“Great Place for a Getaway”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

Paradise Beach Villas delivered what it was supposed to. It was clean, had all the necessary room essentials, pools are really nice. The rooms are a bit outdated, but we were not there for the room, but the great ocean, 100 yards from the property. A few tips: If you are going to use the pools, GET UP EARLY and claim a Palappa(umbrella) and chairs by placing towels, etc. Same for the beach. If you do not do this, you will have absolutely no shade and it gets pretty hot. The chairs and Palappas are gone by 7 AM. The sunset view from the beach or balcony is something to see, and you can great some pretty pictures. Temperature is a constant 80 degrees, and the ocean was a bit chilly. Be prepared for the wind. This is the windiest island I have been on.

Room Tip: If you use the pool, get a ground floor so you can run out in the AM and claim a Palappa and chairs...

Great location halfway between Oranjestad and Palm Beach. Mostly ate in Oranjestad and shopped/gambled in Palm Beach. Renovated rooms are well appointed. Half our party of eight got renovated rooms (overlooking the parking lot) and half didn't (overlooking the pool). Full kitchen with all the pots, pans, plates, glasses, and utensils you need. Cooked out on the fully accessorized grills one night. Two pools and two hot tubs but they close at 9pm. Short walk across the street to the beach. Towels and lounge chairs provided. Franklin, the bar tender, will keep you in stitches. The downside is they continue to renovate rooms. The jack hammers started at 9am every weekday morning. If you are a night owl, like us, this was very annoying.

Room Tip: They are renovating so make sure you ask how close you will be to this.

I was worried about the rooms reading the reviews. Not to worry as far as I could see the remodels were complete. Our suite number 228 was great. Balcony looking out to the ocean, just had the traffic of the main road to deal with which was not bad at all. It seemed pedestrians were given the right of way so traffic was pretty slow. We had great room service every day.

The Tikki Bar was great Franklin and Rueben were great. The pools were awesome and we really had no problem getting chairs aroung the pool.

Check in and out went great. Thanks to all of the staff who I believe were great.

The room was great I loved the fully appliance kitchen and multiple fans. The room was also equipped with an additional humidifier which brought great pleasure.

Staff was pleasant and didn't bother us with anything.

Down sides: Hotel being renovated inside. Missing lighting fixtures, paint and rom numbers on doors. It was very unattractive. One of the pools was being refinished. I am not sure how it is done in the US but the people fixing the pool were torching the liner and it was a terrible smell that went on and off for the entire duration of our stay.

The beach had a limited number of chairs and they were all taken when we wanted to hang out.

Room Tip: If you want a chair on the beach go to a different resort.

Paradise Beach Villa is looking a little tired these days, good news is they are slowly renovating the rooms and after renovation they are quite nice. Not sure I would stay here again though, this was our 2nd time and not as great an experience. Construction was going on on one pool which is understandable it has to be done but we were not informed when we booked that one pool was out of commission. Also the method of construction made it impossible to go out on our balcony because of the smell. Additionally the room we had had an air conditioning system on the roof and was very loud.

Room Tip: Don't stay on the 4th floor.

The ratings that are bad say that its because there is mold, or its wet or, that the jacuzzi tub is annoying. I went to the members meeting and they said that they are in the process of removing all the jacuzzis. also there problem of moisture and mold is that it gets humid with the a/c so they install dehumidifiers in the rooms. This is good since there is no water collecting on the walls and since the a/c can run without the moisture problem it is to cold for mold to grow in a non wet environment. I do believe that there was a review that said the beds were not comfy too; so I will tell you that i believe that most if not all rooms got a bed update. So it seems that Paradise Beach Villas has listened to the complaints and worked to improve the hotel.

We very much enjoyed our stay at PBV. The staff was friendly, the grounds, pool and beach area were well maintained. The unit was a bit dated in decor, but clean and equipped for preparing breakfast and lunches. We dined out for dinner at various restaurants every night. If you are used to a soft bed, be prepared for a very firm mattress. The poolside cafe was good, reasonable, and convenient. We didn't dine at Carabas which is on site.

It is always windy in Aruba, so sometimes the beach is not so comfortable with sand whipping around. The beaches and water are beautiful though and took many nice swims in the ocean. The beach at PBV is very quiet and we usually were able to get a palapa. Baby Beach is worth the drive, bus ride, or tour stop. It is a gorgeous beach!

We spent quite a bit on taxis before we realized that the bus service is so convenient and much cheaper. Because PBV isn't around a lot of restaurants, we often went to the high rise area or into town for dinner.

Took a jeep tour to the wild side of the island. Stopped at the California Lighthouse, bat caves, natural bridge, gold mine ruins, and baby beach. It is amazing how different the other side is!

The weather was hot and dry, except for 2 one minute downpours one day. If clouds roll in, they are blown away by the wind very quickly.

Room Tip: We were on the second floor 2 bedroom which had a view of the pool and beach. I think the studios d...
