“Tranquil Beauty”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 22, 2012

Normally on a vacation people will ask ,"where did you go?" This can be a one stop destination.
This was the most relaxing vacation I can remember. The location is beautiful. We had a plantation shuttered suite with a comfortable patio. We sauntered a short way to breakfast or lunch which was open air looking out over the bay with beautiful sailing ships which had come for the special weeks' events. Comfortable lounge beds dotted the beach or infinity pool area. Attendants made sure you had cool water or drinks if you wished. They would stroll by with fresh fruit for you while you sunbathed. A shuttle will take you up the hill for lovely patio dining if you wish. A boat also will take you around the bay a quick trip to see more of the historical area. Not your pounding disco kind of place.

Wow. We just finished five short days here. What an incredible spot. The hotel is on acres of property with the main house having a commanding view of a pristine English Bay. The beach is pure white sand and gentle with palm trees gently swaying in the breeze. And the pool with its luxurious size and infinity pool is also bathtub warm and comfortable.

There is terrific snorkeling right outside the door and Shirley Lookout, The historic fort of British origin are just 15 minutes away by the Inn ferry or by a short walk.

What makes the place extra special is the staff. Carlos is wonderful as manager. Christina did a great job arranging wonderful trips. We spent three hours in a rid (rigid inflatable dinghy) visiting remote beaches culminating in a snorkel and walk at rendezvous bay pristine and unspoiled with literally only us and our captain. Wow.

We were in a modified American plan and the breakfasts were wonderful affairs right on the water. The daiquiris and run punch was also great. The dinners were wonderful too. The pasta and the lamb shank especially were phenomenal. Made in great al dente style. Like Italians like it. Wesley and the rest of the wait staff were wonderful as well. And if u want to splurge try the private jetty dinner for two. Nothing like dining by yourselves under the stars.

We were lucky to e there at the start of the season before all the yachts and cruise liners showed up. What we found was a private magical piece of heaven :-)

We spent the most relaxing and wonderful 7 days here. The staff are so helpful and friendly, the rooms were modern and clean but friendly, great food with lots of italian influence as the hotel has Italian manager and owners. You have your own private beach, just beside English Harbour where the hotel provides a shuttle boat over to, if you need to ever leave the paradise of the hotel! They also have 2 great tennis courts, kayaks available and snorkeling gear. Overall we would highly recommend Inn at English harbour!

Room Tip: The beach cabanas are wonderful as you are directly on the beach with a great view, but for people w...

We have to leave tomorrow, but what a fantastic week! We were looking for for somewhere low key and individual. We wanted great food and when people talked to us we wanted genuine conversation, not the platitudes from some corporate handbook.

Well we've had the best of the best. Our bedroom, a junior suite has a high vaulted ceiling, polished dark wood floors a large and very comfortable bed and best of all the balcony looks over the gardens and pool and through the palms to the sea - such a peaceful setting and my perfect moment was sipping a coffee on our first morning just before 7 as it was still getting light.

Foodwise breakfast are the perfect start to the day, lots of fresh fruit followed by freshly cooked to order and rounded off with croissants. A little more substantial than my 2 pieces of toast at home. Lunch menus offer a choice of salads pastas, bruschetta and paninis. Dinner is exceptional. What I like most is the menus are well thought out. They do not run to 12 pages. Dinner generally consists of 3 or 4 starters and the mains always include fish, steaks and 2 or 3 other suggestions. I have to single out Wesley for high praise. Very amusing and knows his subject. His advice on wines has been great. His island stories are always amusing and we're still giggling over his tale of flying back from Barbados this week.

We have provisionally held rooms for November we're so pleased with our week here - now to BA.com for a flight deal

Room Tip: we had a junior suite upstairs and we loved it

This Caribbean gem is an oasis of peace and not for those seeking anything but quiet relaxation. Simply charming caribbean style beach cottages are set right on the sand, with larger colonial style suites set back behind the pool. The gardens are beautiful, full of flowering plants and trees and are immaculately maintained. The lovely big pool has plenty of loungers and shade and the water was quite warm. The beach is great, lovely clear water good for snorkelling and an abundance of pelicans and other sea birds. It also felt very private with just the occasional visitor.
We were very impressed by the staff, without fail everyone was friendly, professional and very efficient. Great maid service and turn-down. Food quality and variety was excellent, no idea why some previous reviewers were not satisfied by the vast choice at breakfast, which in our experience exceeded all expectations. Dinner was consistently great - the menu changes every day but always includes fresh catch of the day and a host of other options, the fresh pasta starters are not to be missed. Neil looks after the bars and is a great mixer of cocktails and presides over the very comprehensive wine list in his inimitable style. The setting for dinner is classy and charming. I will give one example of our dining experience: Aperitifs: Lime daiquiri x1, Old fashioned rum punch x1. Starters: Rigatoni with artichoke/sausage/sun dried tomato. Melon gazpacho + shrimp tempura. Mains: Seafood risotto, Rack of Lamb with melanzane parmagiano. Wines: Santa Cristina Pinot Grigio (Antinori), Marques de Caceres Rose. Desserts: Panna Cotta, Mango Sorbet. All brilliantly excecuted!
As we were staying on the beach, the shuttle service up to the restaurant for dinner was a must and highly efficient. We used the boat shuttle over to Nelson's Dockyard, which is fascinating.
All in all, this is possibly the nicest and best run hotel we have stayed, anywhere in the world. It is a very special place and for us the ambience and peace (no kids) coupled with the excellent management of Fabio Georgi (charming and laid back) and the great team, means we will be returning as soon as we can. We felt the half-board (MAP) rates were excellent value for money.
My only criticism is the very patchy wifi and poor cell phone coverage, which meant communication with the outside world was problematical sometimes. This seems to be a problem in the wider English Harbour area (we did not have any problems when we moved over to Galley Bay area) But this really is a small price to pay for such a lovely hotel in a gorgeous setting!!

We just returned from our second stay at The Inn and we enjoyed the second visit just as much as the first. We had enjoyed our first trip so much that we wondered if the second trip could possibly be as good as the first and it certainly was. All of the staff is very friendly and does a wonderful job of taking care of you. Veir, who handles the water activities and water taxi was especially helpful and friendly, as was Vicky at the Reef Restaurant who always greeted us with a smile. We have stayed in a beach cabana as well as one of the suites. While the cabana is small, we like that it is located on the beach. We are only in our room to sleep and shower so the smallness of the cabana doesn't really matter much to us. The suite, however, was absolutely lovely with all of the wood and wonderful balcony. The suites are located just a few steps from the pool and beach. We don't think you can go wrong with either the cabanas or the suites. We never had a problem finding a great spot with some shade on the beach. There were plenty of beach chairs. We used the infinity pool this trip as well and it is also nice, I read in one of the other reviews about the grounds staff being loud. We did not experience that situation when we stayed in the cabana in the spring. Yes, they start early but they never disturbed us. They would have the beach raked and cleaned before most people even had breakfast. By the time you were ready to go to the beach, it was beautiful and looked pristine. We went snorkeling just inside the entrance to the bay and saw many types of fish. We also used the kayaks which are available and enjoyed that as well. We look forward to returning to The Inn. It is the perfect place to relax.

The resort is located on a beautiful harbour with good snorkeling. The beach cabana rooms were clean and wonderful. The staff was super friendly and we had a great time. One of my issues was with the meal plan. We arrived late in the evening (11:00) and no one explained the meal plan to us, not even the next morning when we walked up to the main house. We did not know that our meal plan included dinner. We only ate dinner one night that we were there. The night we did have dinner I was excited to have Caribbean lobster. I asked the waiter if they were big and he said "of course" only to find out that they did not have lobster even though it was on the menu. I talked to another guest and they said it was the same problem the night before. How does a Caribbean restaurant run out of lobster 2 nights in a row?

Dear Cyndiwilson,
Thank you for your choosing our resort for your 3 days break away from the frenetic life style back home and experience the relaxing atmosphere of our resort and the island of Antigua.
My apologies for the miscommunication regarding your meal plan, I was informed that the briefing was given at the desk the next morning in addition to information regarding Shirley Height evening entertainment. Also your confirmation documents highlights your meal plan, however we are sorry for failing to be clearer in this matter.
We work with several local fishermen who supply us with fresh fish and lobsters. We are a preferred client for all of them yet sometimes due to unsettled sea conditions (see tropical storm Ernesto) the supply of lobsters can be problematic. In addition, at this time of the year there is a moratorium on catching lobster in the majority of the Caribbean island due to the reproduction period. We always do our best to ensure a constant supply of this beautiful dish, for our guests in the freshest conditions possible. Probably more information on this issue would have helped to avoid any disappointment on your behalf. We hope to see you again and this time a lobster dinner will be on us.
