“lizards rule!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed February 2, 2008

views were absolutely fantastic. The rooms were basic and the first one we had smelt musty and damp but after pleading with the receptionist we were given another but did have to wait 3 hours for the guest to book out of it! The rooms did have a problem with lizards but they are harmless. The food was vey basic and very repetative. Most of the staff were helpful. It is worth paying for the use of the divi as this had better food and facilities and less drunken youngsters. The rooms are all sea fronted but ask for one near the main hotel/pool as these were better and less damp.

We were fortunate to have stayed at the Tamirijn during a week in which the place was not full. As such we were able to get accomations in the 2300 block which is one of the only truly "sandy" beach areas at the resort. however,on our last night when the crowds started to arrive ,some of them were really noisy and one had to wait on a long line for the buffet dinners etc.. There were some "chair hogs", people who left their beach towels unattended all day. The location of the room was in itself worth the cost of the vacation!!. The food is only so, so and the mixed drinks were poorly made. Top shelf liquor is available but you have to ask. The shuttle service was at times very poor, especially at noon when they are hustling to make money on everyone who is checking out. Avoid having to travel on them during this time. Otherwise they will take you right to your door if you ask! The staff was attentive and helpful. We liked the restaurant Ginger the best but, all of them had good service. The sun always seems to shine in Aruba .This was our third visit in 3 years and we will probably return.

This resort was Just Great, from the staff on the grounds to the staff at the Red Parrot. We enjoyed the facility and the beach was fabulous. We toured the island on a Jeep Tour to the Natural Pool and this was perfect. Iris the concierge at the Tamarijn booked our outings and she was a wonderful help to us. We plan to go back many more times.
The dissappointing part of our trip was the flight arrangements made by SIGNATURE VACATIONS, they truly suck ! Don't book with them. Flight delays, direct flights changed to connecting stop overs, and poor information and communication form the Signature staff. They left us in the dark. The weather was very good but it did rain for about 5 minutes every day, Not bad. There is always a breeze on this island so leave your comb at home..
Bring lots of sun screen and several bathing suits, you will live on the beach.

Have fun.

My husband and I spent a week at the mega all inclusive Tamarijn. We had a lovely stay and the reviews are pretty accurate.
The place does all it can to please the tourists and there is something for everyone to feel right at home (I noticed the mac and cheese was a bit hit at the buffet). After about 3 days we felt that we were missing something in this Caribbean experience. We went to St. Martin last year and really felt like we were somewhere different. We liked it better.
We borrowed bikes and spent an afternoon in Oranjestad. It is close to the Tam. The cruiseships unload the tourists in Oranjestad and they are off to bargain at the jewellery stores. We had a great diving experience with Jads (ask for the phone book at reception, in the white pages). This is not the diving place that the Tam recommends butaw we had read good reviews on it before the trip. The friendly Jads crew picked us up at the Tam and we were only 3 to dive, with 2 master divers. I highly recommend it! Jads is at Baby Beach and I enjoyed resting there after the dives. We had chosen to go to Aruba because we like to dive.
We also did the ATV tour. It was OK.
The maintenance staff at the Tam is very active and the place is spotless. The food was good. Dinner reservations were easy to make and we tried all the restaurants. We liked the Red Parrot and Paparazzi. We had fun watching the bird called the "sugar thief", a tiny yellow and black bird who steals sugar from the table. Service is slow and we just helped ourselves for drinks at the bar at lunch time and for breakfast, if it took too long, I would get a tea from the machine. No big deal.
The beach is magnificient and I enjoyed going for long walks. The snorkeling at the resort is good as well. We went quite far, up to where the poles are and this is where the reef stops. We saw 7 squids all lined up around the pole and a lot of colourful fishes. We tried to go another day but there was a bit of current and decided to stay closer to the shore and hunt for shells.
The view from all the rooms is good and we watched the sunset every evening. We were in the 25th block, which is the furthest ay from reception (5-7 minutes walk) and from the Divi.
There were people of all ages and many were returning visitors.
If you are looking for a place to relax, this is it.

My husband and I just returned home from our 2nd stay at the Tamarijn. The staff was always friendly and helpful when needed. Beach was beautiful. Food was average. Could use some improvement but figure we got what we paid for. The hotel staff kept the grounds clean throughout the day. We will probably return next winter for our vacation.

My husband and I spent a week at the Tamarijn from Jan 6-13... What a great experience! Yes, the rooms are smaller, but we really didn't spend much time in our room. However, they are always clean and cool.
The staff at the Tam are friendly, despite what others say. If you're in a hurry and can't wait a couple minutes for a drink, then stay home! Some people were so rude to the wait staff; if they would just relax, they would get better service!
We snorkelled right in front of the resort, and it was pretty good! We saw all kinds of fish (there are two old concrete pipes in the water near the 2100 block - go there!), as well as spiny lobsters (out from the bunker bar under concrete slab), an octopus, little squid, a triggerfish, these fish with wings that I still don't know what they are... and lots of shells, which I collected.
We also went scuba diving with Native Divers of Aruba. Romeo is a riot; he sings and makes jokes all day long... It was our first time diving since we've gotten certified, and we felt a little uncomfortable at first, but ended up having a wonderful experience! We ended up booking another day with Romeo after our first 2 dives... (Jane Sea, Plonco Reef, Antilla and Debbie II were the dives we did)
I would also recommend the ATV Mania Tour by DePalm tours and the Sunset Sail... The ATV tour was so much fun - you're legally allowed to drive on the streets of Aruba on an ATV! We saw some beautiful sites... If you have motorcycle goggles, bring them! It's a little dusty! The Sunset Sail was so nice! We wished we had booked it sooner on our trip, because we probably would have gone twice! They poured some very good drinks on that boat!
We are hoping to visit the Tam again next year. We had such a great time - we always felt safe, the people were friendly, there were no people on the beach trying to sell you stuff, and there's so much to do! And, of course, the weather is absolutely wonderful! 85-95 degrees all the time... what more could you ask for?
If you have questions, don't be shy!

My best friend and i stayed at the Tamarijn for a 5 day/4 night package to celebrate our 40th birthdays (leaving children and husbands behind) We had an awesome experience on every level. The entire staff was incredibly friendly in a very sincere, comfortable way. The grounds, rooms and facilities were very clean (and constantly being cleaned). Overall, the food in the main dining buffet area was a solid GOOD. However, the food at the Ginger, the Papparazzi and The Red parrot (at the sister facility, the Divi) was excellent. There is also the Palm Grill where you sit at a round heated-table and cook your own stir fry. Reservations are required for those restaurants and you will want to make those upon arrival to get the times you desire. The sunset was at 6:30 every night, so we made our dinner reservations for 7:30 so that we could stay on the beach for sunset and then head in to shower up. The attire for the Papparazzi is the only time you might want to dress up a bit more, while the others are island casual. The food at the Pizza Frutti pool bar area is actually really good. The pizzas, club sandwiches and gourmet sandwiches are better than what was offered at the buffet many days. All of the rooms are oceanfront, however, the best block of rooms will be found between buildings 15-18. These rooms have the nicest view of the ocean, with tiki huts and lounge chairs waiting for you. These rooms are also between the two outdoor bars and close to the pool and dining areas so it's easy to grab food and drinks throughout the day and relax under your hut. The buildings between 19-25 still have a great view of the water, but you are also looking toward the cargo ship terminal and the container docks (it kind of distracts from the feeling that you're in paradise when you can see commercial stuff. The beach area ( or sandy area) is also really small. The rooms are very clean and feel a little bit on the small side when you first walk in. You come to realize that you are actually never in your room except to sleep and shower, so it feels big enough in the end. There are nightly shows at both the Tam and the Divi, but after 9pm, it seems most of the action and good music was at the Divi. You can catch a golf cart shuttle back and forth or you can walk the boardwalk to get to the Divi. We felt very safe the entire time and never sensed any kind of riff raff. There are security guards out on the beach at night, quietly patrolling. I have travelled to many islands and my husband and I are huge beach lovers. With the exception of Turks and Caicos (our favorite beach by far), Aruba is in the top 3 for me. The water is gorgeous (grab your blue float and float around for hours) and the beach is awesome. You might here about beachfront trouble in the Tamarijn's past (a hurricane wiped out the beach last year) but they have created an awesome setting and you'll truly enjoy the short hop from your room to the lounge chair to the water. If you like to snorkel, you'll want to take a tour elsewhere because there isn't too much to see right off of the beach from the hotel. An overall excellent experience and I can't wait to go back. People might say that the beach is better at the Divi, but it's simply bigger and you have to walk a little distance from your room to the shoreline. The Tamarijn puts you right on the waters edge at all times, I would definitely request blocks 15-18 to be sure to have THE best environment. Enjoy yourselves...we certainly did! I would definitely recommend this resort for couples, families, and friend getaways-there is something to do for everyone.
