?) but the rooms also have a couch that was sooo comfortable placed right by the sliding doors and it was great to lay on it and just gaze outside. More or less the same effect! Besides, it's Aruba! Are you really going to stay on your balcony all day?! :D
We never had any trouble finding a palapa on the beach, but from what I understand they were not busy AT ALL. The Hyatt gives out complimentary beach floaties so don't bring any from home unless you want to use them in the pool! Brought mine, ugh what a waste of space in my suitcase, lol.
Only tried one restaurant on site, The Palms for lunch. I ordered the quesadilla, he ordered the fried chicken. The portions were tiny. TINY! In the States, a quesadilla will usually come with 4 or 5 pieces. This one had 2. And a small 2. HAHA. It tasted fine but again, portion didn't seem to match the price ($11.50!). He enjoyed his chicken, but it was also small. Eat here if you're not starving.
Overall, our experience at the Hyatt was a very positive one. Almost everyone we talked to was so helpful and amazingly nice, from the front desk, to housekeeping, to the concierge and the beach hut guys. The grounds are beautiful as well as the beach. You can't go wrong with the Hyatt. It is right in the middle of the action in Palm Beach so it's so easy to walk out and do what you choose.
We will definitely be back in Aruba and the Hyatt!
