If you are looking for a laid back, quiet resort with no children then this is the resort for you!
We were greeted with a rum punch as soon as we stepped out of our taxi, a nice refreshing welcome after the long flight and hot taxi ride (our taxi's air con was not working, V hot, but we were so excited about getting to Galley bay we didn't let it get to us)
We were then wisked away on a golf buggy to our room, via a guided tour of the resort, and I knew then that we had made the right choice coming here.
Our room was lovey (we had one of the suites) the view was amazing and the room was spotless. The maid came a cleaned our room every day and left clean towels for the bathroom and the beach.
All the food was amazing, you can eat from 7am till 10pm evey day if the mood takes you, as they have various things on offer from afternoon tea to bar snacks and breakfast to long lazy lunches. I am a very fussy eater and there was always something for me.
The staff are great, not too in your face, but polite and really looked after you and made you feel welcome.
Entertainment was lo key, they had bands that played whilst you had dinner, and this suited us, as we are not the types who want all night discos full of loud and drunken people (the only slightly cringy entertainment was the fashion show, as you were trying to eat your dinner whilst these women "worked it" around the room stopping each time right by our table, however I hear the people who were sitting in the bar area came of worse as they had to put up with a "dance move" as well)
The beach is lovely, yes the sea could be a bit rough some days, but if you want a dip there was always the pool, and it was never rough enough to stop me from dipping my toes
I loved the birds, I know some people found them anoying because they come and pinch sugar sachets from the bowls on the tables, but I found this really cute (and I haven't come down with any strange disease from having let them!)
To sum up. the Galley bay is a quiet ,refined yet rustic and relaxing resort and whilst we were there seemed to appeal to mostly older british couples. (me and my partner are mid 30's and we were one of the youngest couples there)
I'm now saving my pennys and looking at what possesions I can sell so that I can go back again!!
