After looking at tripadvisor we decided to go to the Bucuti. Thanks tripadvisor. We stayed in the newly renovated Tara Suites. Amazing!!! We had so much fun. It was perfect for our honeymoon. Very quiet and relaxing. We had an oceanfront room. It was always clean and the view was amazing.
The pool was nice but why use the pool when you have the amazing ocean right in front of you. The beach was clean and quiet as well.
We had the honeymoon package which included a dinner on the beach. Unfortunately, the nights for that meal were all booked up during our stay so Alfonze, the conceirge, made arrangements for us to have it in a private area of the restaurant. It was actually better because it was not as windy. The food was tasty but we only ate there that one night.
Our favorite place was right across the street called Pizza Bob's. The best food ever. We ate there everyday for lunch. Another must is the restaurant called the flying fishbone. The meal was about $150 with drinks and dessert but it was well worth it. You must get there early to get a table in the water. We enjoyed that so much. Beware of the crabs though if you sit near the rocks. But the food was fresh and being able to eat with your feet in the water was a perfect dinner.
Everybody was so nice and helpful. Be warned though, we went to the grocery store, big difference from the U.S., it was fairly expensive.
We decided not to rent car. The taxis got us around just fine. We were going to take the bus but it was hard for us to figure out the schedule. But if you are at a place and need a taxi, just ask and they will call one for you. They did this at the Flying Fishbone and the grocery store. Also, the driving in Aruba is very different from where we are from, so we are glad that we didn't rent a car.
Overall, it was the perfect experience. We will definately go back in the near future. We are scared to visit any other hotel because the Bucuti set the standard so high, we don't think we would be satisfied any place else.

We were looking for something a little more quiet rather than the high-rise hotels, and we booked it based on the reviews we read on Trip Advisor -- it was a great decision. We were greeted with champagne and they took great care in explaining all we needed to know about the resort.

It's very small, so it's easy to get around -- my husband walked the beach every day and said our beach was the nicest by far in terms of privacy and space. You're not on top of other guests and they even have a web cam by the pool!

Speaking of the pool, it was a bit of a disappointment (although it's not a secret - you can see how small it is on the website). The chairs are super comfy, but there is no shade whatsoever and you will absolutely need it. We wore SPF 70 all week and and still ended up with beautiful tans.

Everyone is very friendly and helpful. In fact, everywhere we went the people were extremely friendly and the service was superior.

The concierge was a big help -- Yvonne. She made all of our dinner reservations (SUPER restaurants if you're a foodie!) and she recommended the ABC Tour jeep tour -- Wendell and Rocky were our guides and they were great. Wendell was the entertainment, and Rocky was a wealth of information. Both made it a fun half-day excursion.

We went right to the grocery store the first day we were there. We'd recommend Ling & Sons for snacks (you'll have a fridge) and get the Balashi beer -- it's a nice light beer and locally made.

We found the shopping to be a bit lame, but we didn't have much time for it anyway. It's a cruise ship port, so they have the usual shops.

Every restaurant we went to was superior. They definitely focus on the food in Aruba (Brisas del Mar, Cuba's Cookin', Papiamento, Screaming Eagle, and Pago Pago -- see reviews).

Highly recommend this location if you want peace and quiet. Rent a car -- it's much easier to get around the island. We drove all week and barely used a 1/2 tank of gas.

After spending a week at Bucuti last March, we wouldn't consider any other place in Aruba!
Our modern "Superior" rooms on the southwest side of the property were spotless and spacious. I thought I might be disappointed that we didn't have ocean view rooms, but from our balcony we could see the beach, and sitting there with a rum drink at night and watching ships at sea was awesome.
The property is in the quieter low-rise area, on the best beach (Eagle), and not far from downtown Orangestad. It's small enough to be peaceful, intimate, where you're a name, not a room number!
The beach was huge and never crowded, with soft white sand and champagne-like water, never rough waves. Don't forget sunscreen, as the ever-present trade winds mask the strength of the sun! Beach towels readily available -- they keep count, you just turn in wet ones for clean ones. We watched a couple of beach weddings -lovely! There is a pool, but with that beach....!
The on-site restaurant, Pirate's Nest, didn't equal the quality of the rest of the hotel, but breakfast outside on the beach deck was an awesome way to start the day. (we thought the Iguanas asking for pieces of fruit were fun and harmless!) We like to try a different place to eat every night anyway!
The staff was incredibly friendly, helpful, and fun!
Very near the hotel is a casino, and area of little shops.
Highly recommend this top notch hotel for anyone wanting to get away for peace and quiet, a romantic vacation, and a perfect beach!
We hope to be one of the many repeat guests!

This review is long overdue but I figured better late than never. I used this site to discover the bucuti so I wanted to share my personal expirience. My wife and I honeymooned at the bucuti sep.2-9 and it couldn't have been better. We chose to stay in the tara suite building due to the photos of the rooms and they didn't dissapoint. The view from the third floor was spectacular. I am not a beach person usually but the bucuti makes it so enjoyable that it is immpossible not to love it. We rented a car which allowed us to get beer and alchol (other things too) from the supermarket. I recommend packing a colapsable cooler in your bag so you can take some ice cold beverages to your always plentiful palapa. Whenever you need a frozen drink or a some lunch you just put up your flag and walahh>>> a waiter will bring you whatever you like. We don't have one bad thing to say about the hotel expirience at all.
We did the sunset sail and the snorkel trip. I forget how much the snorkel trip was but it was worth it. Both trips were awesome!!! and they aren't kidding when they say open bar. Tip the bartender early and your cup will be full the whole time. Probably the that surprised us the most was the restaurants. We didn't have a bad meal the entire week. I will list the places we went.
romantic dinner at the pirates nest- This is a one of a kind expirience that shouldn't be missed. The food was great but the sunset is unbelievable.
Texas de Brazil- we ate here twice because it was great. it is brazilian barbeque done very clasy (and expensive>>>but worth it) If I remember correctly it was about 45- per person for an all you can eat fresh meat barbeque.

The Flying Fishbone- this place is right on the water in a remote part of the island. The water is literally at your feet while your eating if you reserve a waterfront table. They have a website, check it out. I remember the food being good but the atmosphere takes the cake.

Madamm Jeanettes- Very romantic and the food was really good.

Giannis- this is right in the high rise area and they serve italian food. I give it high marks
Check out the brunch at the Hyatt if you can because it is excelent and a nice change from the continental breakfast served on the property.
All and all we can't wait to go back to the bucuti again and again.

My husband and I stayed at the Bucuti from March 30 - April 6. Having stayed in the high rise area for the last 4 years, and not having stayed on Eagle beach since our honeymoon in 1988, we wanted to give Eagle beach another try. Our 20th wedding anniversary is coming up in May, and we thought celebrating it at Bucuti would give us the peaceful and romantic vacation we were looking for. The reviews here on Trip Advisor had a large part in our choice of the Bucuti.

We arrived at 4:30 and checked in without a problem and were offered a cold drink while going through the paper work. Upon arriving into our room, there was a bag with a Happy Anniverary balloon (when booking we indicated we were celebrating our anniversary), and the bag had a bottle of champagne, chocolates, Gouda cheese and crackers in it - a VERY nice touch! We had room 245, a superior room, which we knew was going to be a garden view. The view of the ocean was obstructed a bit, but we could see it if we looked out of our balcony to the right. The manager left a voice mail message in the room welcoming us and thanking us for choosing the Bucuti - another nice touch!

The room was beautifully done in dark woods and warm colors, and was very clean and accomodating. A shelf or two was kept available for our personal items in the small fridge. We found the balcony to be bigger than most of the balconies we have had in other hotels.

The beach is absolutely gorgeous. Having stayed at the high rise section the last 4 years, this was quite a change. It is spacious and the palapas are quite far apart from each other, a welcome change from the more crowded palapas on Palm Beach. The area is quiet, but there are restaurants within walking distance.

It is certainly not necessary to rent a car, but we knew we'd be heading up to the high rise area at night, so we rented one for the week. We also like to buy snacks and alcohol, so having the car to go the market was great.

Now, back to the beach...it really is beautiful. The water was crystal clear, and although they had been experiencing some roughness over the past 2 weeks, it was only very rough a few days. I was up and out of the room by 8:00/8:30 in the morning and never had a problem securing a palapa even in the 2nd row. Even if we had not headed down to the beach early, the beach was never fully crowded so that you could not find a palapa. The beach was quiet and peaceful.....heaven!!!

The manager checked in with us twice while eating the continental breakfast outside at the Pirate's Nest and asked us how we were doing. So nice to see this kind of attention in a small resort. The wait staff was very friendly, as was everyone else that worked there. We are friendly people by nature, and the employees really do appreciate it when you ask them "how are you doing?". As we like to think and in most cases, you give what you get. A smile and friendly hello goes a long way!

Breakfast was good and fine for us - nothing too fancy, but everything you would expect in a continental breakfast. You can also order eggs, omelets, etc., for an additional fee. The servers will ask you to sign a slip showing $9 per person for breakfast. They do NOT charge you, they do this as a way of monitoring their costs - they tell you this upfront the first day you eat breakfast. We only had lunch once at the Pirate's Nest, it was very good!

We found out that the Bucuti will be raising their prices next year, they haven't done this in a few years. However, the new price will include a full breakfast and not just a Continental breakfast.

I can't say enough about our time at the Bucuti. It was everything we hoped for and more! There were couples of all ages; a very nice mix of people. We'd love to be able to go back next year, but will have to see how it works out with the new rates. Also, if you have AAA you will get a discount, but you have to show your card and tell them up front when booking.

All in all, I would suggest this resort to anyone looking for a peaceful and relaxing vacation on a gorgeous beach - you won't be sorry! If you're looking for a non-stop party type of vacation, this isn't the place for you. We went to the high rise section at night for gambling and walking around, and it worked perfectly for us!
