There are so many lovely hotels in the Carribean, but unfortunately this is not one.

The staff are rude, unwelcoming and you get the disctinct feel they would prefer to be elsewhere. The gardens are kept well, but the buildings looks tired.

On top of this it's over-priced, so you might as well go and spend the same amount of money on a better quality hotel.

The only saving grace are the Cove Suites, they are new and separate from the rest of the hotel - shame the restaurant wasn't open all the time!

“A magical paradise”

Blue Waters Hotel

May 25, 2008

I went to Bluewaters with my boyfirend for a relaxing break. If you are looking for somewhere with a breathtaking view, romantic setting, delicious food and amazing cocktails, then this is the place to go.

The hotel has everything you could need with gorgeous sea-view rooms, three pools (so kids can play in one whilst adults can be by the quiet pool), great water-sports facilities, stunning beach and a crystal clear sea. The staff were really friendly and we had an incredible experience.

The new Cove Suites had just been done whilst we were there. They looked very luxurious and i and i will definitely be going back to try them out.

I would recommend this hotel to everyone - whether they have kids or just want a romantic break.

We stayed in the main hotel which was great. The rooms have everything you need, and ours had a great view of the sea.

The hotel has its own beach which is lovely and secluded. The bar staff come down with drinks and cold face towels to cool you down.

There are some Hoby Cat boats and canoes, snorkells and masks you can use for free, and the watersports boys can arrange you to be picked up in a speedboat to waterski in the next door bay - which is really cool.

There are also 3 swimming pools to chose from, and loads of different sun decks to sun bathe on.

There are also 2 pool bars that make fantastic cocktails - really delicious.

We tried the cove restaurant - which was high end and a real gastro experience.

Next time we'd like to stay in the "cove suites" as they looked amazing.

“Blue Waters Hopeless Hotel”

Blue Waters Hotel

We have just come back from spending 2 nights at Blue Waters to break up our journey from St Barths to UK. I was looking forward to this time spent lounging and enjoying not having to do much just enjoying what should feel like a very exclusive hotel given the cost. We were very disappointed.
We experienced mainly friendly staff and thankfully been upgraded (i think due to hotel being quite empty) and that room was very nice although in another building 'the cove' which was quite far from main hotel. If we were given the room which was paid for maybe I would have been disappointed in that area also.. Anyway their was a good selection of awful food. Bad quality and bad taste. Birds helping themselves to what they liked best and ants crawling on the melon(i' m a veggie!). We opted to upgrage to go all inclusive before seeing the food so that was stupid of us. Please note when going all inclusive bottled water is not included which is probably what you will desire given the heat and if you enjoy alcohol then even more so! There were 3 places to eat tried 2-one which required no children so we had a member of staff sit for us was supposed to be 'fine dining' well i wouldn't have named it in that category! My partner chose to pay extra for lobster feeling it would be a great place to get this kind of meal and was sadden by the way it was over cooked, half the animal and a small one at that.
Our son(the only child in hotel) broke a glass in the bedroom and despite numerous telephone calls it took over an hour to get someone to come to sweep it up.
Drugs are also offered to customers(including us-a young family) by members of staff should they want it-understanding that some people are hard up and look to gain extras on their wages perhaps dealing is not the best way to go about it.
Our stay for 2nights at the hotel(not including taxis and charges to leave)was $1200 without being charged for our 2year old,and for me, it was money down the drain.
Plus may I also say that whilst there was no problem for us to have space on the beach I would very much expect when the hotel is full you would be lucky to get a patch of sand.
Sorry to sound so negative but all i can say is what we experienced and make you aware before booking.

“Very Nice, very Quiet”

Blue Waters Hotel

My wife and I just got back from Blue Waters and found it to be pretty much in line with what other reviews are stating, so I will try to be brief.

Transport to the resort from the Airport was a breeze as was going through customs. Check in was equally as swift and the cold towels and rum punch provided upon arrival is a nice touch.

We stayed in a deluxe beachfront that was a bit smaller than I anticipated, but nonetheless serviceable. Maid service was efficient, albeit sporadic and slow. Don’t expect to have your room cleaned until late afternoon- which is usually when we wanted to rest before dinner.

The grounds are wonderfully maintained as are all of the common areas.

The food was very good to excellent and, as others have stated, the Cove has the best food. I ordered the “5 Spice Chinese Mahi” and it was absolutely delicious. The only negative I have about the Cove is that the “best” seating is along the edge of the cliff which puts you in a direct path with the halogen lights above. It really felt like a police interrogation and that puts a damper on the overall ambience. Service at the Cove was impeccable.

We took the shopping excursion into St. Johns and did not find any real bargains. Some of the vendors can also be quite pushy. I was ready to leave after 1 hour but we had to wait another 2 hours for the taxi to come. We had a similar experience on the trip to Shirley Heights which is a big tourist attraction. Shirley Heights is at the highest peak of the Island and offers some really breathtaking views. But, after about and hour, we and a few other couples that were on the bus with us were ready to leave. Nice view and all, but there really isn’t anything more to see other than waiting for the sunset. There is food (didn’t try any; didn’t like the way it looked) and drinks for purchase. Taxi fare is $22 U.S. per person. Admission is $8.00. Couple of comments here…

The resort tells you that the fare is payable upon return to the resort. However, the driver demanded full payment upon arrival at Shirley Heights. We asked if he was going to wait for us. He indicated he “might” wait, might leave and return for us at 7 p.m. (gee, uh, o.k.). Not knowing if he was truly “trustworthy” to return for us especially now that he had our money left us and another couple a bit concerned. I made sure to take his picture and a picture of his license plate number in case he proved to be untrustworthy. Good news is that he was trustworthy and the ride to and from Shirley Heights ended without and incident.

Overall, we had a very nice time. I will concur with others and state that Blue Waters is not for those seeking a lot of action.
