“Comfortable and spacious”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 3, 2014

We are a party of five. My husband and me, and three children. For such reason, We usually look for suites rather than bedrooms and the Mill offers that option. Not common in other hotels in Aruba. Comfy beds, with full kitchen and well equipped bathrooms. All staff is very kind. Beach is about 2 blocks away from the hotel but there's a shuttle that transports you to and from the hotel. But it's also a nice walk. There's also a nice 10-min. Walk to the main restaurant area.

The hotel is rated 3 stars because it has food and beverage outlets, otherwise the quality/service is more of a 2 star hotel. Rooms are clean, and the 2DB rooms are spacious, the shower head is amazing, however the partition does not cover enough to not make a mess. The grounds are very limited for ADA guests especially when spending a week there. Our first day the air compressor broke and we had to change rooms. We had an renovated room with a nice balcony on the 2nd fl that was tighter and the kitchen was not up to par, so we had to change rooms again. We finally got a room that was renovated and worked. Like others, check the bath towels, you don't get the same consistently. Housekeeping doesn't replace what they take. For those using the kitchen, you need to bring your own paper towels and napkins, they are not provided. Housekeeping also does not do your dishes, nor do they provide soap, so you need to bring your own. There are no serving platters, the max settings are 4. you also only have a 4 piece cooking set. Since they do sell this property as a timeshare as well, you would expect them supply some of these items. Also, if you leave pool towels in your room, housekeeping does not return them to the pool for you. Laundry facilities cost $2 for washing and $2 for drying. there is a limit of 2 machines for the entire property.
Staff is friendly, but most do not really go out of their way to help you or react in a quick manner. The beach is a 5 min walk or a shuttle ride away and this part of the beach has the recreational water sports too close to the shore. Housekeeping also stops servicing rooms at 3pm for daily maid service. Wi-Fi is free at the restaurant if you can get on and stay on. We purchased a 7 day wi-fi card for $35. the signal in the rooms is very limited, however on the patio and pool area it works great. If you need to use multiple devices at the same time, you need to purchase more than 1 card. otherwise, sign in/out of other device and rotate.

Outside of the points outlined above, we had a great time with the folks we met and the pool/beach time we spent. A taxi to the grocery story - Super Foods is $9 each way. there are plenty of taxi's at the store. Prices are pretty similar to home for many items, but we did bring many dry goods to compliment our dishes. Just remember they have to not have meat, poultry, fish or a combination of. we rented a car for a day to drive the island and explore, enjoyed the national park trails that you drive through and can see the caves that make you feel like you are in an Indiana Jones movie :) The island is great for all to gather some happiness while relaxing and rejuvenating.

We stayed for 5 nights at The Mill. If you really want to stay in the High Rise area and do not want to pay a very expensive hotel in that area (such as Riu, Marriott, Radisson) so go ahead otherwise run away from The Mill.

First room we entered there was not sofa bed. We had to go back to the reception desk and the lady first asked me if I wanted a bed inside that room. I answered no because it would not fit and there would not have space for luggage and locomotion. She said there was no room available with sofa bed on that time and I would have to stay on this and then call to Expedia to complain about it.
After some while I requested to talk to the manager. The manager (an old lady) was very rude and said my booking on Expedia was a "super saver" so I would not have the right to chose the room. They were trying to rip me off. On the end the manager assigned us to another room with 2 queen beds. Once we got into the room everyone was so disappointed. The room was very old, things were dirty, rusty. The room was in a location where you could see yellow lines on the wall for construction.
After complaining again we were assigned to renewed room. This one had a sofa bed and a king bed.

We did not have every day someone cleaning the room. I do not remember I had red this in any review on Expedia or Trip Advisor or hotel policy. Even when the room was cleaned the person in charge just set the bed and changed towels.

Inside the bathroom there is a sensor. The sensor turns on the fan and light of the bathroom automatically. In the middle of the first night about 2:30 AM the fan and lights turned on automatically. Because of this we decided to leave the door closed for the whole day and night. I believe other guests do that as well. So because of this the bathroom smells mold.

I really would like to understand why they have Resort on its name. If this really a resort then the others real resorts are paradise so....

In my opinion when you are on vacation (in my case after 1.5 year) you do not deserve this kind of poor customer service.

The positive first: We arrived earlier than check-in and they did allow us to check-in and have a room, which we appreciated greatly.

The negatives: You have to wear a bracelet that they put on your arm at check-in. If this was a high dollar property and all inclusive, maybe I would understand. I do not like to wear a plastic bracelet that you cannot remove unless you cut if off. We do not normally stay at places that you have to wear bracelets. So this being said, I did not like that but to some people it's not a problem.

The bed.......if you like a rock hard bed, then this is the place for you. We do not. There were probably a lot better rooms than what we were given, since we were only there for one night.
It was a platform bed with only a mattress (hard) and there was a big space between the bed and the wall, which the pillows were always falling in that space. It was a miserable night before our travel day.

The shower was very small and not hardly any space between the toliet and the shower.

We did not have bath soap nor wash cloths and had to call the front desk. Housekeeping was quick to bring them to our room.

We only had one hand towel. Several bath towels but not the greatest.

We were on the ground floor and we had a pretty court yard but it was too much trouble to open the sliding door to the patio, so we didn't.

There used to be lights on the wall and now they are on the table next to the bed. They have solid plastic pieces on the wall where the lights used to be.

We tried to make coffee the next morning (only one pack of coffee) and the coffee maker would not work. Once again, contacted the front desk and housekeeping came with another one pretty prompt.

I did not really feel safe at night there going to our room from the parking lot. The walk ways were not lit well and when you entered the location of your room a sensor turned the light on at your door area. To me it was just kind of spooky.

Leaving, there was this red liquid stuff all over the walk ways. Very nasty. Someone had to pour this on purpose because it was everywhere and the trail went down and around the walk ways. It was hard to move your luggage around this mess.

So, we did not have a good experience and I would not recommend this place. There are too many other choices and I hate that I made this choice for our last night in Aruba. I would spend a little more money and stay at a nicer and cleaner place and hopefully a much better bed.

Room Tip: The building that we were in, was only two floors high. The rooms are in groups of three when you e...

First of all, the attention, spacious rooms, comfortable beds and impecable pool areas.

Is a small comfortable place without any need of extreme luxury to make you feel welcome.

Very close to a lot of white sand beaches and the most touristic area of the island (with pretty good places to eat and drink).

The amount of nearby beaches, one besides the next one, makes it ideal to walk or jog for a while and then to relax in any beach you feel like to stay, no need to use a car for that at all.

There's also the Butterfly Farm very near from the hotel, we went because my girlfriend wanted to see it, but, I have to admit that, surprisingly, it was a very interesting place to visit.

The Restaurant is pretty good, unless we only went to have breakfast a couple of times, the rest we cooked at the room, the rooms are equipped with kitchen, fridge, microwave and all the basic cooking tools necesary

The price was pretty much affordable, comparing to nearby places and knowing that Aruba, in an overall manner, is a bit expensive.

Very recommended for families looking for a warm, quiet place without spending too much

If location on the beach isn't a must, this is a great stay. Just 5 minutes walk to the very nice Palm Beach with hotels, restaurants and bars along the entire beach. This is a smaller resort, that has actually everything you need. Pool (if you like that), bar, restaurant, spa and tennis.

It's familyfriendly (we didn't travel with kids...), very clean and for the most, very helpfull staff.
Our room was quite big, with both shower and bathtub. The toilet and shower was separate from the tub and the mirror and sink, so that made the morning and evening routines very efficient. A nice little space outside the room, with chairs and table.

The restaurant wasn't exceptional in any way, but you can get some decent meals there, if you're not in the mood to explore outside the walls of the resort every day :)

All in all, we had a great stay at the Mill, and on Aruba in general of course. Lovely island!

Wouldn't normally stay at this type of property but went on a last minute and it was way cheaper than where we normally stay. We didn't opt for the all inclusive but had a really good meal at the property for dinner. I had chicken cordon blue and partner had steak which he said was cooked just the way he ordered and was fabulous. It was unexpected. We don't stay around the hotel through day but pool looked nice and wasn't too busy. It is off season here now. Ask for renovated room cause not all are. We had a small kitchenette that had everything you need if you like to cook for yourself. Happy hour from 5-7 and is included at restaurant. I prefer the big hotels but it was manageable

Room Tip: Ask for renovated room
