This is a fantastic small quiet resort that will suit people looking for a real gettaway from everything and chill break. The Staff are very warm friendly and attentive, there main aim to ensure that you have all you need and that you enjoy your holiday. Special thanks to Neil ( Food and Beverages Manager) who looked after us in the evenings and to Bernadette who looked after us at breakfast, nothing was ever too much trouble. The food although small in choice was excellant and very well presented. The rooms were very clean and the sheets were changed on a regular basis. Clean towels were provided every day and the beach towels could be changed every day also.
The Beach although a public one was very private and cleaned every morning by the resort staff. The pool although small was very clean with comfortable wooden beds with cushions to lie on, there are no umbrellas though and very little shade, and it got very hot as the pool area was a real sun trap with not alot of breeze. There was two nights of entertainment per week one of which were the steel drums which were very very good.
You do need a car if you want to get out and about as the Taxis are expensive. We had a great time and would not hesitate to go back there again.

  • Liked — comfortable and clean
  • Disliked — brown water coming out of the taps
  • Tips/Secrets: — need a car to get around as resort away from town and buses and the local taxis are very expensive as you pay per person and not per car

This was our first time to Antigua and will probably be our last. Not because of the resort as it was fine enough, but because of the island itself. It is dirty. All the comments you have read about the bugs and roaches are true...very true. And all the comments about the "not so white towels" are true as well.
However, the resort can't be held liable for these problems as they are universal to the island. Every where we went we saw roaches...and not itty bitty north american ones I might add. And the island has problems with the water system which the government is too cheap to fix apparently. More than one native islander confirmed this. My advice! Go to Dominican Republic as it's a fraction of the price, the beaches are just as nice and it's practically the same as Antigua.
With that being said, if Antigua is on your "must go" list stay at coconut beach resort. It's far less expensive than the other resorts. The staff was great and the food was...alright. Defenetely upgrade to the oceanview room(worth every penny) and enjoy the very, very private beach that was our saving grace.

We recently stayed at the Cocount Beach Club with two of our friends for 16 nights. The location of the hotel is directly on a superb beach. Other reports stated that the beach is almost deserted - we can confirm that! No probs with sunbeds and they now have plently of sun shades. The weather was sometimes too windy for the beach but the area in front of the ground floor rooms is almost on the sand - so not really a problem. Some reports stated that they found the staff to be unfriendly and unhelpful - we found that to be absolutely true. Some members of staff were more concerned with watching the tv situated by the bar or texting their friends than serving drinks. The majority of waiting staff were unfriendly. We chose to eat at 8.30 (last orders for dinner 9.30). We felt, as we seemed to be the last 4 to eat, staff rushed us through our meal and on one occasion actually began to stack the tables up around us!! Having said that, the restaurant manager (the only member of management that seemed to be about) was very good and did sort this and other problems, mainly regarding food choices, out for us. Quality of food, especially the a la carte eveing meal (5 times weekly) is superb. Lunch buffet choice could be better. All in all, we would not go back to the Coconut Beach Club. If they sorted out their staff training it could be worth another visit!!!

For the price it is hard to beat. On my stay there were no children and the resort was never full, so it was great and easy to relax.

The staff were great and alway happy to chat and help out.

The dinner menu was limited but very good quality. Also there were not snacks available, only the set three meals a day. Options like ice cream would be great.

The rooms were basic but clean. The towels were clean but not whiter than white, which did not bother me but seems to be a comment made by many.

When we were there we did not enjoy the best weather and it is a little out of the way so if you want to see more of the island rent a car, it will be much cheaper than the trips.

I would go again, but i have just been on a holiday website which shows the resort have replaced the open wood structure for the bar and eating area to a concrete building, i hope this is an error and not the case because it does not fit in.

We went to the coconut beach club at the beginning of June. We didn't know what to expect as it was our first carribbean holiday and i can't explain how lovely it was! We got married there on the beach four days after arriving, the staff and wedding co-ordinator were absolutley brilliant. They asked what we wanted for the wedding and they got it! The bar and restaurant staff are all really friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurant was all faboulus and so indeed was the breakfasts. The beach was literally 10ft from our room which was wonderful to look at first thing in the morning! There are activities to do ie snorkeling or you can laze around the pool, or in the bar if you find it too hot!
The rooms are spacious especially the deluxe suites. They have everything you need in them and plenty of storage.
St Johns is also excellent for shopping, there are designer shops and a market. Plenty of places to wonder and relax.
If you are wanting a quiet relaxing holiday, then the coconut beach club is ideal, we are definately going back and we can't wait!
