We have just returned from an amazing half term break at Jolly Harbour Villas in Antigua.
Needless to say the weather was fantastic (especially after leaving a very rainy London), the beach was the best I have visited in the Caribbean, and the accommodation was just perfect for our needs.
As a family of four, we have often endured cramped rooms in all inclusive Caribbean resorts, so to find a fully equipped villa only 5 minutes from the beach was a huge relief.
We partly self catered ( the resort has a great supermarket), and partly used the restaurants on the Resort. The Dogwatch and Mellinis were firm favourites although I wouldn't hurry back to eat at the BBR. The Pool Bar there is fine for a quick lunchtime drink, but the food there is just an 'add on ' rather than a speciality!
As we booked a way in advance I have been keeping an eye on all Jolly Harbour reports on Tripadvisor, and cannot understand the negative reports. We were fortunate to be allocated a 'South Finger' property, close to the beach and a short walk ( leisurely 10 minutes) to the shops and restaurants, and we will particularly make a request to return to the same area again. The resort is very large, and has a 'village' feel to it, and some areas of the 'North Finger' can seem a way away from everything, and still have some building work going on, so maybe this was some peoples complaint.
We however, have no complaints and can't wait to go back!
