“Another Splendid Trip - Dont worry about the Renovations”

The hotel was terrific. I was concerned about the renovations, but you maybe heard some noise in the distance while you were at the beach, but they just started the North Tower rooms. Everyone stays in the new rooms, which are delightful. Great AC, nice rooms. Suprised with Plasma TVs they dont have HD though. The lobby is very nice. We ate at Ruth's Chris and their service is a 10! Everyone is very friendly and very very helpful. Well, everyone but Elizabeth at the towel/palapa hut. It amazes me how you can only reserve three days worth, but the same family was able to get the front row hut for 6 days straight? Hmmm. I am smelling a conspiracy or some heavy tipping. We tried...didn't work well. There is no problem getting a palapa at all, but if you want the front row (2nd was fine with me!) you have to do some majory (probably $50 or more) tipping....and Elizabeth is brutal to reserve with. Wait until her day off!!!! The rooms and beds were comfy! I will continue to return over and over.

I read another reviewer. There did seem to be a few more families with kids. Kind of annoying children that did seem to dominate the pool. Well behaved, but I think they need to have an "adult" swim hour after 3 or 4 pm or something. Some people were nuts reserving chairs at the pool at 6:30 in the morning. There were plenty to choose from.

The beach is wonderful, the water warm, the pool is nice, great service on the beach. I have no idea why people complain. The marriott is the best hotel on the island. It is not a 5 star resort, I would say a 4 star, but come on folks....on "One Happy Island", there is no such thing as a 5 star resort. The Marriott is better than the Westing (former Wyndam), Radison, the god awful RIU which just opened, the Hyatt, and certainly the Holiday Inn. The Marriott Timeshares (Surf Club) is where all the kids are. Stay far away from those if you dont want kids.

There were a lot of middle aged couples. Trust me, if you are 10-20 pounds overweight, you will probably feel svelte there. This is not a hotel with pretentious buff or anorexic 21 year olds. It is an adult resort with nice people...mostly from NY, NJ or Boston. Being from Chicago, I felt like the only midwesterner.

The crowd seemed very couple oriented. I saw 1 or 2 gay couples, which was nice to see. Otherwise, married (for 15-20 years!) couples enjoying the beach.

Stay there...but it is pricey! Also, take a chance on room service. if it is not delivered in 45 minutes, it is free. Ours took 55 minutes (which I didnt care)....but it was free!!!!!

Just a great hotel! There should be no complaints. Yes, somethings are pricey but it is a resort, it comes with the territory, There is minor construction going on but it doesn't really affect anything. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The Marriott portion of Palm Beach is the nicest/cleanest spot. I would highly suggest someone staying here for a relaxing vacation.

“Loved the Marriott”

My Husband and I have been staying at the Marriott since they opened in 1995.  We have also stayed at the Surf Club a few times as well.  We have always enjoyed our stays at the Marriott.    This year we took our 16 yr. old daughter with us for the first time and we stayed in the newly renovated south tower.  The room was very spacious with a great bathroom area.  Double sinks with a nice walkin closet and a safe.  We really appreciated the large bathroom especially since we had our daughter with us.    Our room was 401 which was very close to the elevators but we were not bothered by any noise from that.  We did not have a very good view and it seemed as though we were right near some outdoor mechanical area because if we were on our balcony it was quite noisy but other than that we did not have any complaints.  The beds were nice comfy and the maid service was very good.   We always had plenty of everything that we needed.     The Waves beach bar has a very delicious fish sandwich that we look forward to each year.  And it is nice to see so many of the same workers year after year.  The pool area is very nice with very nice chairs with thick cushions.  The work out room is also very nice with plenty of cardio machines and lots of weight machines and free weights as well.  The lobby is in the process of a renovation but it was still very nice.  We didn't try the Ruth's Chris Steak House only because we hate to go to restaurants that we have in the States.  But we heard people say that it was good.   We really love Aruba and the Marriott and look forward to our 15th trip there next year.

What a great place!

About a $20 cab from the airport but room overlooked the beautiful blue water.
Check in was a breeze. Staff seemed almost too friendly. Housekeeping came by every 2-3 hours to see if we needed more towels and would call to double check if we did not accept. Room was clean and huge king size bed. Flat screen TV with all the channels you would need. Pool was clean with not too many kids. Beach was very relaxing and not hard to find a shady spot.
Casino was small but open 24 hours.
Food/ Beverages were a little expensive at the pool and beach bars so I just walked to a market a few miles away and got a bottle of wine/case of beer. Great sunset view from this hotel!
Lots of Americans, seemed to be lots from up north (yankees) where they talk louder around each other.

“Great Stay at the Marriott”

Marriott Aruba Resort & Stellaris Casino

Apr 16, 2008

Just got back from a 5 night trip at the Marriott Stellaris. Wanted put a couple things out there before I forgot. Overall the hotel was very nice. I guess the lobby has been renovated and you could tell it looked brand new. Check in was a breeze and we were actually upgraded for free. They are still working on the lobby bar but you don't really notice anything. We had a partial ocean view room that was newly renovated as well. The new furnishings are nice, especially the +40" flat screen tv, but you could kind of tell they whipped through the process as the grout work was shabby and some of the furnishings were loose. Very small inconveniences but just things I noticed. Overall the rooms are very impressive though. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the bathrooms are huge.

The grounds were equally impressive with a nice pool area (swim up bar!) and plenty of chairs with umbrellas for those that wanted them. The beach area was well kept and there were enough palapas for everyone. I guess you can reserve them ahead of time for $15 or just go in the morning and save one. I just went in the morning and managed to get a palapa in the first or second row each time. But if you want to sleep in until 10AM I would suggest paying the cash to have a nice one up front.

I never had breakfast at the hotel. The lobby shop had coffee, juice, muffins, etc. but they were incredibly overpriced and not that appetizing. I would suggest walking a short distance to another restaurant for breakfast. Lunch was reasonable compared to other places but again nothing to fancy. We'd usually take lunch time to go walk around and sample other places.

We had dinner one night at Simply Fish and it was an incredible experience. We had a table about 10 feet from the water's edge and watched the sunset. The service was fantastic as our waiter made thoughtful suggestions and gave us local news on the island after we asked him what was happening. The food was delicious and portions were big enough that my wife had to box up her meal. Dessert was just ok but to be honest it was worth it just to kill some more time under the stars. This was probably our most expensive meal on the island but it was worth it for the experience. Highly recommended.

Overall, we had a great time at the Marriott and would happily return. We walked through other hotels as a comparison and the only other one in the High Rise section that looked comparable was the Hyatt (actually was nicer but was all booked up).
