We (8 of us) have just returned from spending 10 nights at the Coconut Beach Club and all I can say is WOW!

My partner and I decided to book our wedding in the Caribbean and we picked the Coconut Beach Club because there are no children under 12 and also there are only about 40 rooms which made the whole holiday really intimate.

The weather was perfect averaging around 33 degrees every day. Our room, on the 3rd floor, was lovely and spacious with a sky light which let in lots of light (the rooms on the 1st and 2nd floors are a lot darker). Every balcony has its own hammock, perfect for swinging in with a Pina Colada, and comfortable chairs to relax in. Each room also has a ceiling fan and an air conditioning unit, ours was a new unit which was extremely efficient. There was an adjoining door between us and our neighbours, the lock on the door did not work, but after reporting this to Reception it was fixed within the hour. I found all of the staff to be really helpful and friendly, especially David, Clifton and Craig who went out of their way to make our stay there extra special. Breakfast and lunch were buffet style (breakfast choice was a bit limited) with a la carte for dinner which was excellent every night. My Sister-in-law has a food intolerance and the Chef was so helpful, cooking separate meals for her if needed. There were no carrying of tables from the breakfast area to the dinner area as previously mentioned in some reports, the management have obviously purchased a few more!

The pool area has plenty of sun loungers and decking all around. The pool itself is quite small, but lovely and warm. The bar area is very good although once the hotel was full there were not enough chairs to go around. The cocktails were brilliant, try their Long Island Ice Tea. The beach was beautiful, and on quite a few occasions there were only about 10 people on it. The sea was not rough at all, only small waves. There were loads of mosquito’s in the evening at the bar area, so take plenty of repellent with you.

The wedding itself went perfectly, the wedding planner (Nolda) was wonderful, reassuring me that everything always goes to plan! We married under an arch on the beach outside the Wellbeing Hut, my flowers were beautiful and I couldn’t have asked for a better wedding day.

I would recommend this hotel to anyone wanting a completely relaxed holiday. There are no water sports on the beach and it’s about a 15 minute walk to the next beach where jet skis etc are available.

Do not be put off by negative reports of this hotel, we had a fantastic time and would go back tomorrow if we could!

We stayed at this hotel in March 2005 for two weeks. The weather was excellent, very sunny with temperatures in the mid 80's.

Accomodation:- We had a standard 1st floor room of a good size with a large balcony overlooking the beach. We were able to watch the cruise ships come and go ( they were never too close to cause a wake on the beach). The bathroom although dated was very clean and functional, with a good shower.

Restaurants:- Buffet breakfast and lunch. They now have a translucent screen to stop any breezes, we were never cold (maybe earlier in the year it is cooler). Dinner in the main open air restaurant was a la carte, of high standard, quality food. We are vegetarians and if there was no veggie option on, they were more than willing to accomodate us.

Hotel general:- All areas were clean and well maintained. We would class this as a high standard 3.5 star hotel, good value for money.

Service:- All the staff were very helpful and courtiuos, special mention to Chef Moses, Head waiter Clifton, Zauda on the bar and Anne Marie on reception.

All in all we would highly reccomend this hotel, do not be put off by some of the bad reviews.

My girlfriend & I stayed here in January, we opted for the Junior Suite (double bed, lounge area, kitchen & balcony with hammock), we were a little unsure after its renovation & 1 bad report in December. The hotel prices in Antigua are extremely high and the Coconut Beach Club were offering a good deal. I would class the hotel as a 3*, aspiring to a 4*. There are parts that are really good, and areas where work is really needed.

Accommodation;
The rooms were spacious, confortable & serviced efficiently. The bathrooms are a bit of a disappointment however - when renovations were done, they really should have sorted these out. The balcony is great, with a nice hammock & wooden chairs to relax in. Initially when we arrived, they were not able to allocate us a J/Suite, so we stayed one night in a standard room - it was very comfortable, but we did find the air con was very noisy. When we got moved, we noticed the J/Suite had a much newer & quieter a/c unit.

Dining;
Breakfast is served in a thatched restaurant right by the sea, unfortunately it does get very windy and sometimes, quite chilly, even in the middle of the day & sometimes your food got cold. The food was very good, although service could sometimes be a little slow & attitudes varied, although most of the staff were pleasant. My one bit gripe was that there was an abundance of flies - I know that you have to expect this in hot climates, but they really spoilt the nice presentation & quality of the food.
Dinner is served in the restaurant by the pool, the food is extremely good, with 3 choices & 2/3 extra supplement items such as Lobster & imported steak. You have to prebook your dinner time everyday, and the best slots 7.30/8pm go really quickly. Every Wednesday & Saturday, you can dine around at their sister hotel - The Cocobay (about a 30min drive away). This is well worth it, the food was very, very good & the location is awesome (you do feel a bit sad to return to Coconut Beach!). You do have to pay the taxi fare for this excursion though.
The bar area is small, but cosy & gets you a good chance to mingle with the other guests. Some nights entertainment is provided, and the 2 guys who sing one night are very good & extremely amusing. The bar only serves non branded drinks, but the beer on tap is very good.
Room service is not available, and bottled water is USD1 per litre, available from reception.

Staff;
Generally we found the staff very efficient & helpful. The manageress was extremely helpful with our room problem at the start of the stay. One employee on reception was not particularly efficient, we even found her asleep one day!

Hotel Environment;
Its seems that some parts of the hotel escaped the renovation process, which leaves areas around the breakfast restaurant & the beachfront area untidy.

Facilities;
The pool is quite small, and rather cold, but refreshing in the midday sun. Located next to the restaurant & bar makes it close for lunch snacks & drinks. The beachfront area is very windswept, and sea quite rough for swimming. The hotel has an excellent, small beach hut offering spa treatments at a reasonable price. The staff there are so friendly, and the massage I received was heavenly, added to it was the sound of the sea in the background.

So, overall - we enjoyed our stay, but they need some improvements before I would recommend it to others. Once they sort those things out, it will be a great, reaosnably priced resort. In the meantime, head for Cocobay.

Just come back from one week in this really nice hotel, the food ranged from average to excellent, the staff were probably the most friendly of any hotel we have been to. The sea although a bit rough was fine to swim in (as long as you don't go expecting calm waters). The only really down side was that the bar area and the breakfast/luch rooms were right by the seashore (which is nice) except that there was a breeze that actually made it a bit chilly at times (good sweater/cardigan required). All in all a really relaxed place for a holiday in Antigua.

We have just returned from two weeks holiday at this Resort with two friends. After we had booked and before we travelled I read the report placed by the member from Buffalo and experienced some doubts about the holiday.
The Resort is small but there is adequate space for the present number of guests. The food has adequate choices and is of good quality. The Staff are very helpful and friendly. It is a Resort that lends itself to relaxation.
The drawbacks are that swimming can be difficult from the beach and the swimming pool is quite small. There is a tendency to be bitten if not by Mosquitos then by Sand Flies - take precautions.
We consider the holiday a success and the Resort value for money.
