“So Glad it Snowed!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 15, 2013

My husband and I stayed here for 3 nights after our flight was canceled due to the blizzard in the Northeast. Wow! What a great place! Garston the owner was so hospitable and accommodating, truly a great host. This place has such an eclectic atmosphere.
We stayed in room number 3 which is on the main floor off the communal sitting area. Our room had a king size bed, room darkening drapes, walk in shower, flat screen TV and a very quiet wall mounted air conditioner. There is a electric hot water kettle with a selection of tea and coffee and a small fridge. The whole hotel was very clean.
The pool, which is not large (no need to be) was very clean and actually much warmer than the resort we had just left. There were several areas around the pool to sit and sunbathe that afford privacy due to the plant placements in the gardens. Butterflies and hummingbirds are there all the time.
Garston does cook breakfast each morning and has a small menu with different choices. Several kinds of bread, meats, cheeses, eggs, fruit and wonderful coffee, which I wish I could find here in the States!
The hotel is in a residential area and was a 10 minute walk to downtown. The taxi to the high rise area is only 11.00, however if you have a car, there is free parking.
Garston offered a ride to the beach daily after breakfast for anyone who wished to go and stay on Eagle beach.
All in all it was a delightful stay and we will definitely return.
>> For those allergic to dogs, there is a very well behaved house dog in attendance.

We stayed here for 9 nights and enjoyed every minute! A fantastic hotel with beautiful clean rooms, nice garden with a swimmingpool, 10 minutes walk to the city centre with restaurants, Casinos, bars and stores, wonderful breakfast, free wifi...
We were picked up at the airport by the owner and he offered to drive us to the beach every morning. He also took us back to the airport when we had to leave...
I gladly return to this place!

This is a beautiful property managed by an owner who will bend over backwards to make your stay enjoyable, but unfortunately some things are way beyond his control. There are about a million dogs in Aruba and several of them live right around the hotel and every night during our four night stay they just had to serenade us until the wee hours of the morning. After the third night I was having nightmares starring Lassie and Rin-Tin-Tin. Add to this street noise from cars and bikes and the nights were pretty uncomfortable. You don't have to worry about security. The property sits bahind a big steel fence with barbed wire running across the back. Coming in from the street at night you'll pass through four locked doors before you get to your room. Too bad. Other than that the place is almost paradise. Just remember to bring your ear plugs.

Room Tip: Room 9 at the back is right next to the house with the noisy dogs.

My son & I stayed here for a 4 nights, Gaston is very accommodating, setting the room up for us as most of the rooms are set up for couples. We were in #9 the cottage, it is very large and has a refrigerator, microwave and coffee maker. The garden and pool area are well maintained and offer much privacy. While the hotel was full, we rarely saw others who were staying there.

The breakfast is made to order and way too much food (he told us, you are on vacation...eat) There is wifi available, and Gaston provides beverages at your request. The walk to downtown is .75 mile (we measured) so a solid 15 min walk. At night you will want to take a taxi, which will run $7, a good value. This is a good hotel for anyone who wants to just relax, the price is fantastic. I highly recommend this hotel.

Griffin the hotel dog, is friendly and well behaved.

Room Tip: #9 is separate from the main building if you are looking for extra privacy and quite large.

I very much enjoyed staying at Wonders. This is my last of 9 nights here. I haven't felt this relaxed in a very long time. As others have noted, the owner Gaston is an A+ host! He provided transportation from and to airport and he can help you with anything you need. Very knowledgeable. The building looks like a big house, and it only has 8 or 9 rooms. You don't have to leave the hotel to relax, the atmosphere is real mellow. I walked to the downtown area frequently, about a half mile away, maybe a little more. And there is a lot to do downtown! Casinos, restaurants and bars and stores. A very fancy (renissance) mall.

I rented a car for 5 days. You cannot walk to Eagle Beach from the hotel, and that is the closest beach.
There is a good reason why it is hard to book a room at this hotel! I think the place was 100% booked throughout my stay.

I had to spent one night in Aruba, waiting for my flight next day to NY-Paris-Bucharest. I arrived to Aruba island from Bogotá in the afternoon, around 5:20pm and Gastón was waiting to pick up me and go to the hotel. The room was wide, clean and comfortable. Simple, nice and practical. You have to use a normal key for the room door and for the main gate. Not too much people in the hotel, nice garden, green, trees, flowers, birds, even you can see parrots and other kinds of birds. TV and WiFi working quiet ok. Breakfast is delicious, and good enough. You can repeat coffee if you wants. If you need something, just ask to Gaston (Owner I guess, Administrator, Chef), he can help you all the time. Unfortunately for me, was raining during the night and in the morning next day, so I could not have the chance to use the pool, The pool is small, but enough to relax for a while swimming. Really if you are planning a vacation in a private, quiet and good place, this hotel is a good option. Just send an email to Gaston, through the webpage of the hotel and you can start your vacations with confidence. If you don not mind walking, just do it. the hotel is some blocks out of the downtown, otherwise will be a good thing rent a car.

I spent a week during New Years at Wonders, and even though it was high season I definitely found the peace and tranquility I was looking for. Its a beautiful house with a beautiful garden and swimming pool located in the heart of Oranjestad. You can walk to the Center and find easily transportation to the beaches, even though the owner offers always to take you.
The breakfast every morning served at the garden is wonderful.. I could only write good things about it so dont hesitate in having this experience for yourself!
Gaston is an excellent host.
