We have just returned from our stay at Blue Waters in the Caribbean. This hotel is moderately sized and this gives the staff the opportunity to attend to details and pamper its' guests. We adored our junior suite facing the water and the food in both restuarants was outstanding. The beaches were equipped with comfortable lounges and ample shade, if needed. The water is a mix of the Caribbean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean which provides
a beautiful background for the well tended gardens, gazebos and three pools. If peace and quiet are important to you, this hotel provides that. However, there many chances for outings, exercise, evening entertainment and shopping in nearby St. John. About 90% of the other guests were British, so there is a decidedly British atmosphere. We have visited ten islands in the Caribbean and this was, by far, the most enjoyable trip of them all. We will defintely be returning.

Spent a week here on our honeymoon (and another week at the Inn at English Harbour). The hotel is generally excellent with a beautiful beach, large, clean rooms and friendly staff. The hotel grounds are beautiful and very well maintained.

Re: The review of June 16, 2005 with complaints about the rooms - we stayed in room 303 and had no complaints - large, clean room (with working a/c)

Its not a complaint about the hotel, but I suspect if I had stayed a second week I might have started to feel a little restless as there is nothing within walking distance of the resort. I had been expecting this however and it probably say's more about me than the hotel.

All in all a fantastic holiday

PS - Its a fantastic place to learn to sail (with a very safe, consistent wind)

We went to Blue Waters for a day visit whilst staying in Antigua last October to see if it was a suitable venue for our wedding in May 2005.
We descided straight away that this was the place.
We had a wonderful time at Blue waters.
The wedding co-ordinator Cindie Joseph was a true professional and made sure our day was perfect.
The hotel was very good but the reception staff had had a charisma bypass
and are in need of some training.
Our room in the 200 block was ok but not as good as the 100 block so if you go insist on a 100 block room.
The food was excellent and it was good to be served drinks in the proper glass which is not the case in some all inclusive hotels in the Caribbean.
Some dissapointments.
Vyviens restaurant was listed as being for adult only dining but this rule was not adhered to as we encountered children dining in there on more than one occasion on our holiday.
The Spa is definately in need of some attention and the staff are only ordinary.
There was always sufficent sun loungers and there was no need to get up early to put towels on them as there were few German guests around.
The water sports were ok and you have to try the hobby cats, easy to handle once taught.
Entertainment was ok but they would insist in having a break from playing just when people were ready to dance.
On the whole a very good hotel and one to visit.
a tip if getting married, dont leave it till the last minute to obtain you DVD and wedding photos as ours didn't arrive until we were ready to leave the hotel, and when we wanted to view the DVD to ensure it was ok it became a major operation for the hotel staff. They were scurrying around trying to find a DVD player that worked.

We have just returned from Antigua after spending 2 weeks at Blue Waters on our honeymoon. We did a lot of research and read a lot of reviews before deciding on this hotel, and boy am I glad we did! We heard bad reviews from other couples staying at other hotels on the island and didn't have the heart to tell them about how excellent Blue Waters is.

After spending quite some time at the airport getting through passport control (please note you need to fill in a white immigration form and pink form before getting any further) we got the cases straight away. The wait for the taxi was very hot but it gets you into the laid back way of life and we weren't bothered about waiting. The quick drive to the hotel took us past some private houses and then we arrived at Blue Waters. We were welcomed with rum or fruit punch which was gladly accepted and sat down to fill a form in. We were then shown to our room and round the hotel by the concierge and he took the bags upstairs to our Deluxe Beachfront room. We were in block 600 which overlooks the small beach and the gazebo (for weddings). The room was clean and well kept, plenty of space with 2 wardrobes and a well stocked mini bar. The air conditioning was great and remained on for 2 weeks.

Every evening the maid came round to turn back the bed cover and deliver a daily sheet with information about the following day activities and menu for the Palm restaurant. Breakfast was excellent with a good choice of hot and cold food to start the day. I was glad to see the standards were high regarding keeping the food hot and covered and eggs were cooked on request. We tended to eat our lunch at the pool bar as the breakfast was so filling. This offered toasted sandwiches and baguettes both served with chips. The Palm restaurant offered more selection but tended to be bigger meals. We took the opportunity to have a picnic ordered for when we explored the island which was handy and was provided as part of the all inc package in a large cool bag. At some point during the day you have to book which restaurant you wish to dine in. This was never a problem and just means that no-one is disappointed and gets the best quality service.

The food in the hotel was excellent! We can be quite picky at times but we enjoyed every meal we had. The Palm restaurant offers a different menu every night with a BBQ on Monday and a Caribbean buffet on Saturday (I think). The choice was excellent with a choice of meats, fish or vegetarian every night. The service was also excellent with wine and water being topped up continuously. Vyviens was also excellent with the menu changing on Mondays and Thursdays. Couldn’t fault the food or service.

The hotel grounds are well kept with gardeners working all day to keep up the standards. There are 3 pools, 2 with bars and one without. The one on the right towards the wedding gazebo was always empty and we had it to ourselves most of the time. This pool has the coolest water as the one with the decking gets quite warm. The beaches are also excellent, one being very quite and again had it to ourselves. As the hotel is not huge (like others) there is always somewhere you cna go to be on your own if you want to. It was very relaxing and a great place to chill out.

Overall, I rated this hotel and 5* and could not fault anything. All the taxi drivers also said it was one of the best on the island. I want to thank all the staff as they made it the best honeymoon anyone could ask for by treating us so well. Drinks flowed and always with a smile.

We would definitely recommend this hotel to anyone, you’ll regret it if you stay anywhere else!

Just returned from Blue Waters after having spent 3 weeks getting married and having our honeymoon there. So I feel I am well placed to give a fair review of the resort

Rooms: It’s true that some of the rooms are tired looking, but ours was clean, roomy and sufficient for our needs, we had various friends staying in the new block 100 and they are the better rooms, but also a lot smaller than an old room. Also some friends stayed in a suite which was truly stunning.

Food : Palm restaurant was good with the food being fresh and tasty. Vivyns is very good indeed and also a very nice environment to dine in.

Wedding: This is arguably the best part of the hotel and can’t imagine a better location and setting for having a beach wedding. It was everything that we could have wanted it to be and more, you have to experience it to believe it.

Pools/ Beach: because of the number of rooms being only 77 you never had to worry about finding somewhere to relax and feel too crowded. Although the main pool does seem like it needs to be renovated.

Staff : Very good and friendly and were truly excellent with our 9 month old daughter. (Carolyn deserves a special mention).

Finally to give you a good indication about the place we had an extremely wealthy friend staying at the resort with us, he has travelled and stayed at the finest place the world has to offer and travles everywhere first class! and he just loved the place and plans to go back there!
