“Another Great Time at Divi Golf”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed February 13, 2013

Just returned from another 2 weeks at Divi Golf and Beach. This was our 4th year at our time share and its great to return and see friends you havent seen in a year and that includes much of the staff. Checkin was a breeze and our studio in the links great as usual with everything working fine. We spend alot of the time at the infinity pool and Marilyn and great behind the bar as well as the other bar tenders. Virginia does a great job as activities director at the pool as well. Tuesday afternoons feature hamburgers on the bbq (not free but good) and Giovanni Trim entertaining (also on Thursday Nites at Mulligans. We enjoy Mulligans for dinner and occasionaly breakfast. The beach is beautiful and if you do not have a car there is plenty of shuttle service and it is about a 5 minute walk and well worth it. I was glad to see they put in more palapas and getting lounges was no problem and it was peak season. Windows on Aruba is the premier restaurant at the facility and has a great Sunday brunch. There are 2 other pools as well, Staff is great. Only negatives is the Sea Breeze Restaurant buffet is around $17.50 per person and there is no more al a carte and I do not feel it is worth the price. Also I feel that $50.00 a week for in room wi fi (per device) is high and frankly should be free as I do need to keep up with business when I am on vacation. Also you need get to the infinity pool area around 8 or 9am to reserve palapa (shade) at the infinity pool . Lounge chairs are not a problem to obtain Cant wait to our return next year.

Room Tip: If you want quiet,,,as for a room in the Links away from the pool area but all and all I have had li...

Our exchange was through SFX. We arrived early at Divi Village Beach and Golf Resort. We were able to pre- check in early. While we were waiting in line, we were provided with punch, both with and without alcohol. We did our shopping at Ling’s and came back to get our check in materials. One of the bell hops asked if we were pre-checked in, got our package, and drove us over to our condo. We had received an upgrade to one of the three buildings designated as “Condos.” We were in C24. Our 1 BR unit was gorgeous. We had a spacious bedroom with a king bed and bathroom with shower only. There was a second bathroom with shower next to the living room. Furniture there was quite comfortable. Large screen TVs were in the living room and bedroom. Daily trash pickup and towel exchange. Linens were changed mid week.
The kitchen was modern with black granite with gold specs in it. Stainless appliances. Ice water and cubes or crushed ice were available through the refrigerator door. Refrigerator was more than spacious enough for us. A utility room was off the kitchen with a stacked washer and dryer. We did not cook any dinners here, but the kitchen appeared to be well stocked.
Our deck had a small table with 2 chairs and a lounge. We overlooked the waterway that surrounds the 9 hole golf course. We saw a nice variety of birds in and around the water and there were a number of iguanas and lizards on the grounds.
We used 2 pools on the property. One had a great slide that really whooshed you into the pool. The infinity pool with swim up bar was lovely. Beach towels could be exchanged at will. The grounds were impeccably kept.
The beach was a 5 minute walk from our unit, which was at the back of the resort. I think it’s the nicest beach in Aruba. Very wide beach, clean white sand, and a shallow drop off to the water. The palapas were at the back of the beach but there were more than enough for the people on the beach. The beach was never crowded, unlike the high rise beaches.
There is a fitness center and climbing wall on the property. Treadmills overlooked the beach. There are several Divi resorts clustered together and it was easy to walk from one to another. There are a number of restuarants on Divi properties, but the only one we ate at was Mulligans at our resort. It was reasonably priced and we enjoyed our meal there. Frequent shuttles were available to take you around the property and to the Alhambra casino.
I would stay here again in a heartbeat.

Room Tip: The "condos" and golf units are smaller and more isolated so they are probably more quiet...

This is the 8th year we have stayed at Divi Golf and beach resort. We are going to sell our timeshare and look for a different place. Management has not improved the quality and has not been receptive to our suggestions. When we first bought the place it was awesome--everything was new. It has not been well maintained. After killing the third cockroach in the unit this year it was time to look elsewhere. The shower door did not work and we had to lift it up to open it. There was lots of mold in the walk in shower and on the walls. We had ants in the unit. There was a large scratch in the bathroom mirror. The TV remotes did not work. Divi has not put any money into the upkeep of these rooms. The hot tub on the roof was full of suds and not clean. The floor on the roof around the hot tub was rotting and not maintained. The pool is nice and the beach is good. I sure hope we can sell our timeshare there and will be looking elsewhere.

We apologize for the inconvenience and frustration that you experienced while staying with us at Divi Village. Despite not being pleased with our resort, we do hope that the remainder of your stay on island was pleasant enough and that you were able to return home with favorable memories of your stay on Aruba.

We're sorry that you feel that Divi Village has not been maintained, however, I would like to point out that Divi Village has been fully renovated as of December 2012.

If you decide to visit Aruba again, please contact me personally so that I can be sure your next visit is more than memorable.

Recently my wife and I met my cousin and her husband for a five day stay at the Divi Golf. We had an amazing time and were very happy to see that since our last visit they added additional palapa huts on the beach and even got brandnew beach lounge chairs. The property is huge with plenty to do and is extremely well maintained.
We had an apartment style room which allows you to prepare any and all meals in your own space and save money where you choose. I would recommend shopping for groceries at Ling & Sons by far the nicest out of all options.
Was able to introduce some folks to the wonderful game of golf and the course itself, although somewhat challenging, plays at a great pace and is very well kept from fairways to greens.
Although we spent most of our time by the beach the multiple pools are awesome as well with a water slide for kids and adults!
Love this place and hopefully can go again soon.

Room Tip: If you enjoy golf like me ask for a room with a view of the course

Love Aruba. Nice beaches, warm breeze. But the Divi Dutch Village was not A good experience. The only thing we liked was housekeeping. She was very nice and helpful. The rooms was in need of updates. The pool was nice. The staff was very unfriendly. The old timers(people who has timeshares for 20+ years) was unfriendly as well. We felt very out of place. An unwanted guest. But it was just my fiance and I Staying, I would never bring the whole family down. There are green towels you are suppose to receive at check-in. For security purposes i guess. But we did not know anything about them. So first day on beach we took our own towels. And then to the pool we go. But was defiantly not supposed to be there. We then learned about the towels. We stood by A shuttle stop and watched the shuttles(golf carts) just pass us right up. The first night there we actually starved. Didn't know where to go. We then rented A car the next day and started exploring our self's. It just did not feel like we belonged at all. We was not in the timeshare click or the all-inclusive click. We was offered A tour of Divi as we went to the flea market down the road. Even A supervisor from Divi came and met with us there. Scheduled the tour the next day. So we went to lobby. Know one new of us or about any tour. So they set us down to fill out this paper work and even then felt un-excepted by the staff. The gift wasn't A big deal. It was only $100. As they told us since we are staying at the Divi Dutch then we didn't qualify for that. But we already spent $3000 on room. We were really interested(at first) on getting A timeshare. But not at the Divi now. We checked in to others. We did check out the Mariot. The Divi will not get another dollar from our family or friends. They need to work on there people skills. Oh yea, I didn't mention I hardly slept there. The beds are very old and hard. Our air was pouring water from it and then supposedly been fixed. But next night poured on our suitcase. Looked like it was an ongoing problem. The wall was water damaged and peeling the plaster away. All and all VERY RUDE PEOPLE.... We stayed there January 12th through the 20th 2013 our room number was 66. My name is Brian Skidmore And Maryellen Evans.

Room Tip: Not at the DIVI

Convenient location on Eagle Beach. Excellent accommodations overlooking the golf course. Friendly staff. Well equipped unit suitable for preparing a great meal if you want to skip a night at the restaurant.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the golf course are best in my opinion

Aruba - fantastic place - beach was the best I've ever seen. great taking a dip in the company of pelicans.

Sun - I know people tell you its strong, but it really is - even if your a sun worshiper take some high factors and work your way down.

If your visiting the island, my first recommendation would be to hire a car. The roads are good and allowances are made for tourist, it will give you much more freedom and a break from sunbathing.

Accommodation-we had a one bedroom apartment, it was large but dated. Bathroom etc a bit worn and tired,, wires hanging from the ceiling as it work had be left half completed. Slight gap under the door mean we got the occasional lizard visitor.

Food - we were all inclusive -everyone likes different things - so some nights we really enjoyed it, others we didn't really fancy anything. We did go to the Divi but felt it wasn't much different. My partner loved the tepanyaki, however I wasn't so sure when I saw the food on trolleys being brush past and catching on clothes etc. We ate out a few times in the high rise area and enjoyed it.

The one thing that spoiled our stay in the apartments was...... the Americans, some were lovely, others saw you as an intruder. They camped out around the pools, moaning about kids using the pools when they weren't eligible too. Most of this group talked about how they had been coming for many years and had good deals on the timeshare with management wanted them out, due to great out of date contracts. The down side as I've said is they have built up a community and you are definitely seen as an outsider. We gave an iguana a banana one day and left some bread our for two beautiful love birds that visited our patio, only to receive a visit from security as out American neighbours had made a complaint.

If your staying here its not worth paying the extra for the apartment, go for the hotel rooms and get the fabulous see view. The Divi is a lot more plush but also more expensive.I think if we went again we would probably go to the Riu as there is a bit more going on.

I'm not anti American, far from it I havelots of American friends, but there were a lot of load brash americans in the bars getting very drunk (most of the day) - at the Divi it tended to be a bit more refined.

Given that this holiday costs us £4500 for two people I did have a slightly higher expectation of the accommodation.

Aruba - an amazing place and worth a visit - hotel great but don't bother with an apartment.

Room Tip: Hire a car, check out the fountain show, the shops in the capital are usually more expensive than at...
