“Very interesting”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 6, 2014

Good detail and history, excellent view. The climb up and down is a bit treacherous and demanding and not for the faint of heart or poor in shape.

“A Beach for Every Day of the Year Here!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 18, 2014

With over 365 beaches, here is a slice of white sand heaven for everyone on every day of the year in Antigua, which played host to Admiral Horatio Nelson's fleet in the late 1700's.Nelson's Dockyard now bustles with crew and passengers from yachts and ships sailing these waters for pleasure, rather than work. The main port, and capital, St Johns is a vibrant hub for shopping and is home to one third of the island's population. Standing on a great bay in the north west, it's entrance is guarded by two forts.
Fort James on the northern headland dates from 1739 and used to fire one of it's 36 cannons at dawn and dusk daily.
Fort Barrington, on the southern headland provides spectacular views. be prepared for steep climbs and boggy bits.
For a general feel of the town, the market in the south is a colourful spectacle and a lovely place for people watching, and photo taking.

“Great Views - gorgeous beach!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2014

Like most of our days on the Island we happened upon the Fort by exploring down a dirt road. I was weary of the bridge so waded through the stream. Thankfully we had our hiking shoes in the car to help maneuver up the rocks. The views were gorgeous and we climbed down for an afternoon on the beach at deep bay which has some of the most beautiful calm blue waters I've ever seen.

“Great View”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 3, 2014

If you can climb up a steep hill you will enjoy the view from midway or top. Lots of goats roaming around. The bridge to cross water has unsecure steps so be careful.

Breathtaking views when you reach the top. Wear sturdy shoes! Cool off on the beach after your descent.
