We booked Blue Waters to get married as the wedding gazebo is located away from the complex so it is more personal and intimate. We did not have family so the wedding was absolutely amazing and perfect. Cindy the wedding co-ordinator was spot on. Everything apart from the time of the wedding was perfect, flowers - wedding cake - timing - steel drums - ceremony - photos - video were all perfect. I would recommend it to anyone thinking about getting married abroad. They only have one wedding a day so the day is yours.

The room was lovely, we had partial ocean view as there were trees blocking the view, but as you could hear the waves on the beach it was lovely and calming. We were quite close to the bandstand so on the odd night that we wanted to get to sleep a little earlier to get up early the next day, this was a bit of a problem and quite annoying as they went on till just passed midnight. I guess it depends on how much sleep you need.

The All Inclusive deal was amazing as we dring Jack Daniels and even this was on the menu so we couldnt get enough. The cocktails were also great. Although on a busy evening in the lounge service was a little slow, if you manged to befriend a member of staff as we did, you are able to give a wink and the usual will be on its way.

We met some amazing people there, one couple got married a few days after us and asked us to be their witnesses which was great, the other two couples were brilliant too, we all got on so well and were able to have dinner together now and then. We still keep in touch - Neil & Heike.

The most disappointing thing for us and one of the other couples is the way the Manager treated us.
We had our Camcorder and husbands wedding tie pin stolen from our room. We put our suspicions to the Manager who treated us like common English trash. Although he is English too. We were made to feel that we were trying to pull a fast one. But we know what happened and feel very upset that we were not compensated in anyway as there was footage of our honeymoon and wedding on the camera and it has now been taken from us. Because of this we would not return, which is a shame as the place is beautiful.

We also was present when the Manager accused a couple we had met of being loud and abusive in a restaurant. The Manager had got the wrong person but did not apologise when he realised he had made a mistake. For this we would never return.

All staff are lovely but dont trust the house maids, DO NOT leave valuables on view. The doors to the rooms are kept open when cleaners are in and anyone could just pop in and grab things on view. Pools are lovely in the early afternoon, always able to get a bed by the pool.

I would say it is more built for Americans, they seem to get better treatment than the British. Once couple were upgraded to the Bungalow just because they pushed for it, they were American. We had to beg to just go look at it. Which is recommended cos its beautiful.

Visits to St Johns is ok, not much there really, once you have been once or twice there is not much else to do so if you want a relaxing holiday this is the place to go.

We visited during the Annual Yacht week April 2004. There were parties at Dickensons Bay on the beach which was great too.

BEST BITS:
Our wedding day - Perfection
The friends we made
The drinks (All Inclusive)
Quiet location

WORST BITS:
Management
Theft of camcorder
Being made to feel like lower class citizens

Just returned from a week in Blue Waters with my wife and 19 month old daughter. Everything was superb, the hotel, the location, the staff, the food. I would highly recommend it.

We had a hill-side junior suite which was excellent. Very spacious split level room, large lounge area on lower level, large bedroom space on upper level; Lovely spacious bathroom, with bath and seperate shower; large terrace/balcony with sun loungers and table. Plenty of space for a couple with children.

We initially booked b&B but upgraded to AI once in the resort - at $85US is was much cheaper than thru our operator, and well worth it. They didn't charge us a penny for our little girl despite the fact they provided her with all of her meals, snacks, drinks and milk and fruit juice for the room. Even room service is included (you just pay a $5 delivery charge). I have stayed AI at several hotels in the Caribbean and this was by far the best value.

The food was excellent. We ate exclusively in the Palm Restaurant as it was open air and our little one was not allowed in the Adults only Viviens. I have no complaints at all, the service was fantastic, Lucia and Burnadette the Palm's Restaurant managers were brilliant. They made us all feel very welcome.

Paulette the Duty Manager was brilliant, she always made a point of asking if everything was ok, and delivered on any promises she made.

The staff were lovely. Friendly, helpful and always there with a smile and a chat.

The whole set up has a lovely relaxed feeling about it, and this rubs off on the guests (well most :-)))

This was our first beach holiday with the little one and the Hotel and staff made our stay perfect - we will definately return soon.

We stayed at Blue Waters for two days only - on the way coming and going to Barbuda. Overall, I would say that if you have children, need convenience, and don't care about refinements or amenities, Blue Waters will suit you. The beach is very, very small and there is almost no way to access any other "natural" setting on the island unless you leave the resort, so you will need to spend your time either in your room or on the paved hotel grounds with hundreds of other people. The service varied from person to person - one of the front desk girls was as efficient as a Ritz concierge, while an attendant in the bathroom literally shoved me away from the sink so she could sweep where I was standing. The other guests were - almost exclusively - English holiday-makers on extended stays. I assume they were getting a slightly better deal, as our $500 a night seemed awfully overpriced. Be sure to ask for a room away from the main walkways unless noise and the invasion of privacy does not bother you. Beds very comfortable - the highlight of the stay. Meals OK - not better.

The Blue Waters Hotel was fabulous. Staff friendly and helpful, setting and grounds super and we had no complaints at all. We stayed on an all inclusive basis which was excellent value for money. The food is superb particularly in the air conditioned comfort of Vivyans restaurant.
The only disappointment was that the beach is small but immaculately clean and the sea was not as clear as you would expect just there. Maybe it varies at different times of year. We went very end of May and the weather was perfect.

It was easy deciding on the perfect venue for our wedding in paradise, as a colleague who had spent many years holidaying in Antigua, informed me that Blue Water's was the best resort that she ever had the privilege to stay at.

Nevertheless, as our wedding was to be one of the most important days of our lives we did as much research as we could about the amenites available at the hotel beforehand, and found a number of good websites, and obtained the Blue Waters CD rom from our tour operator.

However, what the CD rom, and websites couldn't do, was place enough emphasis on how special the staff at the hotel really are. The staff are truely a class act, and really gave meaning to the term customer care. Nothing was too much trouble, and the staff went out of their way to cater for all our requests, with a smile and saying either... No Problem... or... Certainly.

Our wedding, took place at the Gazebo alongside the beach area, which was beautifully decorated with local flowers and palm plants for the occasion. It was very important to us that our ceremony was a joyous and spiritual occasion and that our family and friends could play a part in the service. Our various requests, some of which were very unusual were all accommodated by the hotel, and the hotel's wedding coordinator was nothing short of professional.

30 guests attended our wedding, which was quite a large number for a relatively small hotel, and the staff's dedication and commitment to making our day special could make one believe that we were the only guests at the hotel that day.

The Gazebo is the perfect setting for a wedding. Our ceremony took place at mid day which meant that we were able to capture lots of special camera moments before dusk.

The wedding was followed by a reception at the Viviens restaurant. We were able to create our own menu, and the Chef catered for our every need.

As our guests had travelled from all over the world to share our day with us, we decided to also have an evening poolside BBQ. I must admit when the BBQ idea was first mentioned to us by the wedding coordinator, we had a preconceived idea that it would be like a BBQ at home, i.e. burnt sausages, and a bread roll complimented by guests getting wet by the constant splashing.... How wrong could we be... The poolside was reserved for our private use, and 2 chefs were on hand to serve us an abundance of food, all cooked to our liking, ranging from ribs, steaks, fried fish, rice, corn on the cob, salads a variety of puddings and cakes, it was delicious, and left us all licking our lips with sheer delight and satisfaction.

With regard to the rooms, our first few days were spent in the Deluxe Beach front rooms which were comfortable, with a fantastic view of the sea, although we were slightly disappointed by the size of the room.

After the wedding we were upgraded to the Caribbean suite which really was something else with its double jacuzzi, enormous balcony, plasma TV screen, CD player, private patio area... just right for romance.

Our stay at Blue Waters was magical, and this is a hotel which we highly recommend. It is perfect for weddings amd honeymoon's, as the grounds and scenary are simply stunning. It is also great for couples, singles or young families, but to be fair there is not too much in the way of entertainment for teenagers.

Finally, if you want to ensure that your wedding day is as individual as you are, stay at the hotel for a few days before your wedding, meet the Wedding Coordinator, familiarise yourself with the grounds and all the photo opportunities, and most of all relax and have a great time.
