For $320 per night in Antigua Village my girlfriend and I got a room with:
- Virtually no hot water, the water temperature fluctuated between cold and slightly warm (who needs hot water in Caribbeans);
- No telephone service, you cannot call outside the island from the phone in your room, you need to drive to the nearest city and buy calling cards;
- Two small beds put together (instead of one queen size, as you would expect for that price), where when you make love either you or your partner will almost certainly fall between the beds;
- Service and reception of the kind where you feel almost guilty when you bother personnel with your silly questions (the staff is not well trained for the job in hospitality industry, in my opinion).
In any case, we enjoyed the vacation, the island is pretty, the people on the island are friendly and the sea was great. The hotel, however, in terms of the value was not much higher than many inexpensive motels in the US, but the price was quite luxurious.
