The beautiful Paradise Beach Villas made the most relaxing and pleasing vacation possible.
We just returned from our one week vacation. The hotel is nothing fancy, probably it could use some "face lift". We stayed on first floor, unit 122 across from pool. You need to cross two-way street in order to get to a beautiful beach, white sands... but not so many lounges and maybe ten umbrellas to protect you from sun. The beach, like every other in Aruba, is public so during spring break and Easter holiday it was a little challenge to find either of them. Expect people having tents erected right on beach especially during weekends or holidays.
Island is small, 6x22 miles we were told, with eastern side uninhabited, rocks, dust and huge cactus', rough waters and many tourists on ATV or 4x4 driving through dirt roads, which some are really very bad. Don't try to go there with sedan car, some rock are very sharp and can cut your tire. At some point you cannot continue along east coast, there is not even a dirt road.
We drove to port and took boat to De Palm Island for half a day, $ 72.50 /person and we had a blast, beautiful snorkeling site with lots of colorful fish, food and beverages included.
Food in general is expensive compare to USA, as well as meals in restaurants is quite pricey. We had dinner in Le Petit Restaurant in our resort and they served raw meat on some kind of rock heated to 500 degrees, you cut it into small pieces and cook it to your desire turning around, it was fun, never dined this way.
Another place with delicious meal was Texas de Brazil, around high rise hotels, they go around with many different meats...
A must place is Flying Fishbone Restaurant set right on ocean in Savaneta, south of Oranjestad, we had meat ( could have seafood) chef's surprise, which was three course diner, absolutely delicious.
If you are into scuba, there are many different companies you can go with, we booked through S.E Aruba Fly'n Dive and were very satisfied with them, went to southern sites, excellent sites with many corals, fish and ocean flora... exquisite!
We had perfect time in Aruba, people are very friendly... island is just lovely! I would go back in a heart beat, but picked a different hotel though.
We have been to Aruba several times and have stayed at places other than PBV. We always go back to Paradise. The units are clean, large and have well equipped kitchens. The staff are great and very accomodating. The rooms are being updated. Overall, I would highly recommend Paradise Beach Villas to friends and family!!
We did an Interval International trade, and did not know what to expect of Paradise Beach Villas, although we have been to Aruba many many times.
It was a very pleasant surprise to get a beautiful large unit with a huge balcony overlooking the pool. It was a one bedroom with a large living and dining area, a quality kitchen, and a bathroom with a shower that had great water pressure. Everything worked perfectly in the unit, and it was clean as a whistle.
The entire resort was well maintained (unlike others we have stayed at) and the two spas kept a constant water temperature that was warm & comfortable. The pools with waterfalls were delightful, the food and drinks at the Tiki bar were wonderful.
There was an internet room with two computers you could rent at a good rate (a one dollar bill buys you 12 minutes). There's a laundry in each building. The small gift shop had the basics, and the small gym had a treadmill, two other machines and some weights.
We rented a car and so we got around OK. There is not much within walking distance although I saw people taking the bus.
All in all it was a delightful week in a beautiful big unit.
My friends and I booked our stay at Paradise Beach Villas through my timeshare. We normally do the all-inclusives or rent a villa so this was a bit different but most enjoyable. The rooms are quite nice, well-furnished and, most importantly, clean. We were on the second floor facing the pool and the ocean which is just across the road from the resort which was not at all a problem. The beach there is clean with sufficient seating and not at all crowded. The best part of the vacation was all the nice people we met, many of them owners and/or regulars. I'm not sure if this is the norm or not, but I will say that there seemed to be more middle-aged and older people than there were the younger crowd so we fit right in. Activities at the resort are next to nil....one morning of water aerobics, one night with entertainment, and an afternoon of bingo. I would suggest renting a car since there isn't much within walking distance and riding the frequent buses leaves a lot to be desired. We drove the island quite extensively and, for the most part, the roads are easily traveled. Most everything you need or want is a 5-10 minute drive away. I would suggest Ling's for groceries if you plan to do any cooking. Keep in mind that everything is expensive in Aruba so be prepared for "sticker shock" if you're from the U.S. This was my second trip to Aruba having stayed at the Tamarijn the first time which is also quite nice. I would return to the "friendly island" in a heartbeat.
