“Nice rooms, but very limited food options”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 12, 2013

My wife and I stayed at the Blue Waters for two weeks, in late July. We had one of the Cove Suites rooms, which was very nice - perfect condition, a wonderful view of the sea, and a semi-private pool we had to share with just a handful of other rooms. The hotel wasn't very busy at the time we went, so it was quiet and very relaxing.

If I could change one thing about the Blue Waters, it would be the food options. There are only three restaurants on the property, only two of which were open on any given day. My wife is pescetarian (vegetarian + fish), so she could eat pretty much only one or two dishes in each restaurant. We tried driving to St. John's for dinner, but we didn't feel very safe there, so we pretty much stayed on the property. The chef of one of the restaurants offered to cook a special meal for my wife once, but still - it was less than ideal.

If you have no dietary restrictions and are looking for a quiet, relaxing vacation in a beautiful place, the Blue Waters may be for you. If you, or someone in your party, doesn't eat meat, you may want to consider other options.

Room Tip: Do consider the Cove Suites. It wasn't a lot more expensive when we went, and the rooms are beau...

Was here for my honeymoon and had the best time ever. Very nice and courteous staff. The food was excellent, the weather was great, the rooms were sizable and was always clean. Overall I enjoyed our stay. The only thing I would have done differently was pay for an all inclusive trip, will still visit again for sure.

We were recommended this hotel for our Honeymoon by my parents who attended some years ago. We were not disappointed.

We arrived and were greeted by Andy the Manager, then the food & Beverage Manager then finally Nian the tours co-ordinator, Whilst all this was happening we received an ice cold towel and a Rum & Fruit Punch. Suddenly we forgot about the long journey.

Our cases were taken to our room by Seaford who gave us a guided tour on the way and advised us the only rule at the hotel was you get fined if you are all inclusive and dont have a drink in your hand (he was joking, but you will always have a drink in your hand)!

Our Beachfront room was extremely nice and could not be faulted. Very big and comfortable bed, good shower and nice balcony terrace outside.

There are three restaurants on site and differ in style.

The Palm is the main eating area where Breakfast and Lunch is taken and evening meals available here too.
The cove is fine dining restaurant with stunning views (you would pay a fortune in England for food in this style restaurant).
Bartleys is an indoor restaurant with an Italian menu.

The food in all three of these restaurants is exceptional and if there is ever a day where you dont like anything on any menu you only have to ask and they will do you pretty much anything you want.

Our favourite restaurant was definately Bartleys, however unfortunately due to the hotel being extremely quiet was only open once during our 10 night stay.
We liked this due to a few reasons, the air conditioning was great and meant we were extra comfortable whilst eating, however the other reason brings us to our major gripe with our stay.

The palm has two stray Cats and the cove has one that are constantly around looking for food. This would be fine i suppose if you like cats but we certainly dont and we were most uncomfortable whilst eating. We even watched one cat steal and eat an entire sandwich from a poolside table one day.

When mentioned to the staff and the manager we were advised they are the neighbours and they have tried everything to get rid of them, Although on occasions they made a token effort to usher them away when near us there was definately no concerted effort to get rid of them.
With Bartleys being indoor this was not a problem.

The pool areas and the beaches are excellent but the main feature of this hotel is as reported so many times the staff. All staff are so friendly and genuinely pleased to see you. They do indeed ensure they know your name within a couple of days and management are always visible should you need anything.

Special mentions to some staff though - Tramaine, you made our daytimes fun and your service bringing drinks to us at all times was much appreciated - Hope you enjoy the book.

Wingrove - This guy is an absolute legend! If you meet him you will understand why.

Pearl - Your cocktails and fruit drinks were amazing and we loved talking to you at night

Raoul - Excellent and very friendly

Nian - Organised us a great private tour of the island and all round nice guy.

Fiona- Excellent Massages in the the wonderful Spa

A little more entertainment would of been nice, but was understandable due to the low occupancy at the time of our visit.

We will be back at some point in future, just hope the cats are gone!!

Room Tip: Beachfront rooms have stunning views

We upgraded to the The Cove Suites, the view was fantastic.

I have no complaints regarding Bluewaters and would recommend this hotel time and time again.

The rooms are spacious and clean, the bed was huge and like sleeping on a cloud. You have to love a hotel which has a turn down service.

The resort was idyllic with a sandy beach and many pools to choose from.

The staff were friendly throughout the hotel. We hired ''Mango Man'' as our driver he was excellent driving us around the island as and when showing us the sights.

Andy the General Manager introduced himself to us on arrival saying ''he was not one of those GM's that you see on day one, that he'd look after us throughout our stay as we were important guests to him''... Well he made no effort to chat to us after arrival. This was fine however it did make us chuckle.

I'm not normally a fan of all inclusive buffets however the food was really good, its defiantly worth going to The Cove Restaurant as the food their was outstanding along with a beautiful setting. The only downside to the food is that you can not order snacks around the bar, you have to go into the restaurant to eat at all times (unless you pay for room service).

I highly recommend working your way through the cocktail list and enjoying the local rum punch.

If you're looking for a little piece of paradise then this is your place!

Enjoy the rum punch :-)

This was a return visit which proved to be just as good if not better second time around. As ever the staff were attentive without being overpowering. We appreciated the efforts made by Andy and Vincent to ensure that everything was to our liking. The Cove Suites are beautiful with stunning views. Our accommodation was spotless and the kitchen and bathrooms were well stocked. The food were of a consistently high standard, but was particularly good in the Cove where the staff are also terrific. The number of swimming pools and the availability of water sports are big plus points. The new spa is a big improvement on the old and is well located on the fringe of the resort. We made several requests over and above the norm which were delivered with great charm and good humour by Gwen and Karen.

This is the second time my husband and I stayed @ Blue Waters. We had a wonderful time this past May! We could not have asked for better service or food. We were again welcomed back to the Blue Waters' family. We had so much much this trip thanks to the staff and fellow travelers. We stayed @ Cove Suites. The room is a great size and the view is great! We are hoping to go back next year. It is a great resort to stay at and relax . We would not stay anywhere else in Antigua.

The stay was unbelievable. Would do it all over again, there is nothing not to love about Bluewaters hotel the staff, food, scenery and many more. All inclusive is the way to go. I will be visiting again this time with the kids. It was like home away from home. All the guest knew each other and greeted each other, it was like one big family. The palm restaurant was my favorite buffet style meals. The cove restaurant's food was nice but its more formal. The water sports staff was friendly,it was like a family you never knew

Room Tip: My room tip is don't stay in your room too much friendly people to meet the staff was awesome an...
