“Nice for the price”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

Just returned from a 4 night Easter trip. We are a family of 6, travel 4 - 5 times a year and I think I am objective when rating accomodations. We stayed in Vista 1, in 2 rooms facing the pool and beach (Rooms 207 and 209). We booked "Oceanview" but realized that there was an "Oceanfront" option right before we arrived. We could have upgraded for the last 2 days of our trip but decided that the Oceanview rooms were just fine. The rooms themselves are what we expected. They are a little worn and the bathrooms could use updating. The staff was friendly and engaging if you have questions. The food is not as bad as people report nor is it as good as people report. It is right down the middle and decent. We enjoy having drinks (alcoholic) while on the beach and for this alone, it was worth being at an all inclusive. The kids loved the self serve ice cream and frozen drinks they prepared at the bar. We awoke every morning at 6:45 and went out to secure one of the grass umbrellas to use for the day. The beach and water were wonderful and very similar to the Destin - Watercolor beaches of Northwest Florida. We walked down to the Tamarijn everyday just to check it out and the walk along the beach was short and pleasant. All in all, this is a great place to relax and enjoy some beach time. But just remember to arrive at the Aruba airport at least 2 1/2 - 3 hours before your return flight. You clear US Customs in Aruba so you have multiple security and passport checks while getting to your gate. We are planning on returning next year.

The rooms were not exactly spotless. Our room had mold in the bathroom, the room just did not feel sanitized etc. But the staff was friendly. The food was really just ok - like a 5 out of a 10. The beach was a nice location to the resort. Quiet, and relaxing. Great time with a group of friends here. Easy to get in and out of the Aruba airport from the states, and easy to get to the resort. My husband enjoyed the golf course.

I was very disappointing in this resort. I read quite a few reviews and have no idea why this place garners such positive feedback.

Please not the only options for breakfast and lunch are buffet and snack bars. There are no ala carte offerings before 6pm and the snack bar menus are extremely limited. The food is not good even at the restaurants. People who give these restaurants positive reviews are not to be trusted. The food is mass produced and institutional in quality. If a public school were in charge of a resort this is the food I would expect.

Pros
Beachfront room
Quiet beach compared to the highrise.

Cons
Concierge was unhelpful and rude.
They charge for little things like use of the room safe ($2 a day as of March 2013) and wifi. ($10 per day as of March 2013)
The room was old
Squeaky bed
Broken Shower head
General musty odor

The food was terrible in quality, presentation and taste.

We holidayed here August 2012 with our 8 year old daughter and had a wonder time. I struggled a bit with the time difference from the UK, waking at 2am and them 5am the first morning and then forever destined to wake at 5:30am for the duration of the holiday. But it appeared I was not the only one, and at that time you could pretty much choose your sunbed, watch the sunrise which is beautiful and get a coffee and chat amongst yourselves or read a book until the dining room opened for breakfast at 7am or until your respective other halves woke up. Of which my husband and daughter did not have a problem adjusting to the difference. Around the pool area little iguanas roam freely on the hunt for scraps, some are bolder than others and will climb on to your sun lounger for food. If you don't want this don't leave food where they can see it. They will eat pizza and the like too..
I terms of excursions there are trips to see an amazing beach the south end of the island and a nature reserve and a light house etc.. but they are a fair bit of money. In the end we hired a car a visited most of these places in just one day. The amazing beach the reps go on about has to be see etc.... blah blah blah is absolutely jam packed with tourists you can't move to the point you wonder if you've got the right beach it doesn't match the description sold by the reps. But if you almost walk across the car park to the beach on the right which is deserted its beautiful. Ok you can see a factory in the distance, but the beach is lovely and not full to the brim with tourists!
The snorkling trip was also very good and we had a lot of fun doing that. You are taken out over a couple of old ship wrecks which you can see crystal clear. The sea can be a bit choppy so far out for the little ones so be warned but its only that one area, other than that they will love seeing all the fish.
Back at the hotel the room was a decent size. I'm pretty sure we were told to keep the air con on all night, but TBH I find it too cold and too noisy. We slept with just the fan. Also our room was by a broken ice cooler that kept bleeping in the early hours. In the end we had to unplug the machine to shut the thing up. No one had worked out this was the reason why it was out of action in the whole time we were there. Don't get me wrong we reported in as broken several times first to no avail.
The food here was pretty good, self service buffet style. Plenty to choose from and many different styles. I'd say you would be able to find something that you would like to eat. You could stay safe with salads and chips or be more adventurous with local foods with were pretty good. Although if you like you desserts I'm afraid the selection was a little baron. However the ice cream machines around the resort would I'm sure make up for this. My daughter certainly made full use of this. We put a ban on them and made her ask before using in the end!
There were a number of restaurants that you could eat at including those at the Tamarin. The Chinese restaurant was really good as was the palm grill where you cook your food on the table. The shuttles to and fro the hotel were really frequent as well.
Room service was really good. One night my daughter was really ill and threw-up all over her bed. A quick call to reception to explain what had happened and they had house keeping around changing all the sheets, duvet, pillows, within minutes, and mopping the floor. And they were really sympathetic and not at all annoyed or pissed off about it like some places or people can be. (Certain hotel we stayed at in Egypt).
Pool and beach area was fantastic and I have to say I never really noticed a big issue with a lack of sun beds. Occasionally you got a couple of people trying to save loungers all day and not turning up until the afternoon, but the pool attendant were quite good at spotting this.
Entertainment was adequate nothing to write home about but for a small resort a lot better than we've suffered at larger resorts.
All in all a really good holiday one of the top holidays we've had. Would certainly recommend to others.

The Divi Aruba All Inclusive resort was a fantastic trip for my entire family. The kids loved the self serve ice cream machine and the pool/beach facilities were excellent! The restaurant was 5-star at all of the restaurants besides the Palm Grill at the Tam (Divi's sister hotel that all guests have access to). Overall, it was my favorite vacation by far! A must see island with guarenteed weather and a gorgeous resort everyone will love!

My husband and I had our honeymoon here and plan on brining our children back with us in September. The taxi from the airport was a safe 15-20 minute ride and we were able to see a lot of the island. The check in process was extremely easy and everyone was very friendly. We were helped with our bags to our room which was not particularly fancy but very spacious, extremely clean, and had an AMAZING balcony view of the pool and beach. We went down to the bar and were able to get a delicious sandwich or pizza with one of their signature drinks (try the Aruba Arriba!) the bartender was pretty friendly (he let us get two extra drinks as we were planning to stay in our room for awhile) and we took our food and drinks right back up to our balcony to sit and relax after a long flight. Dinner was great we ate at the Red Parrot; very romantic first honeymoon dinner outdoors on the beach surrounded by Tiki Torches and music...amazing. Breakfast buffet choices got to be a little boring after 7 days but it wasn't horrible. We ate lunch and dinner at all of the restaurants loved them all, but definitely take the time to go to Windows on Aruba the food and views were AMAZING!!! The nightime entertainment is a tiny bit cheesy; dancers DJ's, music etc. but we enjoyed it. Some evenings they have locals come and they set up tables to sell things which we liked alot. They also have a great gift shop with pretty reasonable prices for souveniers. The front desk area was extremely helpful in booking some excursions for us. Also, in between the Divi and Tam there was a place to rent boats; banana boats, speed boats etc...we took two of those excursions and rented our own litle boat to drive and then did an awesome raft ride where we were pulled along by a speed boat....such a great honeymoon!!!!

Room Tip: The Vista Rooms are close to the entertainment and pool and all offer views of the beach! We loved t...

Vista II building needs immediate bathroom upgrade. Awful mildew odor. Cleanliness is excellent, but bathrooms are worn out. Ocean front rooms are in this building, but the room rate must be based on the view. Not the room. Furniture old and outdated
