Antigua is small and so will be your investment in visiting Nelson's Dockyard and the Interpretation Centre to learn about the history of Antigua.
The Dockyard itself contains very few buildings of deep historical interest. There are many more interesting restored British naval outposts to explore in North America. The museum on the grounds, although small, does have some interesting displays and information. Your total time investment here will be around 30 minutes.
Of more interest is the Dow's Hill Interpretation Centre found on the way to Shirley Heights. One fee gets you into the Centre and the Dockyard. The Centre has an interesting 30 minute video on the history of Antigua. After viewing, you will have a much better understanding of the Antiguan people and the island they call home.
