Had a wonderful time at the Antigua village and the staff at the resort and the two close by restaurants were fantastic . I give the edge in service and quality to the "Beach" as the staff were excellent in helping us with our kids. Kizzy, Emerson and Marcella were exceptional servers! The beach is wonderful but further down towards Sandals is a bit more heavily populated and the construction boards are not the prettiest, but hey that's progress and I'm sure the end result will be very appealing to the eye. If your out for a Lobster dinner be sure to visit the Lobster Shack about 5 minutes down the road- great food and ambiance! Happy vacation!

We had an absolutely fantastic time there! The Antigua village was fantastic ,people and staff were terrific! We ate quite frequently at "The Beach" and if you have children the menu is great and the staff great. Ask for Emmerson or Kizzy or Marcelle as they were great at keeping our kids happy and were exceptional servers. We also found the Lobster Shack 5 minutes away that was a superb place for dinner overlooking the ocean and the sunset , be sure to go aound 5:15pm in march so that you can enjoy the sunset with youir meal. Prices are realistic and resonable when all things considered. If you are looking for a great snorkelling experience find "Smokey" down the beach by The Sandals as he is professional and entertaining. Another great experience is the Treasure Island Catamaran trip which is fun and refreshing, best to leave young children away from this one though.
Worst part of our trip had to be the airport! No AC and they decided to change out the toilets when there was about 300 plus people there, ridiculous! This task could have been done in the late evening early morning. I am hoping that when I return the air port will be better!

We stayed at Antigua Village in a one bed appartment, it had two balcony's, a washer & dryer (although I believe the other properties had no washer and dryer), upstairs bedroom and bathroom and slept 4 people (two on sofa bed downstairs.)
The decor was a bit dated and needed vamping up but otherwise the appartment was clean and bright. There was an extra charge for the air conditioning but we didn't need to use it because the appartment had large fans anyway.

The pool was clean and poolside beds more comfortable than the beach. All the staff were really friendly and in fact everyone we came accross on the island was friendly too.

The beach is beautiful, white sands and has swimming areas sectioned off for safe swimming. The Sandles hotel is expanding which is next to Antugua Village and I would imagine the beach will get busy due to this. (They told us Sandles is due to open in July 2007.)

There seemed a lot of people selling jewellery, t-shirts, music etc on the beach but when we said 'no thanks' they didn't bother us- like in some other places we have been to!

We tried the restaurants nearby, The beach and Coconut Grove both excellent food and prices are about the same as the UK.
We visited The Coconut Grove on our first day and watched the sun go down whilst drinking cocktails- very romantic!

Don't forget your spray for the midges- we went thru a can and had no problems until we ran out and then got bitten in the evening.

We thoroughly enjoyed our holiday and have even enquired about purchasing a property at Antigua Village.

Stayed in room 39A recomended by previous reviewer. Great room , good discount price because it was September, in fact we only saw 3 o4 other couples during our stay. Coconut Grove and beach restaurants both ver good although a little pricey as has been mentioned. Small but nice beach however the beach is shared with Sandals and they are bulding a large exstension and I can imagine that the beach might get crowded in the peak season. We recomend a trip to English Harbour for those with historical or naval interests (Take the bus from St. Johns its an experience).

We stayed at Antigua village as part of our timeshare options with RCI. Antigua village itself is not a resort but instead a kind of hotel of condos.

I'll start by saying that Antigua is the most wonderful Carribean country we have ever visited (we have been too many)! The people are good-natured, funny and not at all pushy. Really genuine! You can tell that tourism is not their number one industry as they aren't polished as the Bahamas for example, and we loved that because you really feel like you are experience a new culture! And I have to mention they know how to have fun!

Quick recap:

Rooms: Definetely dated. They are maintained by the condo owners and many are in need of a refresh. All rooms we saw were clean so that wasn't an issue... Just a little old. A full kitchen is in the room with all needed cookware and serveware.

Food: There is a fantastic grocery store only 10 minutes from Antigua Village, the Epicurean. They carry many US and Canadian brands and we bought a lot of food that we were used to buying at home. That was a nice comfort. The fruit and meat/fish at the Epicurean were some of the freshest we had ever tasted. We were hesitant at first to buy raw meat and eggs but we were so glad we did. What a difference it makes in taste when there aren't a ton of preservatives!

Restaurants: Fantastic! We were shocked at the quality of the restaurants in Antigua. We are big time foodies and we were fully satisfied with every restaurant we tried from sushi to French. We highly recommend Le Bistro (unbelievably delicious) and Papa Zouk (amazing atmosphere). These two restaurants are MUSTS! There are many other great restaurants too many to name.

Beach: The beach is small but well maintained and quite quiet which was nice. We were happy with it.

Excursions: Miguel's Holiday Adventure at Turtle Island!!! You have to do it! A day of fun, sun, snorkelling (if you want) and great food and drinks. Miguel is the sweetest man and his son that is now manager of the tour is just wonderful and funny! You can't go worng for approx $60 this is well worth every penny and more. Our best excursion ever.

Weather: We weren't so lucky in this area. Lots of rain which is unusual for Antigua but I guess that's what you get in mid October. It didn't put a damper on things for us as there was plenty of other things to do.

If you have a chance to get to Antigua - GO!! We don't particularly recommend this resort (it certainly isn't bad though) what we really recommend in the island of Antigua - Pure Paradise!
