We have just returned from 7 days at Blue Waters with our 14 and 16 year old children. The resort is gorgeous and very lush. We found the staff to be very gracious with high standards to please. Our room was beach front and the view was probably the best we have ever had. The furnishings were new and very comfortable.
The beach was our only big disappointment. Though it is gorgeous and perfect for sailing and kayaking, you cannot walk on it as it is very short (maybe 50yds?). It also had a lot of sea weed in it so we did not spend much time in the water. The 3 pools are quite small, but spotless with good service.
We did not do the all inclusive plan and are very glad that we did not. The Palms has a great breakfast and 4pm tea time each afternoon. We did not enjoy the Palms dinner, but loved the Cove. It is not to be missed because of it's gorgeous setting (high on the cliffs, awesome sunsets) and wonderful service. We also took cabs ($10-15 USD) to Home and Coconut Grove. I highly recommend both, but cannot adequately praise the food and service at Home. It is located in the chef's former home and he describes each menu option to many of the guests. It is located on the outskirts of St. Johns and I am certain it is the best local, casual cuisine on the island.
For excursions, we did the Circumnavigation tour with Wadadli Cats and it was awesome!!! An unbelievable view of the entire island, with great food, music and people to boot! We also did the Rainforest Canopy Tour which was a blast for the kids.
We enjoyed our stay at Blue Waters and would probably return. If a long, strolling beach is a top priority you might want to look elsewhere.
