If you are headed to the REX BLUE HERON make sure to ENJOY IT!!! My wife and I just spent 10 days there at the end of february/march and it was the BEST!!! Very small and intimate like it says and alot more...Room was very accomodating for our needs..If you read any negative reviews like we did, do not give them much thought, see for yourself how wonderful this place is..Carleen was excellent and the entire staff as well. Thumbs up!!!! O.J's has a great red snapper and a view to die for. Check out turners beach for lunch as well. Three martini's and their bartender Godfried...If you like to have peace and quiet yet be close to all the adventure this place is IT..Great if you really want to get away from IT ALL....Thanks to all at the BLUE HERON...

The beach, food, staff were all wonderful. If you are looking for peace and quiet in a wondeful location then this is the place.
The rooms are a nice size, try and get a beach front room as this does make a difference. Whilst the rooms are a nice size and cleaned every day they are quite basic.
I would recommend this hotel and look forward to returning for another stay in paradise.

The Rex Blue Heron is somewhere to rest your head. The beach more than makes up for the drab hotel.

A few people have said the staff need customer care training but I found this totally untrue if you take the time to talk to them. They come accross as a little unfriendly but then I think I would if I was only earning somewhere in the region of £20 per day and having to put up with some really rude guests.

The food is basic but what do you expect from a 3star hotel ?

I have been there twice now and am looking forward to going back, it beats Barbados any day of the week.

If you go say hi to Marlon and Errol the bar tenders, lovely guys.

We were very dissatisfied the first night since we booked a standard room. If you plan to enjoy your stay then upgrade as we did. I paid extra for a beach front the next morning and it was well worth it. If you want peace and quiet with no kids running around, pristine waters and a private beach facing Monserrat then this is the place to go. It is very laid back and if you are the type of person who pays close attention to detail this is not for you. A perfect place to sleep, drink, and eat just like a relaxing vacation should be. Certain amenities require patience to obtain like properly working phone system. In the morning you may need to wait for ice and towels to be delivered but who cares, your on the island mon! We thought the food was very good with a different selection every day.It may take a while if you prefer your eggs cooked differently in the morning but eventually they will make it to your table. The staff is very friendly and as days passed we developed a good relationship with them. Taxis are easy to find and your money goes a long way there. The Blue Heron is a quaint little place far from the city-like environment of large scale hotels with hundreds of guests. We will be going back so be sure NOT to tell your friends, it's our little secret!!

Follow the stone steps at the end of the beach just off to the left and you will find yourself on your own endless tropical beach. Don't bother with a calling card though since you will be charged anyway. Look for Joseph on the beach, our reliable connection to outside activities.

Blue heron is on an absolutely beautiful beach. I recommend a beachfront room (we had roon 110) and loved the 2nd floor balcony with a direct view of the water. The staff were uniformly polite and friendly. We especially liked the assistant manager who is working very hard to train a new staff and work out the kinks with the uneven quality of rooms and service. And also, we appreciated the hard work and pleasantness of the security woman (Trish?) who helped us and stayed with us until we received our correct room.

Our first two days there were a little frustrating because we had to deal with a great room but a faulty hot water knob and a torn and dysfunctional screen door that took three trips by staff over two days to get fixed before we could have hot water for the shower. There were other little glitches we had to deal with as well but ,I must say that the beach, the ocean and pool, and the lack of hype...it was very low key...all made up for the initial problems.

I recommend that one not take the all inclusive because the food was ok but not great and there two lovely beach restaurants within an easy walk on the beach..one on each end of the beach. If the quality of food is not a huge issue the all-inclusive is a very
good deal.

The other guests were almost all from England and Scotland and were very friendly. The people we talked with had come back here for the sixth time.

  • Liked — great beach nice and quiet
  • Disliked — uneven service some problems to be worked out with the rooms
