Our family of 4 adults 2 kids just returned from Antigua Village. Our villa/studio provided ample space for all to enjoy. The rooms were clean, nicely furnished and the village provided excellent maid service daily.Beach & Pool excellent for kids too..Restaurants in walking distance great. Great value for money.Never left complex.

For $320 per night in Antigua Village my girlfriend and I got a room with:

- Virtually no hot water, the water temperature fluctuated between cold and slightly warm (who needs hot water in Caribbeans);

- No telephone service, you cannot call outside the island from the phone in your room, you need to drive to the nearest city and buy calling cards;

- Two small beds put together (instead of one queen size, as you would expect for that price), where when you make love either you or your partner will almost certainly fall between the beds;

- Service and reception of the kind where you feel almost guilty when you bother personnel with your silly questions (the staff is not well trained for the job in hospitality industry, in my opinion).

In any case, we enjoyed the vacation, the island is pretty, the people on the island are friendly and the sea was great. The hotel, however, in terms of the value was not much higher than many inexpensive motels in the US, but the price was quite luxurious.

We stayed at Antigua Village for several days in early August 2003. We had a hotel type room with twin beds and a small kitchenette. Our unit, 44B, was close to the beach and showing signs of age. But the staff keeps it well maintained and we had no complaints. All the appliances functioned, we had a large patio with a nice breeze, and the staff were warm and friendly.

There are two restaurants nearby--Coconut Grove and The Beach. The Beach is a bit more casual and the food and service are good at both.
(Be sure to try the Seafood Spring Rolls at The Beach.) There is a small grocery shop on-site if you want to purchase snacks, toiletries, or drinks. We were not constantly accosted by jewelry and t-shirt vendors, as we have been on public beaches on some of the other islands. Antigua Village has several security guards, and one always seemed to be in or around the beach area. The resort was a nice mix of familes, couples, and singles.

Although the accomodations aren't luxurious, we were there to enjoy the beach and we had a very pleasant and enjoyable stay. I would certainly stay here again if we return to Antigua.

We just came back from the Antigua Village two weeks ago in the end of May 2003 and it was everything that we had expected and wanted on our relaxing tropical getaway.

Our room/studio apartment was very large with a fully functioning kitchen. It was very clean and attractive and the maids even did the dishes! We brought food in and cooked most meals to save money but there were two adorable restaurants two steps away from the complex that we frequented for pina coladas and cocktails. The cable television was great, air conditioning, and I loved the scenic terrace that we ate all of our meals on.

The weather was perfect on Antigua, no rain as we had worried about and the temperature never went much higher than in the 80's with a light and wonderful sea breeze. The water is crystal clear blue and incredible. And Shirley Heights at sunset is very memorable. We also did not experience any bugs or mosquitos

The hotel was right on the beach and it is a beautiful beach shared with Sandals and other resorts as well as some water activity companies. We took a Katamaran around the Island which was fun if you're a bit on the adventurous side. Taxis are expensive on the island, and food's no bargain but otherwise it was all so perfect and we both came home feeling completely rejuvenated. I would definitely go back to Antigua and stay in the Antigua Village.

We stayed at Antigua Village over New Year's '02-'03. It was just what we were looking for - laid back, right off the beach, pretty, well-maintained and quiet.

The rooms are fine - we had a studio with kitchen...just a big open room. The grounds are very pretty. The staff and security guards were extremely friendly.

The place is right on a beautiful (and active) beach-Dickenson Bay. Plus, there are two great bar/restaurants within about twenty yards of the village - The Beach and Coconut Grove.

The only problem the whole time there - the water supply to our group of units broke down several days, but the we were able to use another room during the down-times...a minor inconvenience in the big picture.

We would certainly recommend the Village if you're looking for a nice, pretty and reasonable place to stay (in paradise). We'll certainly be back.
