Description: Aruba is all about the fabulous beaches during the day, and the many great restaurants at night. It is only logical that these two unique things of Aruba are combined into one! Luc & Gerco found the perfect spot to synergize great food, and a beautiful setting to create an experience almost unique on our island. When listening to the ocean caressing the shore, while wiggling your toes through the pearly white sand, why not let yourself be pampered by a gourmet dinner? Chef Gerco & Maitre d' Luc had a shared dream of opening up a restaurant here, but wanted something in line with what they enjoy on Aruba: the nearly perfect climate, the possibility to always be outside, the tropical feel... When opening their restaurant, they had these ideas in their heads, and it worked like a charm! Tables under a large palapa on a wooden deck with a view of the ocean, or outside under the Aruban nights sky, on the pristine beach... An original menu was created by Gerco and Justin, with some of the old school favorites (sirloin with bearnaise, or tuna steak with teriyaki) as well as some original dishes not found anywhere, with unique combinations (smoked salmon & shrimp, grouper & mango or leg & rack of lamb) and wonderful vegetarian dishes. With the help of the local wine suppliers, Luc made an extensive wine list, with wines from all over the world, and is always ready to pair a wine with your dinner. The experienced service team is friendly yet professional, ready to wow you from the moment you walk in, to make a fabulous evening into a great memory on Aruba!

“The best meal in Aruba in two years....”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 14, 2013

There was nothing wrong with our experience with Barefoot.

Think about that and how incredibly rare it is.

We made reservations online weeks in advance, mentioning that it was for a special occasion (25th Anniversary), and not only did they manage to keep the reservation (unlike Madame Janette who seems clueless about their online reservations) they also remembered the occasion and had champagne for our party.

The restaurant is beautiful and offers toes in the sand dining (both inside and out!), and the outside seating is lovely. We ate early so as to see the sunset, but truly the way they have the outside dining area lit, it was even prettier when the sun went down.

The food was simply the finest we have eaten on Aruba during out two vacations there. The grouper with Mango cream cheese sauce was the best piece of fish I have ever eaten, and every person in our party made similar comments about their selections.

The wait staff was top notch, and by that I mean actually top notch by "normal" standards - not be the reduced Arubian standards that you come to expect after 10 or so dinners out. The wait staff was prompt, courteous, and helpful - offering to take group photos for any party that wanted it and enhanced the experience.

Barefoot is a bit out of the way - but is worth the extra time or cab fare, as it is without a doubt the best dinner experience we have come across on the island!

“This is the place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2013

The service was to of the line. The food was great. The atmosphere was absolutely wonderful. Even before we got out to the beach to our table, we made reservations to come back our last night in aruba. This is the place. Great wine, great food, great atmosphere, and you can eat on the beach.

“Beautiful Sunset and Wonderful Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 12, 2013

Once again TA led us to a great dinner. This gem is not in the best section of town but or cabbie knew exactly where to go. The restaurant is at the end of town just before the airport. But don't let that deter you!

We had an early reservation (must) but since sunset is at 6:30 this worked out perfect. Our table was on the beach. Since all beaches in Aruba are public we enjoyed watching local children do flips off a nearby dock. A couple of tourists sitting on the beach nearby downing a few beers added to the ambiance. No really...it just added to the relaxed atmosphere.

We tried a couple of different local concoctions. But like at the hotels, we wonder just how much booze is actually added to the drinks. Ha. But they were favorable and had umbrellas!

We chose the Dutch Crab cakes for an appetizer. Hmmm next time I should ask what's in something because although tasty I would bet no crab!

We each had a fish dinner - both excellent. Me snapper. She grouper.

So in short GO. It's a fun relaxed and excellent dinner spot. You'll spend $40 per person or more with drinks and dessert.

“Fantastic Dining Experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 11, 2013

The rave reviews for the Barefoot Restaurant are warranted and deserved. The food here is excellent. Both the chicken and seafood dinners we had were first rate, not only were they quality recipes with interesting ingredients, but both items were cooked perfectly. The difference between this restaurant and other sunset view options is that this has a covered roof over a good portion of the restaurant, which mitigates the wind a good bit. The other key difference is that the wait staff is genuinely friendly and intent on providing an exceptional experience. Not always the case in Aruba for some reason. Prices were reasonable, the wine list was thorough without being tedious and the wait staff, from the host to the waitress to the manager were on their game. When you drive by this restaurant, the location and external appearance don't seem inspiring. Do NOT let this fool you into thinking this place is one of the top dining options on the island. I will make it a point to return here.
