Casa Vieja serves the best Colombian food in Aruba. The place, as the name states, is located in an old house not far from the Queen Beatrix Airport. It is operated by a woman and her family who came from Colombia to Aruba some years ago, so the food is authentic. In particular, the Bandeja Paisa platter is an excellent way to sample everything: steak, sausage, fried egg, salad, beans, rice, avocado, and more, all on one plate, which is probably enough to serve 2 people. The fish filet is usually grouper and done with just a touch of lemon and salt. Finally, you might enjoy the chuleta Colombiana, a battered and fried pork chop done to perfection. I've been to this restaurant twice so far in August of 2011 and it is consistently good. Spanish skills are helpful because the staff speaks only Spanish, but the menu is in Spanish and English. If you're in Aruba and looking for a real taste of South America, try Casa Vieja. Prices range between $8US and $20 for most everything on the menu.
