We vacationed at Blue Waters in the beginning of March, it was a nice and relaxing trip. We were a little worried about the weather forecast prior to our departure, as it predicted rain and clouds for the entire week! But that was not the case at all! It did shower and cloud a few times during the week, but in 10 minute spurts and it immediately cleared up and returned to sunny, warm skies.
The beach was nice, but small. We found ourselves waking up early to run down and save ourselves a spot on the beach. We sat by the main pool a few days, which was a nice change and not in such high demand as the beach. The water was clear, but as other posts indicate, the sand is very fine and kicks up very easily to create a cloudiness in the water. I still found it enjoyable, it was warm, a beautiful aqua blue with some nice small waves.
Food was decent, Vivyeans is the nicer of the two restaurants. Very cozy and romantic. We went to an offsite restaurant one evening, The Cove. The food was good, but the service was a bit slow. The Blue Waters staff is very friendly, but a bit slow. Our room was nice, a bit small, but the view made up for it. All of the rooms have ocean views, so you really can't go wrong. But I did think the maid service could of been a bit more meticulous considering the room rate charge.
We traveled into St. John one afternoon to shop, it was a huge disappointment. The town is small and a bit sketchy in some areas. Just be mindful to stay with the crowds and not to venture down the side streets and alleys. Our taxi driver dropped us off and returned two hours later to pick us up, round trip cost approx. $24 US. We did take a boat trip around the island another day, which I would highly recommend. Wadahli was the boat co., very friendly crew and it was a nice way to see the entire island from the water, do a little snorkeling, etc.
All in all, a nice trip. Its a very quiet resort, which we enjoy, perfect to just sit in the sun and read a good book.
