“A Nice Place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 18, 2012

Visited the Coconut Beach Club for a couple of weeks. First impressions were of a hotel that clearly employed staff who really cared about their guests. On arrival the weather was extremely humid and the reception staff offered us cool towels for our foreheads etc. Room was very basic -but who cares. Surely you go on holiday not to stay in your room all day. We were all inclusive and the food could not be faulted, although the choices of a fish or meat course each day did become a little tedious.
The beach was excellent although when we went it was jellyfish season which did seem to deter a few people from swimming. On our second week the number of guests increased dramatically and it appeared that the hotel were unaware of this as there was a lack of chairs in the bar area, so it was difficult to find somewhere to sit in the evening after having dinner.
Made some good friends with the staff and have brought home some very good memories of the place.

Coconut Beach is located on a beautiful, private beach. Falling asleep and waking up to the sound of the ocean waves is calming! Yes, the rooms are outdated and in need of tremendous improvement and updating but that is definitly not a reason not to go here. If you want activities then look elsewhere. If you want to relax, have a few drinks and chill out then this is the place to go. We are in our mid-thirties and one of the youngest couples and the only Americans, which was fine with us, it was nice talking to the other guests. All the staff are very friendly and easy to talk to, it is amazing how hard they work!!!

Breakfast could improve and was catered to British tastes so a little different for us. They definitely need to make sure the next batch of food is ready to come out of the kitchen. If you didn't get it in time there was a long wait. Lunch was pretty good and there was a lot of variety. Dinner was amazing! Great presentation and very tasty. We were not prepared to have food only available 3 times a day with nothing to snack on in between. We tend to eat at unusual times so it took a couple days to get used to.

There should be a bulletin board with tour days and prices since they only operate on certain days. It would have been very helpful because if you didn't fly with Virgin Atlantic you had no idea what was going on. That is the only airline with a rep who comes to the hotel to talk to the passengers about the island and things to do. We were in the dark unless we started asking questions. We found out an hour too late there was a nature walk. It would have been nice to go.

There is a small bridge in the back of the hotel that goes to a fresh water pond with many birds. Go in the morning (and be very quiet) and you can see all kinds.

There should be more entertainment, we were told that people didn't want any so that is the reason they don't provide it. It would have been nice to hear the steel drums longer on Thursday. He only played for an hour and was done before dinner started.

Drinks were good and plentiful! You shouldn't have to pay for bottled water though. I drank water from the bar and was sick the first night, and it wasn't from the alcohol since we only had a couple drinks.

We are definitely happy we chose this hotel, just a few things need to be changed.

Room Tip: Every room is good, all face the ocean

I have never had such a relaxing holiday in my life, beautiful blue sea, golden sand and a fantastic hotel!!! I cannot praise Coconut Beach enough, from the moment we checked in we were treated so well, nothing was a problem for the staff here. The beautiful beach was a step away from your room , you will never have a problem with sun loungers in this hotel there are more beds than people. If you want to totally relax why not swing in the carribean sun on your personal hammock on your veranda or balcony. The food is typical Antiguan , fresh, varied and very tasty. The restaurant works for dinner on a booking system with a la carte menus, this makes dinner time very relaxed and intimate, no lines for buffet dinners! The staff in this hotel are so helpful and friendly from the manageress Nicole ,to bar, restaurant and cleaning staff. We went on a Catamaran trip around the whole island , what an experience, to see the island from the calm Caribbean on one side to the wild Atlantic on the other , it is a must. If you are considering this hotel for your holiday or honeymoon , consider no longer , just book it!!! :)

Room Tip: We booked a junior suite ,lots of space.

hard to imagine a sweeter spot for a quiet get away. Lovely beach, small size so it doesn't feel crowded, truly ll inclusive (no surprises) and friendly service! The rooms are basic, but fine; the cleaning service was inconsistent but OK. This is not a 5 start resort, but is is a lovely get away spot. The location is ideal, the service friendly as can be, and was just what we needed.

The beach could use a few more shade structures. If you don't grab your spot before breakfast you are likely to be out of luck - and the sun is too strong to stay is all day. But once you have your shade stand, then you are set for the day! Steps to the sea, a lovely pool (but no pool side seating unfortunately), sun when you want it and shade when you need it. We were looking for a place to relax and recharge - it was so perfect we didn't leave for the whole week!

Also, a small beachside cottage for massage is a must! Book in advance to get a discount, otherwise it is a relatively pricey.

The food is plentiful, although not what I expected. Lighter lunch options would have been appreciated althought the chef's creativity was oftern a pleasant surprise. Dinner choices were creative and tasty. I didn't expect pasta specials every night, but started to look forward to them!
Appreciated the adults only policy - nothing against kids generally, but it was a pleasure not to have them around. Would definitely recommend to those looking for a quiet get away!

Room Tip: I think the top floor rooms are best because of the high ceilings and light (where we stayed); but g...

This was our first trip to the Caribbean. On arrival at the hotel we were met with very friendly helpful staff who saw to our needs after our journey with effiency and a smile. The ground floor room we had requested was ideal. The member of staff that showed us to our room made sure we were aware of all safety and comfort needs before leaving us to unpack.
The first thing we did was take stock of the beautiful view from our terrace. It was only a few steps to the white beach and clear blue sea!! A hammock was ready for use, along with patio chairs and plenty of sunbeds. We felt the stress fall away as we sat with our rum punch from the bar, which was only a few steps away. The infinity pool called! it was all kept very clean, nice touch, footbaths located by the pool and on each pario to prevent sand spreading from the beach.
The tropical gardens surrounding the hotel were well kept and gave the place true magic quality. The staff were friendly yet respectful and would put themselves out to be helpful, nothing was too much trouble. The food was plentiful and there was always a good choice to suit every mood! The hotel had 38 rooms which was ideal as there was really never a queue for anything. We chose this resort as it was adult only, as had a number of other guests who also worked with children for the rest of the year so were liked minded souls!
We took advantage of the Wellness cottage, which was one of the things that had attracted us to the hotel. The cottage was set at the end of the grounds in a peaceful position with only the sound of the waves to be heard whilst you were being pampered, absolute bliss. Very high standard of care, attention, and hygiene. The treatments we booked were tailored for us and easily booked, good value for money.
When we got talking to some other guests they said that the resort had been described as rustic, which in essence it is. Yes the sunbeds, and ouside furniture area little worn but this is part of the charm. it is all well looked after. It is an authentic caribbean getaway, not a plastic palace.
Reception staff were very efficient and organised taxis for trips and always had useful advice. The little shop carried everything you might need for comfort at a reasonable price. The situation of the resort being only 15 mins from St Johns and 20 from the airport made it an ideal spot. All in all a slice of paradise.

Room Tip: requested ground floor as limited mobilty and this was ideal, close to everything including the beac...

Many reviews have already summed up CBC perfectly, a few additional points however...

The CBC is quite Authentic and far away from the Sandals brigade..

Yes rooms are a bit dated but all you do is sleep in them, the mattresses are a bit worn however so could do with some new ones. The same can be said for the sun loungers, they are pretty old and uncomfortable so some investment is needed on those. The beach is ok, its very windy so i would highly recommend the 10 minute walk to Hideaway Bay next door, it is amazing alternatively get a Taxi to Darwoood beach, clear water and perfect beach, well worth a day there. The pool at CBC is great though it is situated next to the bar and there are no places to put your towel or sunbathe so this is also a bit strange. Restaurant was perfect and its good to see everyone make an effort to dress for dinner, its A la Carte with 3 options and good standard of food.
Due to it only have 38 rooms, you can have a quiet holiday without being disturbed or alternatively you can socialise with other people ' as and when' you want to. Whilst we were there there was a few American couples who were loud as you would expect but even they managed to quieten down after a few days..

Cannot speak highly enough of the staff, all fantastic and friendly hosts. Highly recommend booking Captain Spencer for a few days to show you around the island, thoroughly enjoyable day and worth the money...he is a legend.

Room Tip: Take US dollars, EC $ is accepted but everyone use US. Its hard to find a cash machine over there th...

Locatoin Location Location and this place has it in spades, beautiful beach setting, gorgeous warm Caribbean waters and lovely hideaway bays and beaches everywhere. The hotel is a llovely small well run place with 38 rooms so never too crowded, the quality of the food is splendid and the all inclusive followed by a la carte evening meal is refreshing, food quality is first class, ideal place for couples as no kids under 12 permitted. Only issue we had was group of unruly Canadian students who spoiled things for 2 days before management turfed them out but then they were acting like complete idiots. In fairness to the management they didnt take them in out of greed but as a block booking under an "adults" credentials. I couldn't be happier with the place and wish that we had stayed there longer than a week, its definitley worth staying at least 10 nights there. The staff can't do enough for you. It really is a little slice of paradise

Room Tip: Ask for a ground floor room, slide open your patio doors take 10 steps and enjoy the beach.
