I Cannot speak highly enough about this hotel and its excellent staff!!I had the good fortune to be married there on April 16th and the experience can only be described as magical thanks to the hard work of all concerned!!
In all honesty the fabric of this hotel is somewhat jadedbut its situation on probably the best beach on Antiguamore than compensates for this inadequacy.
On this beach can be found some excellent characterswho, unlike on some caribbean islands,do not pester the life out of youand are genuine in their desire to provide you with whatever you require. The lovely lady from the beach stall even brought us a bag full of wedding presents!! At this point i should mention my friend Joseph who is widdowed andbrings up three children on commission earned for selling trips such as the trip around the island on a catamaran. He is as honest as the day is long and is a great example of knowledge and integrity to us all!! I would urge you to seek him out and buy your excursions from him and not your tour operator.
During our twelve night stay we found the food to be excellent with a nice mix between formal dining in the restaurant and less formal buffet nights in the beachside restaurant, many of these nights had entertainment of some sort such as steel /reggae bands.
These nights are enhanced by the attentions of staff such as Colin[American Idol!]Kerry -Ann[Baywatch Babe!] and the dynamic duo of Erroll and Andy behind the bar,or,in Andy`s case, sometimes in the pool [hope the new phone is working ok!!]
There are many others too who are not as high profile but equally as efficient and friendly, especially the dancing chef who made the best wedding cake i have ever tasted!
Finally i must mention the management,Carleen Adams and Sandy Francis who ensured that our Wedding Day was faultless in every way and could not do enough to make our stay as memorable as possible,we both hope that Miss Francis has had some better news about her poorly daughter.
To conclude this hotel does it`s best to make you feel special, yes it could do with a lick of paint but our beach front room was fantastic and to those with teenage children,do not be put off by some of the negativity on here,my wifes teenage daughter is saving to go back already!!!!

My Fiance and I decided to have our small wedding at this resort.
Our families and friends came from Trinidad and we were all blown away by the friendly staff and the homely feeling that they created...
They made all of our dreams come true for our perfect day...

This is a must stay at resort....
Keep up the good work guys...

“I love this place will you”

Like many others we read all the reviews about this place, but we were on a bit of a budget and having never been to the carribean we decided to give it a go. Everyone expects different things from their holiday, we wanted sun sea and relaxation and thats what we got. The room was spacious and clean with no bugs, it was dated but I didnt go for the decor I thought it was quaint and fitted its surroundings. The staff were great and I found if you had a positive attitude thats exactly what you got back if you go looking for faults this is not the place for you. The weather is great and when there was a slight shower you didnt have to leave the beach as it stopped as soon as it started and was quite refreshing. The best part of the holiday for us was a local dog that had been adopted by the guests which we nicknamed Rex after the resort. although he was not treated particulary well by the locals ps if anyone has an update on him please email me lfurminger@ntlworld.com. in a nutshell we cant wait to go again booking for jan 09 Beach was great, try the local restaurants for the lobster the cost £5. no kids. ps you must visit the little curiosity shop over the road and for a few dollars he will tell you some great stories.

“place to crash”

Blue Heron by Rex Resorts

Nothing fancy. we had problems with rooms first two days that we had to deal with and changed rooms. couple of staff memberfs were helpful but most had no problem, no worry and were not quick to take care of and resolve. We did end up with an upgrade. The beach is beautifully located, wonderful place to just walk out enjoy the beach beautiful areas to walk to. but hotel was just a place to crash. it was the beach that was worth it. some nights were buffet style meals which was not worth it for me being mostly vegetarian and wanted small portions, once wanted to eat just salad and soup or rice and vegetable and staff tried to charge 66 dollars and staff did not work to fix for it but once spoken to manager it was dealt with. many places can walk to for restaurants and a quick drive. OJ was good and can walk to, when no buffet the blue heron food was good and breakfast is really good. Coco hotel restaurant definitely romantic place worth short drive to.

“Blue Heron Review”

Stayed for a week in February 2008 at The Blue Heron and had a great holiday, I must admit I was a bit worried about going after reading some of the reviews. The beach was fantastic and is one of the best on the island, the food was excellent and would advise anyone going to The Blue Heron to go all inclusive, rooms were quite basic but were kept clean, and towels were changed daily. Staff were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them,. Colin and Andy made some excellent cocktails and really looked after us. I would however recommend taking a good mosquito repellant as they are a big problem in the Caribbean. Had a great island tour with Elmos 4x4 tours, he really showed us the real Antigua and was very informative. Local transport was very cheap and a trip into St Johns is a must as is The English Harbour and Shirley Heights. All in all a great holiday
