After long hot day of driving around the island for some sightseeing, we decided to escape crowded Oranjestad and give Marandi a try. Unfortunately, the guidebook we had gave terrible directions so I had to call the restaurant for directions. If you drive, the restaurant is past the airport and you should follow the signs for "General Aviation" because it's easy to get lost.
The trip is worth it though because Marandi has a charming, quiet location on the water and it's a nice escape from the crowded Hi-rise area and busy Oranjestaad. We were warmly greeted and invited to select any table we wanted. The ambiance is wonderful and the food was delicious and we were treated to a beautiful sunset (the staff was very happy to snap a sunset photo). I ordered the pork dish, which I found quite tasty and my friend had the grouper, which she also enjoyed. I wouldn't say it was the absolute best food we had during our stay on Aruba but for the food quality, romantic ambience, attentive service and overall experience, I would definitely recommend a trip out to Marandi.
