“Lovely Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2013

We spent 2 weeks here at the end of April and had a very nice/ relaxing holiday. The position of the hotel right on the beach is glorious.
The food was lovely we looked forward to each and every meal. The food was so varied that we never had the same evening meal twice. Breakfast / lunch were buffet and if we doubled up it
was of our own choosing.
Thank you T (Tyrone) for the delicious lobster therm-adore you specially cooked for us we can't for another.
The downside has to be the very tired rooms:(:(
Sadly for the 2 weeks we were there the hotel manageress was not! and there obviously was not a second in command otherwise there would have been a normal managers cocktail party where we could have possibly addressed some of our concerns.
Possibly due also to the manageress not being there some staff were working very hard and very happy to make our holiday special others not so eager. Such a shame
The dress code was made clear to at check in nothing that we would not expect............Sadly this seemed to be ignored and some guests were being allowed in to supper in shorts!

We chose this hotel because of its intamate size and attention to personal service by the friendly staff, from the minute you step outside of the airport, and get a personal tour of the island by the well-informed taxi driver, to your arrival and check-in at the hotel. Everything is well organized and the staff make your stay everything that you would want it to be. Frenchy is a local tour operator who is well worth a talk with if you would like a taxi, tour of the island or a catamaran trip, get a good deal and enjoy more of Antigua than just the resort!! The only negative are the sand-flies and mosquitos so take A LOT of DEET and keep yourself covered in it!!!

Room Tip: All rooms are equally good, if you have any walking difficulties then the ground floor rooms are a m...

On arrival the hotel staff were friendly and checked us in efficiently and we took our cases up to our room. I was very disappointed with the bar area as there wasn't enough seating for all the guests. Chairs were taken out of the restaurant area to use however as we had a lot of rain this meant the chairs were damp when we sat down to eat our evening meal. Also the tables in the bar area got wet and if you lent on the table it stained you clothes. When it rained the path ways became flooded and then you couldn't reach the restaurant area without getting wet or muddy. The food at breakfast was awful, the same food everyday, my husband and I ended up with jam on toast! Lunch and the evening meal weren't bad, nothing special although pudding was fruit salad everyday. The staff were very helpful although it did take 3 days to get the key to our safe - this wasn't acceptable as we has valuables with us that we had to hide in our room. The resort wasn't what we had expected.

We stayed at the Coconut Beach second week May , arrived same time as the rain , but that did not put us off as the Hotel setting is fabulous ,rustic Antiguan charm, right on the beach ,secluded and private , very relaxing if you want , but if you are a bit adventurous there is plenty to do and see .Food was out of this world , good home cooked meals , with a good menu selection every lunch and dinner , Great Staff ,rooms spotless and comfortable furniture . we had room 202a which was great , aircon worked well and very quite , fan was noisy when turned up to fast , but this was not required as when aircon was on it was quite.
Mosquitoes were a problem in the late afternoon and evening if you were out side , we used repelent and sprayed our room before going to bed.
The Hotel also took measures to keep the mosquitoes under control by fogging the hotel and ground 2-3 times a week as well as the clearners spraying the rooms every day .Remember this is a Tropical Island .
We went on a couple of trips , which we enjoyed , also hired a car and had a drive around the Island which we found very easy and enjoyable as we were able to go to sights and spend as long or as little time as we needed , found local place to have lunch and drink and chat with the locals , very inexpensive away from the normal touristy spots ,
Will definatly be going back to this beautiful Island and the CBC .

Room Tip: All rooms are sea facing , first or second floor rooms have more light , we had room 202A which was...

The staff is welcoming and will go above & beyond to assist. The meals are good. CBC is a great place for couples or for relaxing but if you're looking for fun, it's probably not for you. The rooms are well kept, not very modern but that adds to the charm. Overall, I would recommend it

I stayed at Coconut Beach Club last week of April first week of May. I was looking forward to completely chilling out and enjoying 2 weeks of lovely sun.
Unfortunately my review will be slightly clouded due to the weather but did highlight some negative points.
I had read many reviews and would agree many points if looking from a perspective of going with a partner as it is very well suited to couples.
I went with a group of friends and found the resort was limited in what was on offer, due to a degree down to the weather.
Firstly when you are at the resort you are stuck there .ie you cannot really pop out and walk somewhere, to another bar or restaurant which i prefer personally. Unless you take a walk to the Royal Antiguan which was eerily quiet in Deep Bay.
We checked into our room on the first floor. A decent size with a lovely view and balcony.
Unfortunately the air con was the loudest i had heard but was needed. The fan in the room didnt work and wasn't repaired throughout the stay even though reported.
After a couple in our party had sustained horrendous mosquito bites we were pretty reluctant to open the doors or spend too much time on the balcony. I personally didnt get bitten in the first week but picked on in the second one and had a dozen of them to treat. Nasty.
We had 5 very rainy days. Not just showers but continuous rain all day. 4 or 5 further cloudy days and 3 or 4 what i would regard as lovely sunny days meant we were confined to our rooms or or the bar area. Yes i could have taken trips, in the rain remember, but i went there to chill out and relax.
The noisy air con made staying in the room laborious but there was little else to do other than sit around the bar.
The hotel had one evening per week of entertainment and nothing else. I just feel options were limited as you could not escape the monotony, and whilst i don't wish to be negative, even having a tv in the room would have opened up another option if you so desired.
Trying to remain positive. Staff, food, beach were fantastic. This place is perfect for couples who just want to spend time together and watch the world go round.
Take a trip to Jolly Beach and see the alternatives. The sea is something else. Different restaurants to choose from. Something to buy, fantastic views and walks.
Spend Sunday at Shirley Heights and see the sun set you won't be disappointed. Steel band and live band.(they only do this on Sundays) If you want to sit get there for about 4 otherwise you will stand and the night goes on till about 9, and is a great night.
Take a cat on an all day tour around the whole island. Its a great way to see it and a chance to snorkel as well. Great day out
Would definitely go back to Antigua and as good as CCB's good points were, i would stay somewhere that offered the option of points i have made on this review.

Room Tip: dont have 203b. ask for one with a remote control air con and thermostat as these are the newer ones...

We stayed at CCB in April and would agree with all of the good points from the previous reviews, really can't think of any bad things to say - a charming, slightly rustic and typically Antiguan hotel in a fabulous setting, great staff, rooms clean & well furnished, lovely food, I could go on! Definitely book a trip via Frenchie, a real character and he listens to your requests and delivers perfectly. We decided to treat ourselves to the helicopter over Montserrat, which was absolutely amazing! Did the catamaran just to the calmer side of the island as one of us suffers from sickness on boats - BBQ on bird island was beautiful, just like being shipwrecked, and Frenchie was right, no sickness! As others have said if you prefer seclusion on your balcony, ask for an upstairs room, you feel as if you're on the beach still from there anyway & no passing by from other guests.
We hired a car and discovered the real life side of Antigua, you do need to get out and about to get a real feel for the place, but guess this can be done on other trips if you don't have a car.
All in all a fantastic week and would definitely recommend CCB to anyone, particularly if you don't need to go to a hotel with facilities for children, as we don't need to anymore, a very calm, quiet place with plenty of character and charm. Do visit!

Room Tip: Ask for an upstairs room if you prefer seclusion on your balcony as the downstairs ones are right on...
