“Lovely hotel”

Blue Waters

Apr 30, 2008

We stayed at Blue Waters for a week in March

The hotel is only 10 mins drive from airport so no long transfer on arrival.

The gardens and pools are beautifully kept. The beach is smaller than some but pretty and was never crowded.

The staff were fantastic. From our welcome rum punch till we left, everyone was polite and helpful.

We stayed in a superior hillside room which was comfortable. Some of the other rooms obviously had good sea views and the cove suites look lovely.

We enjoyed our meals, and opted for all inclusive as the week went on which was good value we thought.

We loved the friendly atmosphere and left feeling relaxed and recharged. We have stayed in hotels all over the world and this si one of the best. Cant wait to go back.

“Lovely wedding”

Blue Waters

Apr 27, 2008

We spent 11 days in Blue Waters during November 2007 and loved our time there. The hotel and surroundings were beautiful, and just like the photos seen on the website.
We got married during our stay which I could not fault, the whole day was amazing and just what we hoped for, very relaxed and beautiful. We could not view our video till we returned but apart from the cheesy advertisements which was to be expected it was lovely. The photos were lovely to, but the album not to a high standard. We thouroughly enjoyed our day.
Reading previous reviews we expected the hotel to be quite at night but not as quite as it was. They had a steel band play most nights but the entertainment seems more aimed at the older guests. We are in our late twenties and I think there were only two other couples during our stay that looked around our age and they kept themselves to themselves.
I must warn that the salon is not the best, others may disagree but I had my hair done for the wedding day and was not impressed, the lady did not seem overly interested in what I actually wanted and sour faced comes to mind.
All around the hotel is beautiful the staff mainly are freindly, the rooms are lovely and clean and the scenery picturesque. We would contemplate going back for an anniversary but maybe when we are much older and fit in with the cleintele more. If you want somewhere just to recharge your batteries and do absolutely nothing this is the place to go.

“Lovely hotel but wouldn't rush back”

Blue Waters

Bluewaters is a very pretty hotel with lovely tropical gardens. The Deluxe Beachfront rooms are comfortable and have great views but are not what i would classify as 'Deluxe'. The beach itself is quite small, however that said is used only by hotel guests. There are also no toilets on or near the beach - you have to walk back through the hotel reception.

The quality of the food is a bit hit and miss - some nights it was very good but on occasions about average. Their are two restaurants included in the 'All Inclusive' package - Palms and Vyviens. The menu at Palms changes nightly but choices were not always available; the menu at Vyviens is the same every night. You can also dine at 'The Cove' for an extra $25.00 per person; this restaurant is far superior and serves spicy Asian style food in a lovely setting overlooking the sea. The service at this restaurant is much better too - it was a bit erratic and sometimes rather slow in the other two restaurants, especially at lunch and breakfast times. The hotel also serves afternoon tea but the sandwiches are pre-plated and unless you go early they taste rather stale.

“Lovely, very quiet place with a tiny beach”

Blue Waters

We have just returned from 7 days at Blue Waters with our 14 and 16 year old children. The resort is gorgeous and very lush. We found the staff to be very gracious with high standards to please. Our room was beach front and the view was probably the best we have ever had. The furnishings were new and very comfortable.

The beach was our only big disappointment. Though it is gorgeous and perfect for sailing and kayaking, you cannot walk on it as it is very short (maybe 50yds?). It also had a lot of sea weed in it so we did not spend much time in the water. The 3 pools are quite small, but spotless with good service.

We did not do the all inclusive plan and are very glad that we did not. The Palms has a great breakfast and 4pm tea time each afternoon. We did not enjoy the Palms dinner, but loved the Cove. It is not to be missed because of it's gorgeous setting (high on the cliffs, awesome sunsets) and wonderful service. We also took cabs ($10-15 USD) to Home and Coconut Grove. I highly recommend both, but cannot adequately praise the food and service at Home. It is located in the chef's former home and he describes each menu option to many of the guests. It is located on the outskirts of St. Johns and I am certain it is the best local, casual cuisine on the island.

For excursions, we did the Circumnavigation tour with Wadadli Cats and it was awesome!!! An unbelievable view of the entire island, with great food, music and people to boot! We also did the Rainforest Canopy Tour which was a blast for the kids.

We enjoyed our stay at Blue Waters and would probably return. If a long, strolling beach is a top priority you might want to look elsewhere.

“Complete Chill Out”

Together with my husband and 19 yr old son, we spent 7 days at Blue Waters in late March. When booking this resort we were concerned that our son may become bored, as most of the reviews seem to imply that there was little to do. But this was not the case, we spent our days on the beach, either just catching the sun, swimming, canoening or sailing. We all wanted to chill-out, and that is definitely what we got. It is not the liveliest of resorts, but the service is very good, the beach is small but sufficient for the amount of people it caters for. There is always plentiful of umbrellas around the pools, if we want an umbrella on the beach, you may have to get up at 7.00 a.m. to reserve a place by placing a towel over it.. The evenings were quiet, but we entertained ourselves playing cards. There were other families with small children but teenagers were few. However if one is looking for quality time with the famility without the distraction of loud music, Blue Waters is definitely the place.

Our only disapointment was the food. For a 4/5 star resort the food was low quality. We tried Vivien's restaurant, which service was outstanding, however extremely stuffy and awful food. From then onwards we stuck to Palms restaurant, which offered plentiful of salads.

The resort is very clean, the service is extremely good. Overall we had a good experience.
