If you are looking for a laid back, quiet resort with no children then this is the resort for you!
We were greeted with a rum punch as soon as we stepped out of our taxi, a nice refreshing welcome after the long flight and hot taxi ride (our taxi's air con was not working, V hot, but we were so excited about getting to Galley bay we didn't let it get to us)
We were then wisked away on a golf buggy to our room, via a guided tour of the resort, and I knew then that we had made the right choice coming here.
Our room was lovey (we had one of the suites) the view was amazing and the room was spotless. The maid came a cleaned our room every day and left clean towels for the bathroom and the beach.
All the food was amazing, you can eat from 7am till 10pm evey day if the mood takes you, as they have various things on offer from afternoon tea to bar snacks and breakfast to long lazy lunches. I am a very fussy eater and there was always something for me.
The staff are great, not too in your face, but polite and really looked after you and made you feel welcome.
Entertainment was lo key, they had bands that played whilst you had dinner, and this suited us, as we are not the types who want all night discos full of loud and drunken people (the only slightly cringy entertainment was the fashion show, as you were trying to eat your dinner whilst these women "worked it" around the room stopping each time right by our table, however I hear the people who were sitting in the bar area came of worse as they had to put up with a "dance move" as well)
The beach is lovely, yes the sea could be a bit rough some days, but if you want a dip there was always the pool, and it was never rough enough to stop me from dipping my toes
I loved the birds, I know some people found them anoying because they come and pinch sugar sachets from the bowls on the tables, but I found this really cute (and I haven't come down with any strange disease from having let them!)
To sum up. the Galley bay is a quiet ,refined yet rustic and relaxing resort and whilst we were there seemed to appeal to mostly older british couples. (me and my partner are mid 30's and we were one of the youngest couples there)
I'm now saving my pennys and looking at what possesions I can sell so that I can go back again!!

We have just returned from a week's stay at this excellent hotel/resort. If you are looking for peace and quiet, total relaxation in a beautiful environment then we highly recommend the Galley Bay. The staff were excellent; attentive to your every need without being intrusive; all were polite, cheerful and considerate and impeccable in their attention to detail. The food and service was excellent.
We specifically chose the Galley Bay as it is an adult only resort. Guests in general were couples looking for a relaxed holiday free to choose whether they wished to just laze on the beach, swim or relax on one of the many loungers reading. For the more active there was a well-equipped fitness room and a jogging trail as well as facilities for windsurfing and snorkelling. Fishing trips as well as other excursions/activities can be booked through the hotel. We took a helicopter trip round the island which was very good and gave a different perspective of the island. The lagoon provided an interesting alternative with plenty of bird life. The library has planty of holiday reading.
We returned home thouroughly relaxed and looking forward to our next visit to the Galley Bay.

Stayed at the Galley Bay for our honeymoon mid May for ten nights. Food was amazing, cocktails need to be tried especially the Galley Bay Special and the Banana Slide. Staff were excellent and met lots of very nice people, only minor criticism is the dress code in the beach bar at night is long trousers for gents but everything else considered can live with that.
The location of this hotel is fantastic even though the sea can be a little rough at times, it is located on the most fantastic beach. Even when the hotel is full it never feels crowded.
Please remember to ask the kitchen staff for some lettuce for the turtles, they can be found just opposite the library...

  • Liked — Food, beach, location, relaxing.
  • Disliked — Strict dress code in the evening

My wife and I have just return from our honeymoon at Galley Bay. We were there between 22nd May till 6th June, We flew BA business class which was excellent well worth the money.

We arrived at St Johns airport it only took us 20 mins to get through
passport control and to collect our bags. The taxi took us straight to Galley Bay which only takes 15 mins, once at the main reception we were greeted with a Carribean Rum drink which was most refreshing.

We then was taken to our Premium Beach Front Suite by golf buggy I would recommend the extra expense it was well worth it, the suite was big very clean and tidy and right on the beach and its the biggest suite in the hotel.

The whole complex is just out of this world, the beach is very relaxing the water is warm and very blue its a little bit rockey up one end of the beach. The pool is very warm we took it in turn one day at the beach one day at the pool.

The staff are very helpful always there to help and very polite, we were always greeted with a smile.

The food was excellent in both Restaurants but after being there two weeks we were starting to get a little bit bored of it, You can drink
as much as you want.

We only went out once to St, Johns to have a look around spent about 2 hours and then returned back to Galley Bay as the weather was really hot.

So Gallay Bay is a place to go for to totally chill out there's no kids only couples and newly weds. If your looking for relaxing place
Gallay Bay is the place for you.

The weather was very hot, we only had a little rain while we were there.

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a fabulous 10 day holiday at Galley Bay. (We wished it had been longer). We can honestly say that the only thing we could possibly moan about is the butter for our bread rolls could have been a little softer!! And thats being picky.

The staff are the highlight of the stay. We are not the type for loud, active holidays where one is pressured to join in with entertainment, so this stay was ideal. The staff are the most polite and friendly hosts you could imagine and, despite it taking a little while to get used to their slower pace of life, they couldn't do enough to assist us.

All of our criteria was met. Our Superior Beach Room was clean, cool with a lovely big bathroom and only a stones throw from the sea. Whilst some have previously moaned about the crashing of the waves keeping them awake, we found it incredibly romantic and far from a problem.

Our other big must on holiday is good food. And at Galley Bay it is all 5 star. Unlike most all-inclusives, at Galley Bay breakfast, lunch and dinner are all a la carte (hence we put on a good few pounds!) They also have themed BBQ nights once a week which you shouldn't miss.

At 26 we were definitely one of the youngest couples so not a resort for those looking for a lively time away, but a very romantic location with many honeymooners. Our only disappointment was there are no motorised watersports at hand. The hotel will call in a local with a jet ski and full insurance but i suppose in such a beautiful bay it could be deemed unnecessary.

Facilities are lovely, some building work going on at the far end of the resort but we were close by and heard very little. The pool is lovely, the tennis court superb. I treated myself to a manicure and tried my best to get into the gym which was sufficiently equipped.

All in all a top class resort that we can't wait to visit again.
