We stayed at beautiful Bluewaters in early September for a week and from the moment of our arrival we were treated like royalty by the staff. They were courteous and attentive and nothing was too much for them, from information on the island tours to cool flannels on the beach.

I believe we visited at quite a quiet time for the hotel but nonethe less enjoyed all the facilities the hotel had to offer. The pre-dinner cocktails in the bar whilst listening to the piano and the varied meals in either restaurant made our all inclusive deal fantastic value.

Bluewaters is a little bit of paradise and it was an extremely sad day when we had to leave.

My husband and I spent the second week of our honeymoon at Blue Waters and we were very impressed.

The hotel is about 20 minutes away from the airport and we were welcomed to the hotel with a glass of punch and a cold towel before being shown to our room. My husband and I have been keeping a close eye on Tripadvisor over the past few months, and on recommendations from the website we requested a room in the 100 block. It was well worth it as the view was stunning – the balcony seemed to be directly over the sea. The room was a nice size with a huge bed and the bathroom was quite big. The rooms were cleaned every day and we got fresh towels every day too.

The staff were all very friendly and the actual complex is lovely – the gardens are very well cared for and the views were great. We tended to stay near the main pool but there were 3 to choose from. It is difficult for us to comment on the beach, as strong winds meant that the sea was very churned up – we couldn’t even do any water sports for the first four days as the sea was so rough.

We did the Circumnaviagation Tour which was great – a big catamaran took us on a trip around the whole island, with a chance to snorkel and swim before lunch. We also hired a taxi driver to take us Shirley Heights and Nelson’s Dockyard – it is well worth doing something like that in order to see the real Antigua. Shopaholics should head towards Heritage Quay, where there are a huge selection of shops with duty free prices (including several jewellery shops).

We were on a breakfast only plan and we were glad we did this. Breakfast was OK (a big buffet) and the hotel also includes afternoon tea with the package…but we thought that the restaurants on site didn’t offer a great deal of choice and we didn’t want to be institutionalised by staying in one place all the time. Plus, it was much nicer to be able to get in a taxi and experience different restaurants and areas. We would recommend going to The Beach and Coconut Grove in Dickensen Bay (The Beach is great for a casual lunch and Coconut Grove for a romantic dinner)…and for a truly romantic (albeit expensive) experience, book the dinner at the end of the Jetty at Carlisle Bay ($140 per person but it was well worth the experience).

Personally, we would recommend that you stay away from Castaways restaurant which is based in Jolly Harbour, as well as the Casino there…we had a horrible meal at Castaways (and the restaurant is actually nothing special) and the casino was dead – the one in St Johns had a much better atmosphere).

All in all, we would definitely recommend Blue Waters in Antigua for a relaxing holiday.

We have just returned from a marvellous holiday at Blue Waters. Having visited other Caribbean islands we did not know what to expect. From the moment we arrived at Reception we felt at home. The bedrooms large, clean, well equipped and wonderful view of the bay. (Oceanfront rooms). Service excellent in all areas, food in both restaurants very good, gardens beautifully kept, plenty of loungers around the pools. Can not fault it at all. Could not have wished for anything better. We live from tourism on a Meditteranean island and wish some of the 5 star hotels on our island gave the same service as Blue Waters. Congratulations to the management and all the staff. Would highly recommend to anyone. Have already booked for next year!

Having just returned from 13 nights with my wife I felt moved for the first time in my life to write a review. We stayed in a deluxe beachfront room which was spacious, very comfortable with comprehensive amenities. The friendliness and willingness of staff was outstanding. The food was superb and menus varied daily. The spacious gardens are tenderly manicured, the whole setting is beautiful. Absolutely ideal for a peaceful relaxing holiday. Management are involved and very approachable. A luxury, caring hotel.
