“Overnight stay at the Windchimes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 12, 2012

We stayed at the Windchimes, Antigua for the night before going on the uk from Anguilla. The rooms are spacious and decorated nicely. It was the first time I had travelled with my children but not my husband, and i felt very comfortable and safe. Someone was in the office all night. We were greeted lovely and the owner ordered us a pizza for dinner from a local take away (he also gave us the menu to somewhere more expensive if we wanted) as it is near the airport, so abit of a way into town etc, and we also got to choose breakfast which was brought to our room - croissants, fruit, juice - very nice.
It was lovely being right opposite the runway, the kids loved the view of jumbos landing from our balcony - yet it didnt seem noisy at all once you shut the door.
We had a very pleasant stay here and would definatly recommend it, we also thought it was nice that we were allowed to stay in the room longer for no extra charge to save going to the airport so early.
I would stay there again.

This is a wonderful little B&B located very close to the VC Bird International airport in Antigua. The room is very clean and has air conditioning. We stayed there for one night and it was perfect.

A few words of advice. If you are not into airplanes and the noise then you will need to find another place farther away. The planes take off and land up to around 10:30 pm. We found it fascinating to watch them take off but we were fast asleep when the big super jumbo jet took off at 10:30pm. We both thought the world was going to end for a few seconds... But then we went back to sleep!

Also, there is not much to see within safe walking distance. The road is a major road and has heavy traffic. If you are hungry the office can order pizza or subs from the local restaurant and they will deliver. Prices are in EC so don't flip out when you see $57.00 for a large pizza. Its actually a lot closer to $20.00. I would order a mixed drink too! They bring them in plastic cups with lids. They were yummy!

Great experience and an awesome place to stay especially if you are flying out early the next morning to the local islands like Barbuda.

The airport in Antigua is an important hub for the Windward Islands so sooner or later you have to overnight for convenience... Wind Chimes was recommended to me by a friend who is a cricket fan and was a bit skeptical about how 'the owner is a great guy" so I won't have any problems.

Pleasantly surprised that the owner, Colin, is really very proud of his place and wants all his guests to be happy during their stay. I arrived late in the evening and his email did say that he will be there to greet me. Made sure I was all good and dinner ordered before he took off.

It was just an overnight until I took up the next leg of my journey so the fact that I had to order in some fast food was not a problem. Most important is that they serve breakfast (sent to your room) which I can't do without.

Room was clean and tidy and the only complaint I had was the bed was a bit too big for the width. The TV stand is at the foot of the bed and it was careful going between the both. Stubbed my toe on the bed on the first pass so my fault really - but close... I'm a big guy and the bathroom was too tiny for me, but again, very clean and well appointed.

All in all I will stay here again if I have a layover in Antigua. Yes the taxis are expensive fro the short run between here and the airport and the take-out food is too, but that's Antigua...
Kudos to Colin for taking care of his guests the way a proprieter is expected.

Room Tip: If you are light sleeper, this not the place for you. It is practically on the runway - it's so...

The owner, Collin, was extremely friendly and helpful. A really lovely guy. Ideal airport location with balcony over-looking runway. Large, clean room. A simple pre-ordered breakfast of fruit/muffin/danish was good. Tea/coffee maker in room. Buses into St John's stop right outside (as they do the other way, 2-3 mins to airport). Only US$1 fare. No eating places nearby. Some people order pizzas to eat-in. We took a bus to Hemingway's restaurant in town (see other review)....but took a taxi back as walking around after dark in St John's is not recommended.

Room Tip: All seem very similar and quite large. Some have 1 double bed and some have 2 doubles (we switched a...

We get more than we expected in Wind Chimes. It's nothing of a luxury resort, but perfect for those who are not pure visitors like us. The staff there are frendly, not that talktive but very helpful whenever you need. Rooms are new and clean, some with full kitchen aplliences, with which you can easily cook inside the room. The location is close to the airport and a bit far away from downtown and beaches, but believe me, it's not a big issue since you can always meet friendly taxi drivers. Remember to take down their numbers and they would be very glad to drive you during your whole stay in Antigua. Our driver Lindy (7250508) and his sister Yvonne (7232829) and brother (havn't got the name and number yet) are very responsible and give us fair prices. If you are not renting a car here, getting a good driver may be the best way to discover Antigua.

We (me,wife and her sis) stopped here overnight while in transit to BVI. Just about 5 minutes and a very cheap taxi ride from the airport. Room was clean, comfortable and cool. View of the runway and planes provided entertainment but noise from planes was no problem at all. Reception staff were just great and fixed taxi back to airport and ordered take away evening meal and meeting Colin (a lovely gentleman) was a bonus. We would have no hesitation at all booking again.

This small family owned hotel was recommended by another property owner on the island who was booked for the date we needed. Collin responded to (email and one phone call) questions quickly and efficiently. When we arrived in the pouring rain he and his staff greeted our taxi with umbrellas. Check-in was easy and quick (we prepaid) and after a few minutes' chat he helped us with our luggage to our room (one level up and in the back of the building).

The room was spotlessly clean and air conditioned. We were able to connect to the internet. We took advantage of an airport restaurant's delivery option and stayed in to avoid the rain which continued through the night and the following morning.

A simple continental breakfast (we made our selections on check-in) was delivered to our room in the morning. At our request he requested a taxi which picked us up on time. It was air conditioned and spacious (a van).

The only down side to our stay was the loud noise of airplanes landing and taking off which we were aware of when we booked, a loud party and dogs barking at night which were unexpected and likely unavoidable.

Compared to the many other options we considered on the island the location was excellent for us (we need to be in St. Johns the day after our arrival), the price point, service and hotel itself were worthwhile. Other hotels quoted hundreds and thousands of dollars for "luxury" accommodations which sometimes didn't include air conditioning, had dozens of Terrible reviews or in more than one case were an hour's drive away. Given the scarcity of taxis when we arrived (we had to share a taxi with 6 other travelers) we were happy to have picked an easy to reach hotel.
