“Superb!Excellent!Fantastic!Primo!Fabulous!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

We stayed @ the Radisson Resort for our anniversary. The weather was beautiful, some overcast clouds, temp of 90 degress with a constant breeze. Water temp we were told was 82 degrees. Was a refreshing cool which quickly warmed up in spots. It was our first stay @ the Radisson, our second trip to Aruba and hopefully not our last! To begin, the moment we walked into the lobby there is this refreshing constant breeze that invites you to paradise!! All the bellhops came to welcome and direct us to registration, where a nearby table of refreshing unsweetened tea is available for guests. The check-in process was smooth and efficient. Any issues where directed to the hotel manager on duty and resolved then & there. We checked in and were in our room with in 20 minutes. After settling in from our flight we went right to the beach, on our way down we stopped to inquire about a palapa & the resorts policy. Luckily we were able to reserve a complimentary palapa (since it was after the 4 o'clock sign up) for the next day. As we were only there for a short stay & we decided to pay for the rest of our stay rather than spend time in the line up. (The reservations begin @ 4pm, guests choose to start a line @ 3pm - and the line is long) who wants to spend vacation time in a line? Anywhooo- Had breakfast & lunch @ Gilligans, was very good and entertaining as the lizards and iguanas were passing thru under the tables-hehe. Double check your bills as there were double charges for items we didn't order 2 of. There is ALWAYS a 15% service fee added to each bill on the island for dining. The bill states the service fee is not gratuity and leaves a space for you to included an additional gratuity to that total. Make your own discretion whether to throw in a few more bucks. We went to Happy hour (from 4-6pm drinks are 2 for the price of 1, both drinks must be the same) There were 3 weddings during our stay. Dinner is available on the beach via torchlight @ your request via concierge, $65 per person for a surf & turf dinner. Very romantic & reasonably priced compared to the other resorts offering the same. We did encounter an unpleasant time one day, all day while a group of cruisers decided it was alright for them to take the resort chairs and towels and sit at the base of our palapa (remember we paid $40 per day). They were loud and inconsiderate to the resort guests. Luckily the chair boys came over & spoke to them and removed the chairs and towels from them. They still remained loud and sat right in front of our lounge chairs as if we were together. This is our only complaint. On our anniversary we arrived to our room to find a bottle of champagne on ice with a lovely note! Was a thoughtful, lovely gesture! The tropical birds are a joy to see walking along the path. The pools are delightful! Louis @ the concierge is so helpful & will do her best to get a reservation for dining during your stay!Frank the manager is professional & attentive. The entire staff is friendly, happy & very accommodating. We met many nice guests that have been coming to Aruba for 20+ years. As we are young Im sure we will also rack us many visits to this wonderful island in our lifetime!

Room Tip: No need to rent a car, taxi's readily available & the local bus is $2 USD. USD are excepted...

Overall we had a fantastic stay at this lovely hotel. The hotel is located right on the beach. So after a small walk from our room Across the campus of the hotel we came to the Radisson's private beach. You could easily reserve a beach palapa To shield you from the sun. There are many reasonably priced and reasonable food restaurants and cafés near this hotel. Finally, don't miss the happy hour drink specials daily!

Dear Guest,

Thank you for the great review. The beach is in fact public, however my team does such a good job looking after our wonderful asset, that it does of course feel private.

We hope to see you again soon.

My husband and I spent three nights at the Radisson in March 2013 as a last hurrah before the arrival of our first baby. We had never been to Aruba before, but if we return, we certainly will stay here.

The property is managed beautifully, from the welcome desk to the concierge, cleaning crew, etc., and the grounds are absolutely lovely. The beach is pristine and definitely the best of the high-rise hotel options (we did the full walk all the way to the Marriott and the Radisson beachfront is far less crowded than any of the other options). Easy to get a good palapa, nice low-key restaurant on site for lunch and happy hour with live music, across the street from retail/restaurant options, etc. There was nothing we would change!

(One sidenote: We did a couples massage which was perfectly fine but incredibly over-priced. My husband went across the street the next day to a spot in the retail area and had just as good a massage for about half the price.)

We stayed here from April 15th-23rd and are very pleased with our stay. We had a total of people in my room 2 adults and 2 children which was in the C building on the second floor overlooking the gardens, room 3213. My parents stayed with my 2 nieces in room 3510 which overlooked the Riu parking lot, but was still a very nice room. We rented a front row palapa for the week at 35 dollars a day, which is worth not having to wait in line everyday. The room was comfortable, clean, and well appointed with furnishings, lots of tv channels, comfortable mattresses, spacious balcony, a mini fridge, and plenty of storage space. We also had free wifi, even at the pool.

The first day we went to breakfast at Gilligans, but after discovering that a 60 dollar breakfast could be cut in half by visiting 5 burgers across the street we stopped eating there and at breakfast at 5 burgers every day after. Lunch was hit or miss and usually we would just order appetizers on the beach from Gilligans. We never ate at any of the restaurants on the property other than Gilligans, so I can not speak on them. We did eat at Gianni's, El Goucho, Blossoms, Senor Frogs, and Sole mare which were all wonderful in their own way.

Overall we were pleased with every aspect of this trip and look forward to returning to Aruba. We have stayed at the Marriott, Westin, Surf Club, and Radisson. The Radisson is the best beach of all of the high rise hotels. We walked the beach a few times and the water seemed to have lots of seaweed from the Playa Linda to the Marriott. We never had any seaweed and the water was clean. The only problems are with the slobs who don't clean up their trash and let plastic cups blow into the ocean. Every day we would walk around and pull cups from the bottom of the ocean which we would step on. One day we pulled 32 cups, a plastic bag, and a torn piece of clothing with made in the USA printed on the tag. Amazing that I had to travel to Aruba to find a made in USA tag, lol.

The staff at the Radisson are second to none, and we never had a bad experience with any of the staff. The pool was clean and winded through the resort. The hotel is directly across from Senor frogs and many other restaurants, so no need to take a taxi. To make a trip more affordable we had the taxi driver stop at the market on the way in from the airport and spent 20 minutes buying beer, chips, bread, soda, nuts, and a few other incidentals. Cost was 55 dollars for the taxi which included the 20 minute stop at the market.

The casino at the Radisson is by far the worst on the island. We play craps, slots, and blackjack and the payouts on the slots are awful, along with the bounce on the craps tables. The also have the table minimums at 10 dollars when you can walk next door to the Westin, Riu, or the occidental and play with 5 dollar minimum tables. We won money every night we played, but not a thing on the Radisson slots. I feel that the Marriott casino had the best odds on the slots.

I am already planning next years vacation and will definitely stay at the Radisson.

Room Tip: Unless you plan on spending lots of time on the balcony, just book the cheapest room available and g...

Dear Guest,

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We certainly do appreciate your comments, and I will make sure that they are passed along to our management team. I do however need to make some corrections with regards your casino comments.

We have $5 Poker tables (Caribbean Stud / Three Card Poker / Let It Ride) On our Black Jack Tables the Minimum bet is $10. The Riu is $15 and Westin has one table of $5 when it is slow, unfortunately we will not reduce the limit on this as it is not in our best interest and we have players that play this limit quite happily.

With relation to Craps, we have not heard of this before but will investigate.

We thank you for taking the time to write, and we do hope to see you again in the future.

We arrived to Radisson on April 19th and quite honestly are less than impressed. Front desk never told us that we should be reserving beach umbrellas and although the beach was beautiful you had to stand in an hour line to get one for free or pay $40 to get one up front by the water without waiting. Ridiculous! Today, 50 min later, all umbrellas have been taken so if you think you have your day to do whatever you please- better spend the money and get one reserved early or all of them will be gone!

Restaurant was good. Food was delicious. Many other restaurant options nearby. Hotel room is dated. Bathroom has cracks and you'll be fighting for one sink. Also rooms were designed to be adjacent and are separated by one door so be ready to hear your neighbors. Ours stayed up until 2-3 am keeping us awake. You can also hear everyone in the hallway including cleaning staff. I'm a very sound sleeper but I was awaken several times. Over all it was not worth the money for a peaceful gateway. We'll be staying somewhere else next time!

Dear Guest,

That is a real shame to hear, I am so sorry. I never like to have guests leave feeling this way, and I certainly want to make this right for you. Our Palapa reservation system isnt for everyone, but it is overwhelmingly the best system on the beach. No-one likes getting up at sunrise to sprint down to the beach to get a Palapa. I do acknowledge however that it wasn't for you.

We do have a solution for our connecting rooms, and will be installing the new muffler system later this year, which will completely resolve any outstanding noise niggles.

Please do email me directly on mark.lyttleton-frances@radisson.com, and allow me the opportunity to make this right for you.

I stayed at the Radisson for ten nights and it was one of the best resorts that I have stayed at. It was very clean and workers were very friendly and very helpful. The beach was very large with lots of Palapas to rent. I had rented a front row Palapa for nine days and the only problem I had was one day a party of five Canadiens had set up their lounge chairs right in front of me when there was plenty of room to set up in another area. They blocked my view and were to close for comfort. I thought that was very rude but considering they were Canadiens it didn't surprise me one bit. They had no class what so ever. I know the beaches are public but you don't set up camp that close. All in all I would rate the resort first class and would return again.
